Reincarnated As The Villainess's Son

Chapter 298: Market [2]

"Yes?"

"Oh?"

"Right. Got it."

"Can you shut up?" I grimaced, swiping at the bird perched on my head.

The little menace easily dodged my hand, flapping its wings to hover briefly before settling right back onto my head.

"…."

Once again, it started pecking at my scalp.

The fuck is wrong with this little shit?

"Stop playing with that bird," Zenith snapped, glaring at me from a few feet away.

"I'm not playing," I shot back. My eyes scanned the bustling mall as I continued walking. "This thing just keeps assaulting me."

Like everything else in Akasha, this place was a home of advanced design, sprawling across an immense area.

The architecture gleamed with sleek, futuristic materials, seamlessly integrating technology into every corner.

Holographic displays danced in the air, showcasing ads, directions, and interactive guides, while the floors and walls seemed to hum with subtle energy.

Despite having roamed around for a while, we hadn't made it past the second floor.

Our disguises altered our appearances just enough to avoid unwanted attention.

Even so, the bird perched on my head wasn't helping.

Gazing at the different shopping places—.

The little bird pecked my head once again.

"Does anyone here speak bird?" I asked the group I was stuck with.

"Bird language?" Carson raised an eyebrow, walking beside Siersha.

"Ask Amaury," Aimar commented, looking at me.

"Now, hold on a minute," Amaury, who was walking with Elijah and Heather, chimed in. "Why are you dragging me into this?"

"He's being racist, Amaury," I deadpanned before Aimar could respond. "If I were you, I'd beat the shit out of him."

"Can you shut up?" Aimar snarled, glaring at me.

"What?" I asked, looking at him. "I am just saying, maybe he will awaken his inner wolf."

"That's racist in so many ways," Elise added, looking at a dumbfounded Aimar. "No wonder your friend also likes to make racist comments."

"Yeah, he really shouldn't," I said, nodding solemnly. "Being a racist is a sin, just like being a werewolf."

"...."

"...."

What?

Why was everyone staring at me like that?

"You are the worst person," Zenith scoffed, glaring at me.

"Oh, I'm so sorry for speaking the truth, Shorty," I replied, smiling at the girl.

She drew in a deep breath, trying to stop herself from exploding.

"Why do you call her short, though?" Elijah asked, looking at me. "I mean, she isn't short—."

"Look at her," I said, stepping closer to Zenith. "See this? Her head doesn't even reach my shoulder."

I placed a hand over her head for emphasis while she glared daggers at me.

Though I say she is short, in reality, she isn't.

It's just that she is shorter than me.

"For the record," she muttered through clenched teeth, "this is average."

"Sure it is," I teased.

She ignored me. "Anyway, we should pair up and do separate shopping; otherwise, it will take a lot of time."

"You are right," Heather agreed with a smile. "Me and Elijah will pair up."

"Then I will join," Amaury added, though he had a slightly annoyed look on his face.

"Sure—."

"No, dude." She cut into Elijah's words, looking at Amaury. "I am going to a different section. Only two people can enter at once."

"Why?" Amaury frowned.

"I just can't explain," Heather said with a bright, apologetic smile. "I'll make it up to you, promise."

Before Amaury could argue, Heather grabbed Elijah's arm and dragged him away.

"..…"

All Amaury could do was just look at them.

Aimar quietly walked towards him before wrapping his hand around his shoulder.

"Let's pair up," he said, patting Amaury's back.

Amaury regained his smile as he replied, "Sure."

They both left in the opposite direction.

"I will pair up with them," Elise said, smiling and pointing to the Valantine siblings. "Hope you guys enjoy."

They moved, leaving the remaining people alone.

Siersha's gaze lingered on me for a while, but she didn't say anything.

.....Wait.

I turned to look at Zenith, who did the same.

I smiled.

She grimaced.

"Let's go, Shorty!" I said, grinning while she stomped her feet in anger. "By the way, where are we going?"

"Do you have anything to buy?"

"No?"

"Then shut up," she said, taking me somewhere.

The bird seemed to like pecking me, which I completely ignored.

My mind wandered back to Amaury.

'Looks like he is controlling himself well.'

It's clear as day that he likes Heather, no doubt about it.

If things go as they were supposed to in the game, then the like will turn into obsession in no time.

The obsession that he will do his best to hide before Heather proposes to Elijah.

His obsession with her will lead to a civil war between the werewolves back in Lumina.

The fallout?

The extinction of the Fenrir Highbloods in Akasha.

All because of a one-sided crush.

[<Are you going to help him?>]

Inna asked, snapping me from my trail of thoughts.

'Why should I?'

I replied, shrugging.

It's not like I owe him anything, and neither can I change who he loves.

I am done being the good guy who helps everyone.

Helping him isn't something that I want to do.

[<It will cost millions of lives—.>]

'Will you be disappointed if I don't help him?'

[<Why would I?>]

'Then it doesn't matter.'

I don't need to prove anything to anyone.

As long as I don't disappoint or hurt those I care about, then it doesn't really matter.

In the end, nobody knows that I have the knowledge of the future.

No one can lecture me that I am wrong for not saving innocents.

"Oye!"

"What now?" I snapped, glaring at both Zenith and the bird.

The fuck is wrong with the bird anyway?

"Stop shouting!" Zenith huffed. "Just follow me."

She turned on her heels, entering a shop.

Sighing, I followed behind her.

"Welcome." The staff smiled as she welcomed both of us with a small bow.

"How can I assist you?"

"Can you show me some accessories for elven dress?" Zenith calmly replied, looking at the lady.

"This way, ma'am." The lady smiled, taking us further in.

I quietly looked around the place filled with different types of traditional accessories.

