Chapter 122: The Descent of the Buddha's Child_2

How despicable can they be?

Not sleeping in the middle of the night, waiting for lights out to launch a sneak attack?

I swear, even killing all of you wouldn't be enough to quench my hatred!

Scared off two, made one piss himself, and left one hanging in a tree. That about covers it.

A little regretfully, Han Lie untangled himself from the white silk strip and landed softly.

He walked to his bed, tiptoed, and reached under his pillow.

Then, he pulled a book from the bookshelf.

Buddhist scripture in his left hand, a claw hammer in his right—ultimate form, activated!

Han Lie slowly approached Kong Yize, the head of the hammer scraping along the metal bed frame, emitting a harsh SCREEECH.

The sense of terror grew even stronger.

Reaching Kong Yize, Han Lie suddenly swung the claw hammer forcefully.

The hammerhead grazed Kong Yize's cheek and smashed into the metal railing with a loud BANG!

"Get down!"

Han Lie's voice was neither loud nor angry, yet it carried an intense, unwavering calm.

Kong Yize shuddered, gritted his teeth, and his eyes rolled back.

Fuck, this is so... thrilling...

When he finally recovered, he mustered his remaining courage and glared at Han Lie, only to meet a pair of eyes devoid of any emotion, eyes that didn't even seem to be looking at anything in particular.

In the dark dormitory, only sparse, fragmented moonlight flickered.

Some details were unclear, but because they were close enough, Kong Yize sensed a void and emptiness.

The man before him seemed to be standing there, head tilted, looking at him.

But in reality, he was just standing there, head tilted, looking at *something*—but definitely not at him.

Kong Yize couldn't perceive any emotion.

Only emptiness.

WHOOSH. Kong Yize jolted again, goosebumps erupting all over his skin.

He finally understood why everyone said this bastard was a psycho.

Damn! So psychos are this badass?!

Kong Yize muttered curses under his breath but cautiously climbed out of bed.

He kept his glutes clenched tight, not daring to let anything slip—literally.

He stood stiffly before Han Lie, as if being punished.

Resist? Maybe next time... definitely next time...

Han Lie leisurely surveyed the two intruders before him.

If anyone resembled zombies, it was these two, not Han Lie. They were stiff all over, looking utterly stupefied.

Is this it? How could that be possible!

Although I, Brother Lie, am magnanimous, not taking a hammer to you is already the height of kindness. But how could I let you go without you paying a sufficient price?

"Squat."

Han Lie tapped the ladder of the upper bunk with the hammer, producing a crisp CLINK.

The tap was light, yet it felt as if it struck their brainstems, reverberating deep within their minds.

With a SWISH, Dan Zihao immediately and obediently squatted down against the wall.

Kong Yize, however, gritted his teeth, his unpleasant face contorting like a bitter melon.

"Brother Lie, I'll tell you whose idea this was..."

CLANG!

Han Lie struck the metal ladder again, cutting off Kong Yize's attempted explanation, then spoke calmly.

"No need. I don't care. Squat."

Kong Yize's eyes widened in anger, and he suddenly clenched his fists.

If I could fucking squat right now, would I still be putting up with your shit?! I said I won't squat, and I mean it!

Then, he strode to the wall and, with a THUD, dropped to his knees...

He knelt ramrod straight, then slowly, slowly settled back onto his heels, and finally... managed to hold it in!

Phew...

A hint of relief appeared on Kong Yize's face.

A fight? I'm not afraid. The hammer? I'm not scared of that either. I'm just terrified I'll lose control if things get physical, understand?

Dan Zihao had recovered a little by now—still terrified, but his brain had regained a sliver of rationality.

So, he shot Kong Yize a strange look, his eyes filled with intense anger.

You were the loudest braggart, but you're the quickest to suck up! Shit, have some damn shame!

Then, without hesitation, he shifted from a squat to a kneel.

If even the supposedly tough Kong Yize caved, we shouldn't be stubborn...

After the two of them knelt side-by-side against the wall, Han Lie was momentarily stunned.

You guys acting like this... it makes me feel so unaccomplished...

But the task at hand still needed doing. So, Brother Lie dragged over a chair and sat down imposingly before the two of them.

Two meters away, to his right, was the ladder to Huang Wei's upper bunk.

He toyed with the hammer in one hand, tapping it rhythmically against the ladder.

CLANG. CLANG. CLANG...

Once every three seconds, no more, no less, the rhythm perfectly steady.

Han Lie sat with his back to the light, his entire face obscured by shadows. He remained silent, just tapping the ladder, looking more like a mafia boss than any actual mafia boss, more like a butcher than any actual butcher.

With every CLANG, Dan Zihao's and Kong Yize's eyelids twitched.

Haohao felt like his sanity was being hammered to pieces.

Bro, can't you just yell at me instead?!

Dan Zihao was extremely uncomfortable. It wasn't just the dampness in his pants; the psychological pressure was immense and steadily growing.

The other guys had called Han Lie a psycho. He hadn't believed it before, but now he believed it completely and utterly.

Hanging himself from the ceiling in the middle of the night just for kicks—is that something a normal person does?

There was no one else in the dorm. What if he'd accidentally killed himself playing around like that?

He truly has no regard for human life...

And now he's just silent... Bro, what on earth are you thinking? Can you give us a way out?

The more Haohao thought, the more terrified he became. Holding back tears, he shivered and stammered out an apology, "I'm sorry, Brother Lie! You're a man of great magnanimity, please let us go... I'll pay you!"

Han Lie didn't respond, merely looking at Dan Zihao with an odd expression.

Asking for money outright won't fly.

That's illegal detention plus extortion; it's written right there in the criminal code.

As long as I don't make any verbal threats, it just means you don't want to leave on your own. No court could convict me of illegal detention.
