Chapter 228: Chapter 228: Car Chase

Hobbs, along with Mike and Elena, waited patiently like a seasoned hunter for Hernan to show a flaw. They kept their car driving parallel to Hernan's current position on another road, listening to Mia's real-time updates on Hernan's location through the radio. They were prepared to launch their final strike on Hernan-Reyes once Dominic completed his plan and used the heavy truck on the cross-sea bridge to block the police chasing him.

The weapons that Castle prepared for Dominic's crew were now largely loaded on the Knight XV that Hobbs was driving. When Dominic handed these military weapons over to Hobbs, who needed them more, Hobbs was genuinely shocked. He hadn't expected Dominic to acquire such a large batch of arms in Brazil. He felt fortunate that Dominic didn't use these weapons to resist when he raided their hideout that morning; otherwise, his team would have been annihilated by Dominic's crew, who had comparable firepower.

This incident made Hobbs realize that someone powerful and capable was supporting Dominic's group. Unfortunately, because his alliance with Dominic was fragile and based on pressure, he knew it would collapse soon. He would then resume his pursuit of Dominic's crew. Dominic and his team had been cautious, not revealing any clues about their backer during their brief alliance.

This realization made Hobbs feel that his next pursuit of Dominic might not be as smooth as before.

However, today, either he or Hernan-Reyes would live, and Hobbs was confident that it would be him due to his careful preparation. Hernan's attention was entirely on Dominic, who was dragging his laundered money across the city. Hernan had no idea that Hobbs was waiting to deliver a fatal blow, so in Hobbs' eyes, Hernan was as good as dead.

After dealing with Hernan, the pursuit of Dominic's crew would be back on the agenda. But Hobbs had lost some confidence, seeing how Dominic's crew, even in unfamiliar Brazil, managed to play Hernan like a fool with the help of a hidden hacker. Hobbs realized that his upcoming pursuit might be more challenging than ever.

Mia's voice over the radio pulled Hobbs back to the task at hand: "Hobbs, Hernan is in a matte black Volkswagen Touareg driven by his confidant Mario. They are heading towards the cross-sea bridge, parallel to you. Be warned, the car has a mini six-barrel Gatling gun, so be prepared for counterattacks during the assault!"

Mia's information made Hobbs more wary of the hacker supporting Dominic's crew. How much did this hacker know about his side's plans?

Suppressing his chaotic thoughts, Hobbs focused on the current task. He glanced at Mike, who was seriously driving, and Elena, who looked tense in the back seat, and loudly encouraged his only two subordinates: "Don't worry, our car can withstand RPGs, so Hernan-Reyes is as good as dead today unless God himself intervenes to save him!"

Ahead, Dominic, driving the heavy truck, had no time to worry about Hobbs' speculations. With only two intersections left, just over a kilometer away, he would soon meet Brian and the four police cars. This crucial step determined whether they could successfully leave Brazil with a hefty sum. For the first time, Dominic felt serious. The safe in his truck had at least a hundred million dollars, the biggest haul of his career, so he had to succeed.

The distance closed quickly with the speed of Dominic's modified heavy truck. Despite the two intersections, Dominic's crew had hacked the Rio de Janeiro traffic system, giving Mia control over the traffic lights. With a 'green channel,' Dominic sped through to the meeting point.

Seeing Brian and the other police cars behind him in the rearview mirror, Dominic finally relaxed. As long as they followed the plan, Brian and his team would give him at least fifteen seconds to disappear from the pursuing police's sight. This blind spot was critical for their plan.

Once he and Giselle swapped trucks, with him leading the empty safe and Giselle taking the money-filled one under Brian's cover, their heist would be nearly complete. Hobbs would get his chance to take down Hernan on the bridge, provided Hobbs seized the opportunity.

The pursuing police, unaware of the four undercover cars, continued to chase Dominic. Hernan had increased the bounty for capturing Dominic, making the police more determined. They didn't understand how Dominic's heavy truck could be so fast, but they were relentless in their pursuit, driven by both duty and reward. Despite several roadblocks, Dominic evaded them all, and the police didn't give up.

With five kilometers left to the swap point with Giselle, Dominic finally ordered Brian, Roman, and the others to disrupt the chasing police.

Roman, eagerly waiting, cheered and was the first to act. He swerved his police car into another, sending it crashing into a tree. Brian, Han, and Vanessa followed suit, causing chaos among the police cars. Their genuine police cars and superior driving skills caught the pursuers off guard, halving their numbers.

These scenes were broadcasted back to the hotel by Castle's modified drones, entertaining him and the hacker kid.

Castle commented, "The Rio police won't catch Dominic, and the compensation will give them a headache."

The hacker kid, munching on chips, agreed, "Yeah, and if Hernan doesn't survive today, the Rio police are in for a rough time!"
