Reborn With a Magic System

Chapter 88 – Reports

"What do you mean nothing?" Damion asked in disbelief.

"Such items are considered too valuable to have a price," Arica answered. "So, the Adventurer Association won't give us anything for it. Most likely it will get put up for auction and after the auction house takes their cut and the Adventurer Association takes their cut, we will split the remainder."

"Sounds reasonable," Ethan said. "Are we going to continue to explore, or are we ready to leave this place?"

"Head back," Matthew said. "Judging by the path that we came here by, the goblins picked the forest clean and were likely herding the Demonic Beasts into the cave."

"Why would they do that?" Ethan asked.

"If you want an answer to that then learn to speak the language of the goblins."

"Do you think that is possible?" Damion asked suddenly. He had a quest from the Magic System to learn the ancient magic language, why not the language of goblins. Though the question was, how to hear enough of it to learn, or even get the quest from the Magic System.

"Maybe. The goblins obviously have a language. The hard part is getting to sit down with one that doesn't want to rip your face off."

"As interesting as that would be, let's get out of here," Arica cut in.

The party decided to heed Arica's wish and headed back to the cave. When the group peered inside the cave they saw something that surprised them, though it probably should not have. Inside the cave were a dozen Aerico.

"New spawns from the dungeon core?" Ethan asked after he took his look.

"Yes, there are probably more Aerico or other Demonic Beasts further in the cave," Matthew answered.

"I can clear these out," Damion said as he jumped down into the cave.

Damion quickly unsheathed his sword when he hit the floor of the cave and started slashing at the Aerico. These Aerico were passive and Damion was able to make short work of them.

Shortly after Damion began slicing through the Aerico, Ethan jumped down after him and began harvesting the Demonic Cores. When Damion finished off the last of the Aerico it had hardly hit the ground before its core was harvested.

Damion picked up his bag they had left in the cave before and looked at the dungeon core in the cave ceiling.

"Ready?" Damion asked the group and after he received a chorus of affirmatives he sent out a fire slash from his sword slashing the dungeon core in half.

With the dungeon core destroyed, Damion and his party were sucked out of the dungeon and appeared in the crater with the dungeon portal. Damion looked up at the sky and saw the sun was well past noon. Judging by the time of day, Damion realized they had spent quite a few hours in the dungeon.

Now that the Dungeon Breach was cleared and the risk of Demonic Beasts randomly emerging from the portal the guards stationed around the portal were allowed to go and rest. A few moments passed and Mage Fletcher showed up to usher their party to the sorting platform.

Arica started unloading her personal storage space onto the platform while Damion took out the Magic Absorbing Crystals from his pack, keeping them wrapped in his blanket, and placed them on the platform.

"Quite the variety you all have brought back," Mage Fletcher said as he looked over the growing list of loot on his tablet.

"We did our best to explore the new dungeon," Arica said.

"Magic Absorbing Crystals and a Heavenly Wind Enhancing Fruit," Mage Fletcher said surprised. "Quite a few low tier alchemy ingredients. Did you all uproot an entire alchemy field?"

"No, the goblins did that. We were able to take advantage of their harvest."

"Is this everything?" Mage Fletcher said and when he received a nod from Arica he sucked everything except the Magic Absorbing Crystals into his personal space. "Bill, will you bring those along and return Knight Wells' blanket when you have those secured. If you all will follow me we will get started on your debriefing."

The party followed Mage Fletcher into his tent where a table was set up with food and a tablet at each place.

"Help yourselves to as much as you want while you enter in your account of the dungeon run. Please be as detailed as possible in your reports. The more detail you can provide now, the smoother future runs will be."

Damion did not need to be told twice. He sat down and started eating with one hand and picked up the tablet with his other. As Damion ate he had just his thumb on the tablet and focused on his journey through the dungeon. The amazing function of this tablet, which was an upgraded version of the more commonly available tablets, was that as long as a person was touching it the tablet would read their thoughts.

As the tablet read Damion's mind he focused on the events and as the tablet typed out his account and even created a map of the cave and path to the goblin village, Damion needed to only keep his mind focused on the events he wanted to narrate. Occasionally, Damion's mind wandered, and he had to focus his mind on going back and removing his thoughts about how tasty his steak dinner was, but overall Damion was able to get his account down fairly quickly.

While Fletcher began reading each of their accounts, Damion turned his focused to the Magic System and the notifications he had put off reading.

As the notifications rolled in Damion realized something was off. He managed two completions of the D Rank quest and three of the E Rank quest, but only one from the F Rank quest.

'System, why did I only get one completing for the original kill quest?'

*Ding*

{Quest: Kill Ferocious Beasts or Demonic Beasts, has reached its maximum completion amount.}

'What is the maximum completion amount?'

{This quest increased the required number of kills by 5 for each completion to a maximum of quest of requiring 50 kills.}

'Is this maximum limit the same for all my kill quests?'

{Affirmative.}

When Damion heard the answer to the question from the Magic System he was a bit surprised. He had always wondered if there was an upper limit to the number of times he could complete the quest and now he had the answer. This meant that he would no longer get any credit from the Magic System for killing F Rank Ferocious or Demonic Beasts. It also meant he was more than half way done with the E Rank quest and nearing half done with the D Rank quests, but he was still a long way away from being able to take on C Rank beasts.
