Chapter493-Desire Abyss (Part 2)

When Daniel saw the name "Abyss," he paused for a moment. He was quite familiar with the concept of an abyss. However, he wasn't sure what made this "Desire Abyss" so different.

Without thinking, Daniel instinctively looked downward, but found nothing of particular note. Nevertheless, he was well aware of one thing: in a hundred years, this current largest ruin in the world would disappear completely.

[Desire Abyss]

[Entry Requirement: Demigod]

[Description: A place where your wishes can come true, but desires and wishes often lie just a thin line apart.]

After seeing this description, Daniel was momentarily taken aback. Normally, entering a ruin was similar to entering an underground labyrinth—only after completing certain objectives could one obtain the rewards.

What made ruins different, however, was the inherent danger they posed. It was just like real life, where death was permanent, and resurrection was not an option.

For most awakeners, ruins were a significant threat.

Most of these ruins existed because, after the fall of a god rank entity, their divine positions were left behind for the worthy to inherit. Naturally, some god rank entities, upon perishing, didn't deliberately leave behind ruins. But as time passed, ruins would gradually form around their divine positions. This was likely a manifestation of the god's power.

Daniel pushed aside his thoughts about ruins and their origins and, without hesitation, stepped into the Desire Abyss.

The next moment, the scene before him changed drastically.

Daniel found himself in a vast mining cave. Unlike the typical caves he had encountered, this one's walls were lined with pale pink ores that glowed faintly in the dark. Although the glow wasn't particularly bright, it was sufficient to illuminate the narrow space around him.

Daniel moved quickly. Within a few breaths, he had already passed through the tunnel and was deep within the Desire Abyss.

He immediately released his mind power and found, to his surprise, that there were several demigods within the ruins. What startled him further was that, unlike most ruins, these demigods were not participating in trials. Instead, each one was armed with a pickaxe, tirelessly mining.

Just then, a loud, ecstatic shout came from not far away.

"Life Crystal! I actually found a Life Crystal!"

Through his mind power, Daniel could see a gnome demigod holding a seven-colored mana stone, grinning from ear to ear with excitement.

But before he could react, a shadow swiftly passed by.

The Life Crystal in the gnome's hands vanished in an instant.

By the time the gnome demigod realized what had happened, he immediately ran after the shadow like a madman, shouting curses as he went.

"You bastard! Shameful thief!"

"If you don't return the Life Crystal, I swear I'll kill you!"

The area descended into chaos. Even demigods couldn't remain calm in the presence of a Life Crystal. After all, not everyone was like Daniel, who possessed such extraordinary God Rank Skills.

For a demigod, obtaining a Life Crystal was almost like gaining an extra life.

At that moment, Daniel suddenly noticed a frail figure casually strolling through the chaos. The figure appeared quite small, only in their teens at most. If not for Daniel's powerful Eye of Insight, he would almost have missed noticing her presence.

Despite the ongoing melee around her, the demigods seemed completely oblivious to her. They were fighting amongst themselves but ignored her entirely.

"Mist, I didn't expect you to be here too," Daniel muttered to himself, and soon Mist's attributes appeared before him.

[Mist]

[Level: 500]

[Domain: Mist]

[Current Tier: Demigod]

Daniel was taken aback. In this era, Mist had already reached the demigod tier. Compared to others, her progress was astounding.

After all, in this era, even Luck Goddess Luke had only just reached level 200 and hadn't even acquired a divine position yet.

Just then, Mist raised one of her delicate hands.

The next moment, the Life Crystal actually flew into her hand on its own.

The surrounding demigods, however, seemed blind, completely unaware that Mist had taken the Life Crystal. Instead, they continued to fight for it.

"This is the eighth key. I just need two more to go deeper into the abyss," Mist said, lightly squeezing the surface of the Life Crystal.

The moment she did, the crystal emitted a dazzling green light.

Seconds later, the light began to fade, and in Mist's palm, there was now a green key.

She smiled smugly, then looked around, starting to search for the next key's location.

Throughout all this, Mist never once noticed the pair of eyes that had been following her from above.

"Ha ha, this damn little thief actually managed to obtain the god position of the Mist domain. No wonder I couldn't detect her," a voice sneered.

"Luckily, I marked the key, or I would have been made into a fool!"

Through his Eye of Insight, Daniel could clearly see that several strands of mind power were locked onto Mist.

It was evident that these demigods' domains had something to do with locking onto targets.

Just then, Daniel's mind power suddenly locked onto a dark corner.

There, two goblin demigods were gazing greedily in Mist's direction.

"Brother, what a delicious little girl. Should we eat her?" one of the goblins said.

"You fool, she's a demigod in the Mist domain. How would you even kill her?" the other goblin scoffed.

"My clever brother, we just need to combine our domains, and we'll be invincible!"

One of the goblins, grayish-green in color, raised his hand and summoned a hunting bow, wiping the drool from his mouth.

"Clever brother, lend me your divine power! All the keys we need are on her!"

"You fool, I'll help you this time, but the girl must be mine to devour first!"

"Deal, my brother!"

The next moment, a cold glint flashed!

Although these goblins were using ordinary bows and arrows, with the aid of divine power, their attack was still formidable.

Their goal was simple: kill Mist, seize the keys on her, and satisfy their hunger!

"Brother, I can't wait any longer!"
