Reborn As An Extra In My Own Novel

Chapter 108: Since This Isn't Reality [1]

"So what did you say you wanted to do?" Reni asked, visibly curious.

The car that had dropped them off had long since departed, and the two of them were walking side by side toward their classes.

Everyone around turned their heads to stare, as though witnessing divine beings or supermodels—something too surreal to ignore.

"Darling..." Reni called out, prompting Kai to turn his gaze. "Would you mind holding my hand?"

Kai wanted to retort, but the sight of the many couples holding hands around them, paired with the admiring glances from countless girls, instantly reminded him that Reni was, without question, a yandere.

He smiled, then grasped her hand firmly. "Your hands are soft."

She smiled back. "Do you prefer them hard? I make them like that if you asked me."

Kai shook his head. "I was just making an observation."

"So what's the crazy thing you wanted us to do?"

"Nothing..."

She stared at him with skeptical eyes, then smiled. "Was that just an excuse to get closer to me?"

"Huh?"

She leaned into him, resting her body lightly against his. "Did you miss my scent?"

Kai's face flushed red. Just like before, he found himself unable to speak properly, even in public.

"Yes..." he struggled to admit.

"Is that why you made up an excuse? Or... do you not actually love me?"

Kai swallowed hard. "I do love you. And it wasn't an excuse—I was just, well..."

Reni frowned, then withdrew her hand from his. "You can go to class alone."

Kai stood still for a moment, then ran ahead and gently grabbed her hand.

She turned to him, her face devoid of a smile. "What do you want, Kaiser Vanguard?"

"Uhmm..." Kai's face turned an even deeper shade of red. "I wanted to ask if I can hold your hand again."

She glided forward, eliminating the space between them. "You want to hold my hand?"

Kai glanced around nervously. "My lady, people are staring at us..."

She smiled. "So you don't want me to hold your hand?"

"Well..."

"Answer me, or I'll leave."

Kai, no longer caring who was watching, replied clearly, "I want to hold your hand."

Reni leaned closer to his neck. "So, what did you have planned for today? You'll tell me, right?"

Kai's mind began to fog; he could no longer recognize his surroundings.

'What's going on with me?'

Yet as if on remote control, he answered, "My lady, I..."

"Speak clearly."

He stammered, a bead of sweat running down his temple as his vision blurred. "My lady, I was..."

But before he could finish, a loud voice echoed from the front of the school building.

One of their teachers shouted for the students to head inside before classes began.

Kai took a shallow breath as Reni stepped away, then tilted her head. "Why are you sweating, Darling?"

Kai's mind remained hazy, but he forced out, "Nothing."

She gently took his arm and guided him forward. "Let's go to class. Today's going to be fun, right?"

Kai nodded. He didn't need to be fully conscious to know that, once again, he was being led.

He rubbed his temple, his face flushed. 'How am I supposed to make her fall for me when she's the one who's...'

He shook the thought away. This wasn't the time.

-----

After that, classes went by smoothly, and soon it was break time. Kai, who had been biding his time for revenge, pulled out a lunch box he had packed for Reni and moved his chair to sit opposite hers.

Reni's eyes widened as he covered the books she had been reading and placed them on the vacant chair nearby.

"What's the meaning of—"

Her words were cut off by Kai's genuine smile. He had already opened the lunch box, which contained food unfamiliar to her. 'If none of this is real,' he thought, 'and none of this people are real, then why don't I just be true to my feelings.'

He held his chopsticks confidently. "You know, I've never made you Korean food before."

Reni frowned. 'What's wrong with him?'

He raised the chopsticks filled with food. "Say ah!"

The princess turned her head. "I'm not doing that."

Kai smiled softly. "I'll burn all your documents if you don't eat this. And I'll ignore you for a week."

She remained unmoved. "Go ahead."

Kai stood from his chair, but before he could leave, he heard an unexpected sound.

"Ah!"

Slowly turning back, he saw Reni, her cheeks flushed red, mouth open wide.

He returned to his seat and gently brought the chopsticks to her lips.

After a few bites, she murmured, "It's good."

Kai leaned his head on his palm. "Just good?"

'What's wrong with him?' she thought, turning away. 'And why does he suddenly look so cute?'

He leaned in closer and, loud enough for the whole class to hear, said, "Babe, want seconds?"

Reni, already struggling to hold her composure, completely broke at that one word.

As if he had choreographed the moment, Kai slowly reached toward her lips, giving her time to react, then wiped off a grain of rice and popped it into his mouth.

