Reborn as the Villain in a Romance Fantasy

Leader John had shaper instincts, and they told him that he would be in danger if he angered the person he had escorted here. That was why he interfered and decided to welcome him as soon as his guards tried to intimidate that man.

He felt scared and in awe seeing this kid, as he had when he first saw the people of Duke Lockhart's estate. His body felt shivers, and he tried not to show any emotion on his face.

But there were times when his body and face betrayed him, and he felt like this was one of those times.

"I was told that you called for me. How may I help you out?"

The person who bowed in front of John asked, and that powerful voice made John flinch even deeper.

He felt he was supposed to reply to that question, but his lips wouldn't move to speak what he wanted to.

Ultimately, the man did not need to speak up because someone else took over for him.

Lord Adam had been looking outside until now, but as soon as he noticed the person he had called for had arrived, he changed his target from the outside to this warrior.

"Welcome here, brave warrior. I am the one who called for you here. I have a proposition for you. I want you to give up on this competition and come work under us. I am sure I could cut you a more profitable deal than whatever you are fighting to achieve."

Lord Adam promised, and the bad feeling Leader John had increased two-fold. He somehow had a feeling that the only one who was about to be screwed over here was him.

"L-Lord Adam, let's not go overboard here. I am offering a huge price for this tournament. If you try to match it, then…"

Leader John felt sweat flow down his face as soon as he thought of what was being said. He was sure that this was a nightmare with no way out.

But Adam did not notice any of his reaction as the male scoffed at her.

"Tsk, there is no need to overreact. You might have put up a great reward, but it is nothing I cannot match. Don't forget why and how you achieved your current success. If you know what is good for you, then don't interfere."

Adam replied in a calm voice, but it was clear that he was beginning to lose his patience with this man.

The more Adam spoke, the harder this leader flinched until he was bullied into submission and sat down with a sad but annoyed look.

Layla was less concerned about them and more about Rosette, who had not spoken until now. She had noticed the female as soon as she entered the room, and Luna had almost lunged at the girl, openly displaying her bloodlust.

"L-Lord Adam, but I-"

John tried to speak up, but his tongue felt tired. He knew he needed to speak something, but before he could do it, there was a loud gasp, and everyone yelled out in amazement and horror.

It also drove the people inside that balcony to look out to see what happened.

Inside the arena stood a man with double swords who had slashed his opponent. The blow's force was lethal, killing the opponent outright.

But that was not why people were gasping in horror and trying to make a fuss. The reason behind it was the action, not the result.

That man had used a cross-chop motion to kill his opponent, and as a result, it left a cross across the dead person's chest, causing them to bleed to death.

It was one of the most crude ways to kill someone, and the person who did this seemed to show no remorse on his face. If anything, the slight smile on that twisted face showed that this man enjoyed this killing.

That charred face and body had a lot of scars, but that one motion brought back so many memories for this town's people.

And the one who was most shaken by this was Lord John himself.

"I-It cannot be! That motif, that dual-blade technique…it can only be Ronaldo Smith, the dual-sword killer. But that man is dead-! He was killed a long time ago. There should be no reason for this to occur-!"

The man yelled in surprise and annoyance, his voice increasing in fear and amazement.

Leader John looked stunned and for good reasons.

Beside him, Rosette, who had not stopped looking at Layla all this time, finally tore her eyes away from her and looked down at the arena with an interested look on her face, but she quickly lost interest in that person.

"Are you talking about that mass-murdered Ronaldo Smith that Mary killed off? I was sure that he was reported deceased once Mary was done with him. Did a necromancer revive him? Or, it could be an imposter as well."

Adam pointed out with a bored voice. He had looked at that man who tried to strike fear into everyone, but he could not say he was impressed.

He had seen much better.

His sharp senses told him that even the fighter they had called for was much more dangerous than the dual-sword-wielding fool standing in the arena and trying to fool everyone.

But Leader John looked shaken, and so did the arena as well.

"Well, I have an offer for you, young man. How about you go down there and take care of that guy for us? I will return, take you back as my special guard, and promote you as soon as possible. I can even make you the leader of this city if you want to.

It is up to you to decide what to do, so choose what you want to do now."

Everyone looked stunned at Adam for offering something like this. It felt like an offer too good to be true. But Layla was not going to look a gifted horse in the mouth.
