Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law

Chapter 292: The Pen Business (4)_1

Anger tinged Julia Bluen's brow, and her small hand clenched into a fist. Her almond-shaped eyes glared at Nicholas Coldwell, as if she would throw a punch if he didn't step aside.

"Sister-in-law."

A deep voice called out, just in time to stop her impending outburst.

"Sister-in-law, what are you doing here?"

James Horne appeared behind Nicholas and, with a nudge of his elbow, sent Nicholas staggering aside; the force of the bump nearly made him fall. James then stood before Julia, his handsome face, so similar to Glades Horne's, held a stern, cold expression. His deep eyes were unfathomable but now glittered with a cold light. He exuded an intense chill, as if he had just stepped out of a refrigerator.

He had happened to pass by and inadvertently saw Nicholas blocking Julia's way, so he immediately came to intervene.

"I came here to meet a client. Your brother urged me to return home, so I had the Vice President stay behind to dine with the client while I headed home first. I didn't expect to encounter a dog blocking the way," Julia explained coolly. Her description of Nicholas as a 'dog blocking the way' deepened the pain in his heart.

For the sake of his future, he found himself in this situation today, but the future remained uncertain, and he felt that a single misstep could lead to eternal regret.

James turned, his icy, sharp gaze sweeping over Nicholas. Nicholas felt the look was so much like Glades's that a shiver ran down his spine. He didn't dare say anything. After a deep look at Julia, he quickly and awkwardly made his way inside.

After all, he was now a son-in-law of the Powell Family.

He didn't dare to cling to Julia excessively.

After Nicholas left, James glanced coolly at Julia and said indifferently, "Next time you have a meeting, don't go alone. If something happens, it will cause widespread chaos." With that, he turned and walked away.

Julia pouted. She had explained she left the Vice President with the client, indicating it wasn't a solo meeting, but he seemed not to have heard her.

James had always been icy towards her. Julia didn't follow him as he left; this brother-in-law and sister-in-law had their separate paths to walk, as they were never meant to be on the same road.

Only when Julia's car blended into the traffic did James's Audi, which had been waiting a short distance away, finally drive off.

「Darkness soon enveloped the entire land.」

The streets were a dazzling display of neon lights and bustling activity.

People walked in groups or alone, passing by in haste.

On both sides of the road stood tall buildings, each so tall you'd get a sore neck looking up at them. The ground floors of these buildings were mostly leased for businesses. The upper floors were rented out to small companies for offices or as residential apartments.

The sound of car horns was incessant, forming a unique urban nocturne.

Julia paid no attention to the street scenery. Her heart, like a bird, had already flown back to Glades Garden. She was eager to see Glades Horne.

She drove attentively; like a gust of wind, she swept through the bustling streets towards Glades Garden. As she drove onto the road that led only to Glades Garden, it was as if she had entered another world. Along the roadside, streetlights stood in silent rows, casting their glow and illuminating the way for passing vehicles and pedestrians. Though no one ever thanked them, they continued their silent, dedicated service.

Behind the streetlights were often green belts with evergreen trees that remained verdant even in winter, while many other plants lost their luster and stood bare. These green trees still thrived on the sides of the road, swaying in the winter wind, their leaves rustling softly. However, the surroundings were so tranquil that this soft melody didn't disturb the profound silence.

Driving along the road for a while, one could soon see the grand gate of Glades Garden, a symbol of affluence. It was a large, semicircular archway with a wide area in front. A median green belt divided the spacious main road, with one lane for entry and the other for exit. Both sides had security booths where garden security guards worked in 24-hour shifts, ensuring the safety within and preventing unauthorized entry. After all, those who lived here were either wealthy or influential.

Julia had grown up here; the security guards knew her car well. Seeing her vehicle from afar, none of the guards stopped her, allowing her to drive straight through.

Near the garden's entrance were various shops. Once inside, about two or three hundred meters along, there was a huge basketball court for exercise and play. Next to the court was fitness equipment, much of it designed for the elderly. Currently, some youths were playing basketball on the court, while parents and elderly residents sat nearby, exercising or watching the children. The small shops and stores nearby were doing brisk business.

Julia came and went daily and was long accustomed to these sights; her car whisked past them as usual.

A few minutes later, she reached the deepest part of the garden and parked her car in front of her home.

The streetlamp in front of her house had already lit up for her arrival, and the tall, openwork gate allowed her to clearly see everything in the Courtyard.

The beautiful Courtyard scenery, the elegant streetlamps—they intertwined to create a charming nighttime view.

Hearing the car, Glades Horne came out of the house.

He had already taken off his apron and suit. He was wearing a casual shirt and loosely fitting black trousers, exuding an effortless elegance and confidence. Only Glades Horne could wear clothes with such taste, his every glance full of spirit. She hadn't seen another man who could wear clothes with such flair.

He seemed born to be a clotheshorse, making any attire look its best on him. Sometimes, she thought it was a real waste that he wasn't a male Model.

With his striking looks and robust physique, if he were a Model, he would surely become a supermodel, captivating people all over the world.

He wore a gentle, warm smile. Though faint, the smile shone with a dazzling brilliance, like the rising sun shedding its myriad rays, blinding all who looked.
