Chapter 295: The Third Party Who Ruined the Sweetness (3)_1
Adele Horne didn't like her; Julia had known this even before the marriage. After the wedding, Adele had repeatedly provoked her verbally. Once, when Adele had been sick and Julia was caring for her, Adele had still managed to twist Julia's concern into something malicious. Unexpectedly, tonight, while Julia was enjoying a sweet moment with Glades Horne, Adele brazenly barged in, clearly intending to cause trouble.
"My brother designed it all for you. I really don't know what's so great about you that has my brother head over heels. Julia Bluen, did you learn witchcraft from demons to make my brother so devoted to you Bluen sisters? Unable to marry the elder sister, he married the younger one instead, and now he spoils you to the heavens, even placing you above me, his only sister. Why don't you teach me how to bewitch a man's heart too? I also want to marry a man as good as my brother."
When Adele Horne saw that her intrusion hadn't drawn anyone out of the house, she assumed Julia was alone and became even more unbridled.
"What's good about me, your brother knows; there's no need for you to understand," Julia Bluen countered coldly, genuinely unwilling to waste more words on such a sister-in-law. In Adele's heart, Orlando Evans was the only suitable candidate for her sister-in-law. Since Julia had married Glades Horne, the man Orlando had pursued for years, Adele naturally detested her.
"Julia Bluen, don't be arrogant! I won't let you have a moment's peace. As for being my sister-in-law, besides Orlando Evans, I won't acknowledge anyone else. Even though you're my sister-in-law now, one day, I'll make my brother disappointed in you, make him lose all hope in you, and have you divorced from the Horne Family. Do you think it's so easy to be Mrs. Horne? If you can't get past me, don't even dream of handling the role... Brother?" Adele's arrogant words ceased when Glades Horne's tall figure appeared at the Main House doorway, a flash of fear quickly crossing her beautiful eyes.
So my elder brother was here! Damn Julia Bluen, why didn't she tell me? She must have wanted me to be presumptuous so our brother would reprimand me, right?
Julia Bluen, you vicious woman!
In her heart, Adele Horne cursed Julia Bluen relentlessly, as if Julia were the evil stepmother from the Snow White Princess.
Julia Bluen had clearly invited her in to see for herself, and Adele had accepted. However, upon seeing the Courtyard so beautifully decorated, exuding elegance and picturesque scenery at every turn, she became consumed with jealousy on behalf of her friend Orlando Evans. Impulsively, she destroyed the view before even stepping inside the house.
After her impulsive act, her BMW was scratched. Now she had another unreasonable excuse to insult Julia Bluen.
Who could have known...?
It seemed Orlando Evans's warning was right; I shouldn't have caused extra trouble. But I just had to, didn't I?
"Adele, since when did my wife need to pass your test to be fit for the role of Mrs. Horne?" Glades Horne approached step by step from the doorway toward the two women, his handsome face seemingly calm but actually harboring a tempest. His voice, though sounding like an inquiry, was in reality raging with anger.
He knew his sister's capabilities very well.
Without someone deliberately inciting her, Adele would absolutely not come here to cause such a scene.
Other than Orlando Evans—who had stripped naked and crawled into his bed several times only to be thrown out by him—who else could make his sister so compliant?
He couldn't believe that Orlando Evans, aside from being shameless and base, was also so sinister. She was unwilling to let him live peacefully even after his marriage. She had used his sister's trust and favorable opinion of her to trouble Julia Bluen. Orlando had even brazenly declared that without her consent, Julia Bluen shouldn't dream of being Mrs. Horne. Since when was it his sister's place to speak and make decisions for the family?
Orlando Evans!
A chilling ruthlessness swept through Glades Horne.
He had tolerated his sister repeatedly. After banning Orlando Evans from freely entering the Horne Family estate, he'd thought the role of "the other woman" would no longer appear in the world he shared with Julia Bluen. But now...
Very well, very well. He would make Orlando Evans taste the consequences of angering him!
"Brother, you're here! I came to see you. I... I accidentally crashed into the lawn and damaged a few streetlamps and trees, but my car is damaged too. Brother, I really didn't do it on purpose. Oh, Brother, what are you talking about? I don't understand. You know I'm such a klutz." Adele Horne chuckled, forcing a lighthearted tone to try and erase the arrogant and unreasonable words she had just spoken.
As Glades Horne advanced step by step, she backed away timidly, betraying her fear.
The calmer my older brother appears, the fiercer he'll be when he loses his temper.
Besides Julia Bluen, whom I dislike and refuse to acknowledge, there are no other family members here. What would I do if my big brother lost it and tried to strangle me?
It's all because of my impulsive nature.
As Adele Horne backed away in fear, she inwardly berated her own impulsiveness. She had created complications and angered her brother before her plan had even begun.
What should I do?
"Take one more step back, and I'll break your legs!"
Glades Horne coldly uttered the threat, immediately stopping Adele's retreat. Her beautiful face was now filled with fear as she timidly looked up at him.
Once Adele halted, Glades walked over to Julia Bluen. With utmost tenderness, he brought his handsome face close to hers, his voice gentle and apologetic as he spoke, "Julia, are you alright? Adele has been very rude. I'll teach her a proper lesson." After speaking, he drew Julia into his embrace, his voice low, as if intentionally speaking for Adele to overhear, "I've already said, you are my wife. No matter who it is, no matter their status, no one is allowed to hurt you in the slightest—not even with impolite words!"
"Glades, don't scare Adele. She's your sister," Julia Bluen said, quickly tugging at his sleeve. Recalling the lesson he had taught Floyd Thomas, she worried he might treat Adele the same way.
After all, she had just refuted Adele, infuriating her; Adele wouldn't gain any advantage here. She didn't want Glades to beat Adele to a pulp on her account, as that would surely make her mother-in-law dislike her even more.
"Even if she is my sister, she's not allowed to speak of you like that!" Glades Horne tightened his embrace, the force clearly conveying the depth of his anger.
Releasing her, he turned to face his sister, whose complexion had turned somewhat pale. His lips curled as he said coldly, "Adele, tell me, how should I punish you for your disrespect toward Julia? Should I beat you until you resemble a pig's head, or should I cut out your tongue?"
