Rebirth Of The Bastard Spirit Summoner

Chapter 56: [56] Spit It Out!

When Stark returned to the real world, to his surprise, it was already morning. Not only did he not sleep, his body was also aching from his workout.

Thankfully, he could now move.

As Jade materialized on the bed, Stark summoned Chubby and smiled as he watched the little spirit.

He had done it…

His first-ever ascended spirit was right in front of him, lying on his bed.

And yet, Stark had another thing in mind. "Spit it out! My net worth, spit it out right now!"

The little guy made an alarmed shriek and was about to fly when Stark dove at him, but he missed…

Instead, he accidentally fell atop Jade, his hand pushed against something soft, the worst possible place—

Stark's eyes widened in shock.

"Ouch, what happened to your faces?" Diane asked, glancing at both Stark and Chubby, who had a throbbing hand mark on their faces.

"Let's not talk about it…" Stark sighed. "When is that dude coming?"

She glanced at the clock and frowned. "He was supposed to be here already. I don't know what is keeping him…"

They were back in the adventurer's guild to meet with the mysterious crusader with an intense fixation on their monster.

In front of Stark were his weapons—the sword and the dagger.

All it took was one slap from Jade to burp it out; sadly, his slap came even before the little guy's slap.

As they patiently waited for the man, the guild door swung open and a tall man stepped in, scanning the area with a stern gaze.

Immediately Stark saw him, he realized who he was. It was the same elf he had met at the blacksmith the day before…

'What is he doing here?'

"Oh, it looks like he has arrived. Professor, over here!" Diane called out to him, and the man glanced in her direction, adjusted his glasses, and then began walking.

By his side were two students draped in the academy's prestigious uniform. The first was a girl who seemed to radiate warmth just from the way she carried herself.

She had a calm smile on her face as she looked around, and her golden hair bounced around with each step she took.

As for the other…

He was the oddest of the pair. Although he wore the same academy uniform, his clothing seemed darker by virtue of him wearing it.

Each step he made seemed to rattle the shadows, and his eyes were wrapped up in a blindfold, yet he walked gracefully, never missing a step.

The group of three walked right to their table and greeted Diane before their eyes settled on them.

"Are these the adventurers you recommended?" the elf asked.

"Yes, they have been working on the quest for some time now, so they know the area well."

The man nodded.

"I am Kael D'Armorpheus, Crusader and staff member at Codex Fortuna Imperial College."

He glanced at the students, and they introduced themselves as well.

"I am Jasmine Forteller. We seem about the same age, so I hope we get along," she said with a smile.

"E-Eurus…" the boy in the blindfold said before looking to the side as though he was confessing his feelings to a girl.

'Is he for real?'

He looked like the scariest person his age Stark had ever seen, yet their impression of him fell the moment he opened his mouth.

Jasmine nudged him with her elbow. "Come on, Kura…" she said, her voice a whisper.

"E-Eurus! E-Eurus Astor!"

The professor sighed and adjusted his glasses. Then his eyes narrowed slightly as he observed Stark.

"Have we met somewhere?"

"No, never, of course not," Stark said, picking up his cup to take a long sip.

"Alright then…" he replied, pulling out a scroll from his coat.

"I guess I'll leave you guys to discuss. I have work to do," said Diane as she turned to leave.

Kael nodded curtly. "Thank you for your help. I'll be sure that you are properly compensated."

She smiled as she left, leaving them to themselves.

As the three of them took their seats, Jasmine's eyes widened as she noticed Chubby for the first time.

She reached for him, and the little guy tried to escape, but she was too fast. She latched onto him and pulled him to her chest.

"What sort of beast is this? It's so cute! Don't tell me… are you a tamer too?"

"That is no beast," Kael interjected as he stared at the monster closely. "A spirit? No, not just any spirit, a nature-born spirit."

He paused for a few seconds, then stole a glance at Jade. It was subtle, far too short for anyone to notice or even make something out of it.

But Stark had seen him…

'This one is a problem.'

Not everyone had ever had contact with a spirit, so it was hard to recognize them.

Even everyone in the tavern simply assumed Chubby was some sort of slime…

But Kael… he had recognized what he was far too easily.

Thankfully, he didn't seem to know what Jade was. Even if he knew much about spirits, Jade was a one in a million possibility—even she would fail to recognize that she was a spirit.

"So, you are a tamer?" Stark asked Jasmine, who was now fiddling with Chubby's cheeks.

"Yes, but my beast is very grumpy. He hates people, so I can never show him off."

Her words only made Stark more curious.

"And you?" he asked, addressing Eurus.

The boy did not answer; he just kept staring into space as though there was something interesting no one else could see.

"Is he… is he asleep?"

Jasmine smiled nervously. "Don't mind him, Eurus is like a bat, he's mostly awake at night, so he naps whenever he can."

Kael then spread the scroll atop the table. It was a large drawing of the monster they were after, but highly detailed and with a few other nuances that made Stark raise a brow.

"Pay attention. I'm going to explain in a way that even a half-elf like you can understand," he said with a smile.

At his words, a tense silence engulfed their table. Even as the other adventurers chatted amongst themselves, it was as though they were in their little bubble of silence.

As Stark and Kael stared each other down, Jade's expression sharpened, her eyes holding a silent warning—a threat…

But as for Jasmine, she was completely confused. "…Half-elf?"