"How would the company see you if you're this messy?" he sighed, then dropped to one knee. "Even look here..." He brushed a piece of rice off her skirt. "You've got food all over it."

Before he could do more, Reni slammed the desk and bolted from the classroom, lowering her face.

Kai sat back down and began hearing the class chatter.

"They're such a cute couple."

"I wish Kai was my boyfriend."

Blushing, Kai whispered to himself, "So that's how they do it, huh?"

He scooped another bite of food, then turned to the door just as Reni returned.

"You're back."

She replied with a neutral expression. "Yes."

Just like the morning, the second half of the day passed quickly, and classes resumed.

But this time, Kai was ready to begin his "Crazy Plan."

-----

"So, as I was saying, if M equals..." The math teacher continued teaching practical applications of math in relation to awakening.

But Kai wasn't listening.

His gaze remained fixed on Reni.

The teacher gradually grew irritated. At first, he ignored it, but a few minutes in, he snapped and hurled a piece of chalk at Kai, which Kai easily dodged.

The math teacher gritted his teeth. "Why aren't you paying attention? Do you want to get expelled? Is whatever you're staring at more important than your future?"

The entire class turned to Kai, waiting.

Without hesitation, Kai smiled and replied, "Yes, sir."

"What?" The teacher's eyes widened, stunned.

Kai stood from his seat and moved it opposite Reni's. "I missed your face."

Reni locked eyes with him. "Focus on class."

Kai shook his head like a petulant child. "Kiss me, then I'll stop."

Her eyes widened. The class gasped. Even Kai didn't fully understand what had come over him.

'None of this is real,' he reminded himself, 'so why not enjoy it to the end?'

"You're a madman."

Kai smiled. "I know."

She set her pen down and leaned forward. "Is this the crazy thing you were talking about?" she asked, pulling his chin closer.

He nodded, his eyes a bit hazy. "Yes."

Reni could feel a subtle heat stir within her. "So what now?"

Kai thought for a moment, then winked. "Let's pull off the craziest school stunt."

Reni tilted her head. "Craziest?"

Kai stood, then marched over to the teacher, draped his arm around the man's shoulders, and shouted, "Classes are over—go have fun!"

The class was silent for a moment, then erupted in cheers and laughter.

Voices rang out:

"Lover boy!"

"King of Hearts!"

Kai winked at the teacher and bowed slightly. "Thank you for your time, Teach."

If this were Earth, he'd be expelled and homeless by tomorrow.

But this wasn't Earth.

This was a dream realm.

He ran over to Reni and took her hand. "May I be so bold as to ask my lady to run away with me?"

Reni chuckled softly, her smile tender and affectionate. "Why not?"

As the class exploded in cheers, the teacher's voice finally pierced the madness.

"CHA JIN-SUNG! GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW!" he roared, slamming his ruler on the desk. "DO YOU THINK THIS IS A CIRCUS!?"

Kai turned dramatically, his eyes sparkling. "No, sir. This is officially my love story."

He sprinted to the window, flung it open with flair, and extended his hand to Reni. "Shall we?"

Reni, bemused and amused, raised a brow. "Are you seriously jumping?"

Kai didn't say a word. He just smiled.

She shook her head, smiling. "You're impossible."

Without waiting another second, Kai swept her up bridal-style and leapt.

Gasps rang through the classroom as the wind howled past them, Reni's silver hair flowing like a ribbon in the sky. They landed on the grass with a soft thud, clumsy, a bit crooked, but laughing all the same.

Kai took her hand, and they started running.

Behind them, the teacher's voice thundered from the second floor. "GET BACK HERE YOUNG MAN! YOU'RE DEAD IF I CATCH YOU! D-E-A-D!"

Just then, from another building, Hari stepped out with a juice box in her hand. She stared blankly.

"...Where the hell do you think you're going?"

Kai grinned mid-sprint. "Honeymoon!"

Hari's jaw dropped. "It's not even last period yet!"

As they kept running, Reni, barely managing to keep pace in her heels, murmured, "Honeymoons come after marriage, darling."

Kai paused mid-step, blinking. "Oh... right. I forgot."

They both burst into laughter, breathless and wild with joy.

"So what's your plan?" Reni asked between gasps.

"Plan?" Kai tilted his head, still laughing. "I have no idea what I'm even doing."

Reni exhaled hard, shaking her head. "Seriously..."

Kai squeezed her hand tighter. "But I know one thing, though. As long as I'm with you, it's gonna be one hell of a ride."

"You have such a sweet tongue."
