Reborn With a Magic System

Chapter 100 – Zero

Once Damion was well ahead of the Deinosuchus, he stopped and pointed his sword at the Demonic Beast, unleashing a fire pillar attack from his sword's fire attack glyph. The attack splashed against the Deinosuchus' head leaving a slight burn. Damion was happy to see he had injured the Demonic Beast, but considering he had unleashed his best attack and only managed to slightly burn it did not bode well.

The Deinosuchus let out a roar and shot forward at Damion, trying to catch him in its jaws. Damion easily stepped out of the way and stabbed his sword into the side of the Demonic Beast, but he was not able to pierce its flesh.

Feeling Damion's attack, the Deinosuchus spun its body in search of Damion. When it spun it swung its tail quickly, which caught most of the other party off guard and they were knocked back by it. Luckily, no one was injured, but it served as a reminder to the party of the size of the Demonic Beast they were facing.

Damion continued to attack the Demonic Beast and dodge out of the way of its attacks. The Deinosuchus was quickly getting frustrated with his tactics and Damion was afraid the Demonic Beast was going to go after the more vulnerable members of his group if he and the brown-haired knight were not able to start hurting it.

"Go for the eyes," the healer shouted to Damion and the brown-haired knight.

The brown-haired knight was not in a position to be able to hit the eyes, but Damion believed it was a good idea. The problem was getting the Deinosuchus to stay still long enough to give either of them a clear shot.

Damion had already tried several times to hit the Demonic Beast in the eyes with fire slashes and fire pillars, but because of the size of the Deinosuchus, getting the right angle was not easy. The slightest movement by the Deinosuchus would result in his attack just hitting the beast's thick hide.

By now the Deinosuchus had a number of burns on its body from Damion's fire attacks and Damion had even begun trying to attack the same places repeatedly, hoping to wear down the Demonic Beast's defenses. Unfortunately, the Deinosuchus had very thick skin, Damion's attacks just weren't enough to penetrate, even after multiple attacks in the same location.

The brown-haired knight sent out another attack, catching the Deinosuchus' attention and not in a good way. The Demonic Beast let out a roar and it spewed fire out at the knight, catching him off guard and giving him quite the burns.

While the healer and the rest of the party rushed to pull the brown-haired knight out of the area where he might be trampled by the Deinosuchus for healing, Damion jumped on top of the beast.

Damion landed on the back of the Deinosuchus, and it evidently felt Damion landing on its back as it let out another roar and tried to turn its head to attack Damion. Luckily, the Deinosuchus' tail could not come around to swat Damion and the Deinosuchus could not turn its head far enough to spew fire at him. All Damion had to do now was figure out how to hurt the Demonic Beast from his new position, and he had to do it before the Deinosuchus turned its attention to his teammates.

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

Damion tried stabbing down, putting his full force behind his blade, but he was not able to pierce the strong hide of the Deinosuchus. Next he began unleashing fire attacks into the back of the Demonic Beast, but the Deinosuchus' armored hide on its back was stronger than elsewhere, and Damion was not even leaving slight burns.

The Deinosuchus was quickly realizing that while Damion was a nuisance, he was not a threat and began to turn its attention to the rest of Damion's party. As Damion felt the Deinosuchus move beneath him, he realized what the Demonic Beast was about to do and quickly started making his way up the Deinosuchus' back.

When Damion reached the back of the Deinosuchus' head, the Demonic Beast was opening its large jaws to spew out a fire attack at his party, leaving Damion with no choice but to attack quickly.

As the beast opened its jaws, Damion leapt forward and stabbed down with his sword into the eye of the Deinosuchus. Damion's sword pierced the Demonic Beast's eyeball and instead of a roar of fire, the Deinosuchus let out a roar of pain.

The Deinosuchus shook its head trying to shake loose Damion and his sword, but Damion hung on, his sword up to the hilt in the Demonic Beast's eye. Even though he was able to pierce the eye, his sword was not cutting through it, so Damion hung there unwilling to give up his weapon.

As the Deinosuchus continued to struggle, it brought one of its forelegs up in an attempt to swipe at its eye. The Demonic Beast's long claws slashed into Damion, overwhelming the magic shield of his armor and cutting into it. The force of the blow knocked Damion free of his sword, which was left in the Deinosuchus' eye.

Damion rolled on the ground trying to stay out from under the Deinosuchus' clawed foot as it stomped on the ground. Damion was able to keep the Deinosuchus' attention with his attack that put out one of the Demonic Beast's eyes, but it came at the cost of his weapon.

Now all Damion had was a dagger, that was not even an artifact. Not able to do any harm to the Deinosuchus and needing time to figure out how to get his sword back, Damion took off running. Damion figured if he was able to lead the Demonic Beast away, it would give their healer a chance to heal the brown-haired knight and perhaps he would be able to lend Damion a weapon.

What Damion did not realize, was that the healer had already hit the panic button on the tablet. This was for use when teams ran into Demonic Beasts that were too strong for them. The healer only hoped that help would arrive before Damion ended up eaten.

The Deinosuchus chased after Damion and as the young soon to be mage dodged spouts of fire coming from behind, he realized he did have one weapon left. Now that he was away from his party members, Damion could freely use Mana Absorption. Activating the spell Damion turned and jumped high into the air. Damion's leap took him well above the snout of the Deinosuchus and Damion landed on the creatures back.

Damion quickly grabbed onto the spikes on the Demonic Beast's back to stop himself from being shaken off as Mana Absorption began siphoning mana from the Deinosuchus into Damion.

The Deinosuchus evidently realized what was happening and tried to rid itself of Damion. Luckily, Damion guessed this was likely to happen and had already secured a strong grip.

In the distance the rest of the party watched in confusion as the Deinosuchus stopped and appeared to be trying to shake like a dog. The only thing they could guess was that to avoid being eaten, Damion had jumped on the Demonic Beast's back and was refusing to let go.

The Deinosuchus eventually had enough and threw itself on its back. When Damion realized the Demonic Beast meant to squish him, he threw himself free of the Deinosuchus's back before it could smash him into the ground. Just as Damion was feeling down and wondering what his next move was he heard a familiar sound.
