Reborn with Consumption System

Chapter 122: The Descent of the Buddha's Child

The moonlight was still bright, the curtains still fluttered, and the man still drifted.

The only difference from before was...

His eyes were open.

If this were a movie, it might not be considered terrifying by some, but it certainly wasn't nothing. Those who didn't like horror movies might not be able to handle it, while fans might find it quite intriguing.

But for this to happen in reality, especially when everyone initially thought it was just an easy fight...

What the fuck kind of hellish plot twist is this?!

Huang Wei, Xiao Cheng, Hai Tao, and the others, who were watching from a distance, were about to piss themselves from fear, screaming their heads off for quite a while.

Suddenly, a strong wind gusted outside the window.

Rooms 404 and 405 faced each other, creating a strong cross-draft. The curtains billowed wildly, CRACKLING and POPPING loudly like bat wings flapping fiercely.

At the same time, the corpse-playing Han Lie was uncontrollably blown forward...

WHOOSH...

Zhou Ci's forehead sported a large bump. He didn't feel the pain at that moment; his head was just dizzy, and he saw stars.

He had just managed to scramble to his feet and instinctively looked up...

Just in time to see the feigned corpse, Han Lie, lunging at him through the air.

"Mommy!"

Zhou Ci was so scared his gallbladder nearly split. He scrambled up, a mess of flailing limbs, then turned and fled again.

BANG!

He hit the damn doorframe again!

This time, he smashed his nose. Sore as it was, it didn't stop him from crawling out of Room 404 and bolting as fast as his legs could carry him.

In a flash, the pretty boy was gone.

"AAAAHHHH..."

The guys in Room 405 couldn't stop screaming. Then they saw Zhou Ci, a large bump on his forehead and his nose gushing blood, scrambling and rolling away down the hallway.

Then, BANG!

A loud crash followed as the draft slammed the door to Room 405 shut.

The guys let out a collective sigh of relief. Xiao Cheng was the first to rush out. CLICK! He bolted the door and immediately leaped back to his buddies.

They hugged each other, their screams finally subsiding, but they continued to tremble for a long time.

And every time a scream came from across the hall, they would all shudder in unison.

"I knew it, I just knew it..."

Huang Wei muttered to himself, his eyes glazed over. Nobody had any idea what he supposedly knew.

With the door to Room 405 closed, the draft subsided. Han Lie, who had been momentarily blown forward by the wind, swung back to his original position.

CLACK!

Inertia wasn't easy to control; the slipper on Han Lie's right foot flew off.

It landed with a CLACK right in front of Xiao Hu. He was kneeling on the floor, kowtowing and frantically muttering prayers to appease his Great-Grandfather's spirit. Suddenly, an unknown object dropped right in front of his face. He let out a choked GASP!

Every single damn hair on his body stood on end.

"Mommy!"

Using his elbows and knees, with a few frantic SCRAPES, Xiao Hu managed to shuffle backward at least a meter while still kneeling, then scrambled towards the bright light outside the door.

Fuck this!

If I'm not running now, what the hell am I waiting for?

The fast ones get to feast; the slow ones get their portraits hung in the memorial hall for others to mourn...

However, even the best-laid plans can go awry.

Xiao Hu had just crawled over to Dan Zihao. As he propped himself up on the floor to stand, his hand landed in a puddle of liquid. He slipped, and with a SQUISH, he faceplanted right into it.

What the fuck is this stuff?!

It was yellowish, slippery, and reeked of piss and something gamy. It smeared all over his mouth.

Xiao Hu's eyes bulged, his pupils constricting violently. He looked up along Dan Zihao's leg... URGH!

Dan Zihao, you bastard!

Xiao Hu was utterly fed up with Dan Zihao. If he hadn't insisted on picking a fight, would they have encountered such horrifying luck today?

That son of a bitch! Go keep Great-grandpa company!

As Xiao Hu squeezed past Dan Zihao, he grabbed the doorknob and, with all his might, yanked it shut.

CLANG!

With a loud crash, the door to Room 404 slammed shut. The crushing weight on Xiao Hu's heart, as if his Great-Grandfather himself was pressing down on it, instantly lifted.

Phew, saved...

Students from several nearby dorm rooms were poking their heads out to see what was happening. Xiao Hu suddenly felt a wave of warmth and camaraderie towards them.

Just as he was about to grin at everyone, a few drops of the unknown liquid trickled from the corner of his mouth onto his tongue.

Damn, that taste is strong!

URGH!

Xiao Hu leaned against the wall, bent over, and spectacularly vomited.

Room 404 plunged back into darkness.

Those who could run had run. The remaining two simply couldn't move.

Dan Zihao had wet himself so thoroughly in his relief that his mind went completely blank.

Who am I?

Where am I?

What am I doing?

He didn't know.

Kong Yize didn't dare to move.

The spicy seafood he'd had for lunch had been incredibly satisfying and stimulating. The few cans of cheap beer he'd chugged while bullshitting later had made things even more exhilarating.

Now, both his bladder and sphincter muscles were twitching dangerously.

Although he wasn't reduced to a blank state of terror like Dan Zihao, his situation was far more embarrassing.

The position—draped precariously over the bedrail—was hardly dignified, but not clenching his legs simply wasn't an option.

As waves of urgency surged, all he could do was clench his teeth and hold on.

I'd rather fucking die!

Dying here is better than being scared shitless by someone!

Yes, Kong Yize had already confirmed it: Han Lie was definitely not some reanimated corpse.

He still couldn't figure out why this bastard had strung himself up in an empty dorm room, swinging precariously from the bedframe as if his life depended on it, but there was no doubt: the guy opposite him was alive.

Kong Yize gritted his teeth, swearing viciously to himself—

I'll concede today! Just you wait until my stomach settles... OH~NO!

With another desperate clench, a thrill of pure terror shot up his spine to his scalp.

Han Lie hadn't initially understood what was happening. But once realization dawned, he was so furious his lungs felt ready to explode.
