Chapter 60: Headless Ragnarok Beast
It was mostly known for its appearance as a headless horseman.
A harbinger of death riding a headless black horse.
The one who would take the soul of those who would be ready for death.
The legendary ghost known as Dullahan.
Yet different from its famous appearance, the Headless Ragnarok Beast doesn't have a definite form.
Rather than a beast, it is more like a ghost. A black mist moving from one dead Ragnarok Beast to another and possessing their lifeless body as its own.
Its strength would lie in the rank of the Ragnarok Beast that it would possess.
Its power would scale with the number of lifeless bodies it would take control of.
And as to how it got its codename, it is because all the lifeless bodies of the Ragnarok Beasts it would possess will rip off their heads to hide which one of them is in control.
That is the Unique Rank C Ragnarok Beast Dullahan.

...STAB!...
"Argh!..."
What is supposed to be the lifeless body of a 3-meter class Rank D Ragnarok Beast Werewolf starts moving again.
Its body is covered in deep wounds, and it's even missing its head, left arm, and left leg. It shouldn't even be able to stand with its missing left leg. That's why Corgi lowers her guard down and turns her back to the Werewolf corpse. Yet its right arm suddenly moves, stabbing Corgi in the back with its claws.
As its claws pierce Corgi's torso, the supposed-to-be dead Rank D Werewolf gets back on its foot in a very unusual manner. It's like a puppet being controlled by invisible strings.
...CORGI!!!...
Shiba and SilverPup immediately move to save Corgi.
SilverPup cut the right arm of the dead Rank D Werewolf, and Shiba caught Corgi as she fell after getting released from the claws piercing her body.
"Shiba, take Corgi back inside the Rock Castle and make her log out before her avatar dies."
It's not like the real-life person behind Corgi is in danger. The worst that person would experience is pain similar to getting stabbed in real life. In addition, Corgi won't be able to log in until the next night once she logs out of RAIDS ONLINE.
However, since the avatar of the players in RAIDS ONLINE won't disappear and remains in the state it had died, SilverPup couldn't bear the sight of the dead body of her friend lying down on the battlefield.
"SilverPup-senpai... I'm sorry..."
Even though half of her torso has been pierced by the claws of the dead Rank D Werewolf, Corgi was able to endure the pain and remain conscious.
"Leave the rest to us, Corgi. We'll see you in another night."
"Let's go, Corgi."
Shiba carries her friend and follows SilverPup's instructions.
After getting inside the Rock Castle, a ray of moonlight came down, beaming up Corgi back to the Moon Base before Shiba went back outside into the battlefield.

"BlueB*! You're not sleeping there are you?!"
"Of course, I'm not!"
In regards to SilverPup and BlueHeroine's remarks, BlueHeroine was supposed to act as a lookout, searching and waiting for the Unique Rank C Ragnarok Beast Dullahan to make an appearance.
"But there's nothing that came by during the fight. Not a Headless Ragnarok Beast or a black mist."
"So it's been among the swarm right from the start?"
Among the abilities of the Unique Rank C Ragnarok Beast Dullahan is to parasite inside the body of a living Ragnarok Beast, waiting for its death before possessing its lifeless body and ripping off its head to take full control.
But still, BlueHeroine should have seen any suspicious Ragnarok Beast ripping off its head during or after the fight. After all, she keeps a close eye on the battlefield while hovering in the night sky. However...
"Who the faq cut their opponent's head?! Didn't we discuss this earlier? I said no decapitating your opponent because we're looking for a faqing Dullahan!"
Since the Guardian Beast's reinforcement is all Devour Beast Orion Class players, the easiest way for them to finish off their opponent is to activate their Orion's Fangs Skill, summon the large silver light wolf head aura, and bite off the head of any Ragnarok Beasts. That's even true for Luel and SilverPup.
While SilverPup is shouting her frustration about the failure of their battle strategy that she personally crafted, a black mist starts to spread from all Headless Ragnarok Beasts scattered around the battlefield.
"Hey, SilverPup... Why you and BlueHeroine didn't tell me that RAIDS ONLINE is also a horror game?"
In front of Luel are less than a hundred dead Ragnarok Beasts. Their body has been torn apart in every possible way. Some are missing their heads, arms, and legs and even cut in half on their torso.
But as the black mist engulfs all the torn-apart body pieces lying around on the battlefield, all the disconnected body parts start to assemble together.
"Well, this is the part which is the scariest. So don't close your eyes, Lucent."
"Isn't that contradictory?"
When all dead Ragnarok Beasts get back on their feet like a bunch of puppets, the scariest part the SilverPup is talking about begins.
Most of the dead Ragnarok Beasts with their head still attached, rip it off with their own arms or claws.
.
.
.
"Charge x Howl - Moonlight!"
Since Luel is the one with the highest Link Force among all the Devour Beast Orion players, he took the role of casting his Moonlight Skill to heal everyone's injuries and boost the status of their avatar.
"Everyone, fight in a group and look out for each other!"
At SilverPup's command, everyone takes their stance.
They had defeated and devoured this swarm of Ragnarok Beasts just a moment ago, and they could do it again. Or so everyone else though, even Luel.
However, BlueHeroine and SilverPup, who know the real strength of the Unique Rank C Ragnarok Beast Dullahan, can't completely say that they have a 100 percent chance of winning.
After all, this time, their opponent isn't just less than a hundred Ragnarok Beasts fighting on their own. All the dead Rank D and Rank C Ragnarok Beasts are now fighting under one command and working together, unlike before.
To make it worse, even how much they cut their opponent's body with their claws, even how many times they tear it apart with their fangs, the Dullahan will just assemble all the deed torn apart bodies using its black mist over and over again until it has the strength to do so.
But it's not like the Guardian Beast team wasn't ready for that.
If cutting and tearing apart their opponent's body won't work, then they just have to disintegrate them until nothing is left.
"BlueB*!... Now!"
"But what about you, Lucent, and everyone else?"
"When did the faq you start caring about causing collateral damage, B*?!"
"Faq off, PoodlePup!"
"We will find some way to protect ourselves. So do what you have to do, BlueHeroine."
"Fine! Then I won't hold back!"
"Hey... Isn't that basically the same as what I said, Lucent? Why BlueB* didn't get mad at you?"
"How the heck is that the same thing?"
