Chapter 1043: Union of Greek Socialist Republics (UGSR) (3)

As time went on, more cities began to see riots and rebellions against the nobles and landlords who had occupied all the land and left the common people nothing to eat.

In such an atmosphere, several more nobles were killed, and the lands were liberated and seeing this, the remaining nobles were scared out of their wits. At the beginning, they were still arrogant, thinking that although their situation was currently troublesome, they did not think that it was something they could not handle. After all, nobles in this era are raised with the idea that they are superior, so the pride and arrogance in their bones wouldn't let them have the thought of conceding to the peasants and slaves.

However, when things reached the point where it is right now, with several nobles dead and all their properties confiscated, the remaining nobles had no other choice but to quickly rein in their actions, give up some of the benefits to appease the peasants, and tightly guard their own estate and did not step out.

Although their idea of burrowing inside their homes like a turtle was silly, their actions were ultimately effective, because due to the Bharatiya Empire not interfering at all, from what little land the nobles gave out for fear of incurring the wrath of the people, a new middle class rose up, and this middle class was formed by the people who were fast enough to grab the land. As soon as they grabbed the land and went from being the oppressed to the oppressor, employing several peasants of their own and even some slaves, their fight against the nobles ended. Now that they have gained the benefits they needed, why would they fight anymore?

Interestingly enough, such a situation formed in the regions where the nobles were slaughtered as well, with the more influential peasants taking more land for themselves, while the less influential or weak would get nothing.

In such a way, a new class of elite, middle class, and lower class was naturally created, with the elite owning the means of production, the middle class owning the means of human resources as they commanded several groups of people who worked for them, and the lower class responsible for the means of labour.

Holding a scythe, Leander had a look of disbelief on his face. When the rebellion broke out a few weeks ago and his master was killed by the angry mob, he thought his life would be much better, but who would have thought that only a few days later, his master's land was divided up into five parts and suddenly five new masters came into existence.

All the masters had their own people, and he who was the slave of the previous noble master was once again tasked with menial and gruelling labour that only netted a few grains of rice, enough to just fill his stomach for the day.

"Is this going to be my entire life?" he asked himself with extreme unwillingness. All of his family was murdered and brutally butchered right in front of his eyes. He had no one left to call as family. Even if he died, he would simply become fertiliser for the fields, so why was he still alive? He might as well die.

His eyes immediately turned red, and his hands holding the scythe trembled.

"Hey brat, why don't you get on with it and cut the weeds? We do not have a lot of time to plant the seeds!!"

Leander was ready to end it all, but as soon as he heard those words, endless anger rose in his heart. It was the same kind of anger he felt when the lackey of the noble master repeatedly whipped him and made him do all kinds of heavy work.

He would always suppress the rage, maybe because of fear or maybe he wanted to live, but it looked like the limiter that was holding him back had snapped in half. The anger, which would always disappear like it was doused by water, surged through his heart like a volcano erupting even under the ginormous pressure of the ocean and passed through the veins like a poisonous snake.

"Shing!!!!"

The scythe blinked in the air with unimaginable speed and lodged into the neck of the overseer. Leander's eyes were bloodshot. He was like a wounded beast roaring with desperation.

"Die!!"

His body, due to long-term malnutrition looked like it was just skin and bones, so although the scythe was sharp, he could not exert enough power to cleanly cut through the neck. So he yanked the scythe back with all of his strength and tried again.

"DIEE!!"

And again.

"Die!"

And again. "Die." Again. "Die." Again. "Die." Again.

"Ahhhh!"

Leander's roar had become hoarse, with sound barely coming out, but looking at his demonic appearance, it would make anyone shudder even without the voice.

His whole body was drenched in blood, and his face was crimson. His eyes, which were deep blue, had taken a shade of the setting sun.

'Pha!' 'Pha!' 'Pha!'

Leander stood there panting, out of breath, but his face had a victorious smile. It was the smile of a nerd who beat the living hell out of a bully and broke all of his bones.

He spat out the blood that had gotten in his mouth and turned around to see if the other overseers were coming to get him. He was ready to give up and die, but when he looked around, he was shocked to discover that all the overseers had arrows in their heads, all dead or lying down bleeding out.

His eyes widened, and feeling something, he looked to his back. He was shocked. There was a person actually standing there looking at him with a serious expression. This person did not look too old. He had black hair, pale white skin just like his, and deep green eyes. He held a bow in his hands. Leander immediately understood that this was the person who had saved him.

There was awkward silence for a few seconds until the man spoke out, "Will you come with me? I will make sure you and everyone like you get a bite to eat."

"What's your name?" Leander's words were barely understandable as his voice had already disappeared, but still ,the man was able to understand the intent.

"Paleologos, Georgios Paleologos...a farmer."

Leander was silent for a few seconds before shrugging and walking forward. It was not like he had anything better to do anyway. He did not have a goal of his own. Just a few minutes ago, he wanted to kill himself, and now suddenly he had gotten freedom. What would he do with this freedom he did not know? At least following this interesting man would be, well, interesting.

---

Just when the contradictions began to subside, driven by inequality in wealth, new contradictions arose. More people died, and more people were slaughtered. The lands of Greece and Turkey both turned red as if creating fertile ground for something to be born, and Lord help Europe, because something was really born. An ideology that took the blood of humans as a sacrifice was born.

An ideology of power being in the hands of the peasants was born. An ideology that gave a butcher knife to the farmer, to the labourer, to the slave, to the deprived, to the oppressed, and to the peasant was born. Communism finally began to sprout in this fertile land drenched in blood and destruction.

Soon, right before the confused eyes of all the Europeans, political parties started in all major cities in Greece, and interestingly enough, all the parties talked about equality for all, giving the maximum amount of power to the common man and making sure that everyone was fed.

These promises looked too tempting for the people. More people signed up for the parties, and as more people joined, parties in various neighbouring cities began to link up. Two parties became one, and in such a way, like nuclear fusion, a political system slowly took shape in various regions of Greece, and one by one, they started to declare themselves as republics.

The Republic of Peloponnese, Republic of Epirus & Thessaly, Republic of Crete and the islands, Republic of Thrace, Republic of Anatolia, and Republic of Syria.

After all these republics were formed, it did not end there. These republics linked up together and decided to form a union.

And after this decision was made, it was brought to the military commander of the Bharatiya Empire.

Piyush Rudrakarna looked at the six leaders of the six republics and nodded in understanding.

"Bharatiya Empire can recognise your union. Bharatiya Empire will respect your territorial, democratic, and economic sovereignty, so please form your governing body and send a diplomatic team to discuss the matter of transferring the strongholds."

All six people, all Greek, looked at each other with great joy.

P.S. I had my graduation today, for everyone congratulating in the comments, thank you in advance.