Some belonged to elves, some vampires, and some Asura.

Hmm.

Most of the Asura's accessories were rugged and hard.

Well, it does suit their nature.

"Would you like some new ones or the old ones?" The lady asked, looking at Zenith.

"Old ones," she replied.

The lady nodded before smiling toward me. "We also have matching accessories."

Zenith turned to look at me, a revolting expression on her face.

"We are NOT a couple," she grimaced.

"Yeah," I agreed, keeping a straight face. "She's my daughter."

The staff blinked, her professional demeanor faltering for a second. "Oh, really?"

"Why would I lie—"

"Can you shut up!" Zenith shouted, elbowing me in the ribs.

I groaned, rubbing my side.

The fuck, that hurt.

How?

I looked at the girl weirdly.

Even a Low-Overlord can't hurt me that easily.

"Can you show me, please?" Zenith asked.

"Sure," the lady replied with a bright smile, looking at us.

"She got the wrong idea," I mumbled, leaning toward her.

"And whose fault is that?" She grumbled, glaring at me.

I don't know.

I shrugged as I started to walk out.

"I will be outside."

"Sure."

The automatic doors hissed open as I stepped out, wandering aimlessly down the corridor.

"What?"

This shit likes to peck me, doesn't it?

At this point, I don't even care.

"No."

"Yeah, fuck you too."

Ignoring the constant chirping of the bird, I looked around the place, trying to find someone.

And after roaming around for a while, I found her.

Standing outside a shop.

...Talking to a group of boys.

Uzume Highbloods, from the looks of them.

I quickly walked towards her.

"Hey, Siersha!" I called her, taking everyone's attention.

Her crimson eyes flicked toward me, confused. "Can I help you?"

She tilted her head in confusion as I grabbed her hand.

"Let's go."
Find more chapters on empire

I urged, dragging her with me.

I looked back at those boys, glaring at me.

But they didn't seem like they were going to pursue us.

I led her to a shop before stopping in front of it.

"Who were they?" I asked, making her look at me.

"That's none of your business," she replied with an annoyed look.

"Where is Carson?" I asked.

"Busy," she replied curtly.

I drew in a deep breath to suppress my annoyance as I raised my hand towards her.

"What?" She asked, looking at me.

"You haven't given me your life energy today," I said, bringing a finger near her mouth. "Twice a day, remember?"

"Are you insane?" Her face reddened as she slapped my hand down. "We're in public!"

"And?" I cut her off. "You promised twice a day."

"I did not make such a promise," she replied, her voice harsh as she glared at me.

"Excuse me."

We both looked at the staff who walked out of the shop.

"Yes?" Siersha replied.

"Could you take your argument somewhere else? You're disturbing the customers—"

"We're going inside," Siersha cut her off, dragging me into the shop.

"It's for couples—"

"We're engaged," she interrupted again, pushing past the stunned woman.

I followed, barely suppressing a groan.

The shop was filled with couples' nightwear, most of it overly elaborate and clearly designed for romance.

"..."

I think we entered the wrong shop.

"Can you really announce our engagement like that?" I asked, pushing past my awkwardness.

"What do you mean?"

"Hasn't your grandfather ordered you not to mention our engagement?" I asked, looking at her.

Her expression hardened, confirming my suspicion.

"We are in disguise," she replied, walking further in.

"Isn't your grandfather waiting for a grand event to announce it to the public?" I said, trailing behind her. "Just to do maximum damage to elves' unity—"

"Why don't you go ahead and announce it then?" she challenged, looking at me. "By all means, spoil his plans."

I met her crimson eyes.

Unable to respond.

If I do that, there's no guarantee that Edwin won't spill about Muspelh and Neplh to the elves.

Edwin is unpredictable.

And I don't want to risk it.

Breaking eye contact, she turned and began browsing the store.

I sighed, following her.

Having nothing else to do, I looked at the dresses as there weren't many people inside the place.

"Hmm?"

Something caught my eye as I walked toward a pair of nightwear.

It was a white pajama set with black patches.

Wouldn't this look good on Shyamal?

It will match her hair.

"Hey, Siersha."

"What?"

"Come here," I said, standing in front of the nightwear.

"What?" She asked, but her gaze quickly moved towards the dress.

I gestured to the outfit. "What do you think of this?"

"...It's good," she said, her voice barely a whisper.

"I thought so too," I mumbled, rubbing my chin. "Should I buy it?"

"You don't need to," she replied, shaking her head. "I don't wear these types of dresses."

"Huh?" I tilted my head, looking at her. "Who said it's for you?"

She slowly turned to look at me, her lips curling up in a small smile.

"Then who is this for?" she asked, tilting her head.

"My girlfriend," I replied, shrugging. "I thought this one would look good—"

I instinctively pushed my body back as she tried to slap me.

"What was that for?" I asked, glaring at her.

She didn't answer, instead storming out of the shop, leaving me standing there, utterly confused.

What did I do?

[<You are dumb.>]

'I know, but why this time?'

[<You don't know how women think.>]

'Then teach me, my lady.'

[<No.>]

'Tch.'

The little blue bird pecked my head once again.

"What do you want?" I groaned, trying to catch it, but it abruptly flew away.

Leaving me alone.

Stupid bird.

[<....You do know that isn't a bird, right?>]

'Huh? It isn't?'

[<Dumb.>]

'Wait, if it's not a bird, then what is it?'

[<That's a baby phoenix.>]

'Nah. Not possible.'

I scoffed at her words.

It's impossible.

They are all dead.

I saw that with my own eyes.

They all died at the hands of Morningstar.

And the only phoenix left—

I froze in place as realization dawned upon me.

I abruptly turned to look at the place the little bird flew.

There was only one phoenix who is owned by...

"Echo."
