Chapter494-Mist’s Doubts
Daniel had originally intended to stay out of it. He didn't want to make contact with these future gods too early in this era. But given the situation now, if he remained passive, Daniel felt that he wouldn't be able to ignore it.
After a brief moment of thought, he decided to intervene.
Without hesitation, he casually threw a Holy Fireball toward the goblins.
Before the two goblins could even react, the spot they were standing at was instantly obliterated by the explosion of the fireball!
In the blink of an eye, the two demigod-ranked goblins, who had been planning to become hunters, were turned into charcoal as if they were mere prey.
They were demigods! Yet, the reality was that they couldn't even withstand a single Holy Fireball.
This was the true extent of Daniel's power now. For demigods, even god-ranked entities, a casual wave of his hand could wipe out a whole group.
"Since you're attacking my friend, don't blame me for destroying you," Daniel said, his voice cold. "I didn't plan to step in, but your luck just ran out."
As Daniel's words fell, the aftershock of the Holy Fireball continued to wreak havoc. The intense heat melted parts of the cave walls in Desire Abyss, and the entire area began to grow unstable.
Sensing the sudden surge of energy, many demigods subconsciously scanned the area with their mind power. They wanted to figure out what had just happened and why such a terrifying battle had erupted.
"Could it be that a powerful demigod has entered Desire Abyss?"
The demigods who had sensed the fearsome energy fluctuations began to panic. Despite their own demigod strength, they could all tell in an instant that if they had been within the explosion's range, no amount of protective measures would have saved them. The result would have been their total annihilation—no soul left behind.
"Are you sure this wasn't caused by a Fake God?" one demigod asked.
"We, demigods, could never have this kind of power!"
"But according to the restrictions of Desire Abyss, Fake Gods can't enter!"
"Could someone have altered the entry requirements of the ruin?"
"Don't be ridiculous. That's something even demigods can't do! Unless a god did it, but why would a god bother with this?"
At this moment, the demigods in Desire Abyss were engaged in a heated discussion. They were all trying to figure out who had unleashed such a terrifying force.
If they found out who it was, they would definitely try to stay as far away as possible, even willing to leave the Abyss if necessary.
The demigods began casting wary glances at the unfamiliar faces around them.
Meanwhile, in a corner that most people had overlooked, Daniel's figure appeared in front of Mist.
"Mist," he said calmly.
Mist stepped forward, and almost instinctively, she activated her domain.
However, in front of Daniel, her domain was completely powerless. Daniel simply raised his hand, and his Infinity Domain suppressed hers effortlessly.
But that small motion shocked Mist beyond belief. She hadn't expected the other party to perceive the attack she had launched!
"Who… who are you?" Mist asked, her voice filled with a mix of confusion and suspicion. "What's your purpose for appearing before me?"
Despite the panic rising inside her, Mist managed to remain composed. Through Daniel's Eye of Insight, he could clearly see her thoughts. She was already mentally preparing herself to flee.
In fact, even before Daniel made his move, he had already used Mental Deduction to predict what might happen next.
Mist had always been a character walking on the edge. Even Daniel had few chances to interact with her, mostly because her domain was so subtle that others could easily overlook her existence.
When Daniel didn't immediately respond, Mist grew more nervous. Her eyes locked onto him, and her expression hardened slightly with a sense of determination.
"So, are you planning to kill me?" she asked, her tone now tinged with caution.
Daniel smiled faintly and then withdrew his suppression of Mist's domain.
In the next instant, Mist regained her ability to move freely. At the same time, Daniel's voice rang in her ears.
"Don't misunderstand," Daniel said gently. "I think we should be friends."
"Although you don't know me now, in the future, we will be good friends."
"Future… friends?" Mist tilted her head slightly, her expression a mix of confusion and curiosity as she studied Daniel carefully.
Daniel merely smiled, continuing, "Yes, a friend from the future. You should have already become friends with Kartora by now, right?"
At the mention of Kartora's name, a flood of memories rushed into Mist's mind—images of the interactions she had shared with Kartora.
Indeed, she and Kartora were now friends. So, Mist nodded in agreement.
"Yes, I'm friends with Kartora," she said, her voice thoughtful.
"So… were you brought here by Kartora?" Mist asked, her keen mind quickly piecing things together. She had already figured out why Daniel had appeared here.
On the other hand, Daniel nodded, confirming, "In a sense, yes, she brought me here."
Mist let out a small sigh of relief. From the power she had felt from Daniel, she had realized that if he had been her enemy, she would have been in great danger. But now that she knew he wasn't, the tension in her body eased, though she still remained cautious.
"Well, Kartora really is something, isn't she? The Time Domain is truly mysterious—it even brought you from the future to this time."
"Can I take it to mean that Kartora sent you here to help me?" Mist asked, her eyes narrowing slightly as she tried to read Daniel's intentions.
Sensing the reduction in Mist's hostility, Daniel turned his gaze toward the depths of Desire Abyss.
"So, your goal is to go deeper into the Abyss?" he asked.
"Yes, I want to explore the deepest parts of Desire Abyss. But… to get there, I need to gather enough keys," Mist said, revealing her plan without hesitation.
She then looked at Daniel again, asking, "So… you came here to fulfill your own desires?"
"It is said that if you obtain the Desire Core, all your wishes will be granted," she added, a hint of intrigue in her voice. "It's the most precious treasure in the entire Origin Continent."
