Protoganist's Sidekick Fights Back

Bai Yunxi waited entire day for Su Kang but he did not appear. It is evening now and she is restless. She is blaming herself for his such abnormal behaviour.

She was sitting in the bamboo hut and talking with children. Then she heard a knock on door and opened to see Su Kang standing there with a smile.

Bai yunxi was relieved to see him come back. She invited him in and asked in a little angry tone.

" Where did you go without telling me anything ?"

" I went to retrieve something. It was quite far from here."

He took out something wrapped in white clothes.

" What is this?" She frowned.

" Your father's remains. Only this small bone has survived." He said.

Bai yunxi body shook for a moment. She did not doubted him. Her eyes became wet and she went outside to inform her mother.

Soon their mother and daughter duo came back and Su Kang handed bone remains to them.

The old woman took her husband's remains and sobbed in low voice. Su Kang went outside with the children and left the mother-daugher duo alone for sometime.

Children looked at him curiously before they could say anything soon old man He took them away hurriedly. The old man is afraid that Su Kang might be offended by these children.

A few minutes later Bai yunxi called him back. She sat next to her mother and Su Kang in front seat of them.

" Young master Su, I have heard everything from my daughter. You can call me madam An. I'm truly grateful to you."

Madam An bowed her head, then Bai yunxi served him tea.

" Madam An, you don't have to show such politeness to me. You can just call me, Su Kang." He bowed as well.

Su Kang can't let madam An feel uncomfortable with his status. He has to show his good sides.

Su Kang started chatting with her, asking about her experience and occasionally glancing at Bai yunxi.

Madam An left after chatting and asked Bai yunxi to served him some snacks.

Bai yunxi nodded. After her mother left, she looked at Su Kang deeply before bowing her head.

" I'm truly grateful to you. You reunited me with my mother and even found my father's remains. I will never forget this favour of yours." She said.

" You don't have to bow your head. Just answer my question this time to repay this favour."

Bai yunxi nodded her head and gestured him to ask.

" Are you feeling light in your heart, do you feel your burdens have disappeared to some extent?"

She was taken aback by his question but she answered him.

" Yes, my heart feels a lot better now." She giggled lightly and replied.

Su Kang is surprised to see her like this. He didn't expected this sudden change in her behaviour.

" My efforts were not wasted." He thought in his heart.

Su Kang didn't ask anything else and quietly finished the snacks.

" I'm going to visit the city. Do you want to go with me ?" He asked.

"Okay, I will go with you." She agreed and went to inform her mother before leaving.

Su Kang and Bai yunxi left together, Bai yunxi was flying with help of Su Kang's qi. This was first she experienced flying in the open sky.

She saw orange sun slowly sinking into horizon. She was first time witnessing such a beautiful sun set. Orange red sky and beneath her is, hills where green vegetation is covering rocky yellow surface.

" Beautiful" Bai yunxi suddenly heard this from beside her.

She turned to look at Su kang who was looking at her with mesmerized look on his face. Her white robe, long black hair, beautiful face with simple ornaments has a different charm in orange red sky.

Bai yunxi is feeling embarassed and shy but did not said anything to Su Kang. She let him stare at her.

He kept admiring her and understood her intention. They didn't say anything else.

Soon they reached the city. Bai yunxi decided to buy some gifts for children and uncle He. Soon they will be leaving so she wanted to express her gratitude for taking care of her mother.

She bought some stuffs and Su Kang suggested looking for craftsman shop to look for artificial legs for her mother. Spiritually crafted tools can be much better than her current wooden legs.

Bai yunxi agreed with him. They looked around the market and found a shop which can make it. It will take them two days to made it.

It was already dark outside. They spend around one hour in the city. The moon was shining in the sky and stars were shining with white-blue lights. They are leaving the city.

" Bai Yunxi" Su Kang stopped in the mid air. He don't know if he can talk to her in the village so he decided to talk here. No one is around them and location is good as well.

Hearing Su Kang directly calling her in such way and situation, she understood his intention. Her heart started beating fast and she became nervous in this situation.

He landed with her in an empty place. There were less trees around them. Moonlight was illuminating the surrounding trees and rocks around them. They can see each other faces clearly.

He looked at her face and started speaking.

" At first it was just normal admiration towards you, but slowly when I started looking at you more, you became more to my liking."

" I want to make you happy. I want to occasionally enjoy mundane life with you, I want to show you many beautiful places, I want you to let your shackles go and fullfill your wishes."

" I don't want to see you suppressing your heart anymore. You don't have to sacrifice anymore now. Everything is fine now. You can let your heart relax now."

" Li Fang is fine and nothing will happen to him. There is no need to carry any burden anymore."

He doesn't has any experience in confessions or proposals. He believes that sincerity will reach her heart so he has spoken his heart out to her.

Bai Yunxi was looking at him when he uttered those words. Her heart is beating fast and her face is rosy pink now. Her thoughts are jumbled. It took her a few moments before she started to calm down.

She put her thoughts together but her heart is still beating fast. She knows that she can't avoid this situation for a long time. She has already thoughts about her answer before this.

" I have thought about this before. But I was troubled by my situation."

" After meeting my mother, I realised that you will do everything in power to make me happy. "

" You helped my son as his friend and you did everything that a father figure was supposed to do for him."

" You did all this for me. I can't ever return this favour of yours."

" I don't know how you found my mother and even my father's remains but even this favour of yours is something I can't repay in this life."

" I don't know what good karma I did , to receive such a blessing."

" But I'm afraid I will bring disaster to you." Her voice started to crack.

She does not want to speak about these things in the first place but now she is feeling emotional. Her vulnerable thoughts are appearing in front of him.

" I don't know other things but you can't bring disaster to me." He said with confidence.

" People with my cultivation can perceive luck and disaster to some extent, you are good luck charm for me." He said to reassure her.

" My cultivation is low unlike like you I will grow old sooner. I will not be young and beautiful."

He was standing five-six steps away from her. He is taking a step forward as he is answering her insecurities.
