Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law

Chapter 291: The Pen Business (3)_1

In the end, the price was settled. President Wang instructed her male secretary to take out the laptop he carried with him, and they immediately printed two copies of the order contract. Then, President Wang also took out the company seal she had brought with her from her bag, stamped it on the contract, and the contract became effective.

President Wang and Julia Bluen each held a copy of the contract, and their cooperation officially began.

After the negotiations were concluded, it was time for dinner. Naturally, Julia Bluen had to invite President Wang for a meal.

President Wang teased Julia with a smile, "President Bluen, I can stay for dinner. Just have President Lee accompany me; you should go home early. I'm afraid Young Master Horne has been waiting for a while." She had caught on to Julia's demeanor when she answered the phone earlier.

Julia blushed uncomfortably and laughed, "It's okay. It's our first collaboration; no matter what, I must accompany President Wang."

Just as she was speaking, Glades Horne's call came through again, and she had to answer once more.

"Julia, remember, you must come home for dinner." Glades Horne's deep voice, filled with an overbearing aura, came through the phone. He had already mentioned it once, sounding worried that Julia wouldn't come home to eat with him. Only a few minutes later, he called again, repeating the same words.

Julia laughed wryly. She wanted to tell Glades that she needed to accompany her guest for dinner, but when the words reached her lips, she actually responded, "Okay, I'm coming home right away."

After she replied, Glades hung up, satisfied. Only then did Julia come to her senses and, somewhat embarrassed, turned to face President Wang, who had an understanding look mixed with amusement and envy.

"President Bluen, it's better not to keep the young master waiting too long. Go on back. President Lee will keep me company; young people like their private time together, HAHA, we understand," said President Wang. She sounded like an elder sister, a complete change from her previously sharp and disdainful tone towards Julia.

"I'm really sorry," replied Julia, not wanting to stay any longer. The man at home was hurrying her. She guessed he was probably hungry and wanted her to come home quickly to cook for him. Thinking about the times they were busy together in the kitchen, her heart filled with happiness. She truly enjoyed that simple yet very happy companionship. Ever since Glades had tasted her cooking, he was completely enamored.

After giving Vice President Lee a few instructions, Julia apologized again and again to President Wang before leaving the private room.

Many people were waiting for the elevator near the third-floor exit. Julia, in a hurry to leave, didn't want to wait and headed towards the staircase next to the elevator. Since it was only the third floor, taking the stairs wouldn't be tiring or take up much time.

Soon, she reached the first floor. As she approached the entrance of the hotel, several men in suits were walking towards her, laughing and talking. They also seemed to have come to the Golden Phoenix Inn for a meal.

Julia casually glanced at them and then paused—among the men was Nicholas Coldwell.

Nicholas looked somewhat tired, but he was still trying his best to hide it, laughing and joking with the other men, oozing with flattery and sycophancy.

Julia did not want to greet him and stepped aside, continuing on her way.

"Julia."

The heavens didn't heed her wish to avoid Nicholas Coldwell. As soon as he saw her, he called out her name. Then, Nicholas spoke softly to the men with him. With suggestive smirks, the men glanced at Julia Bluen, each nodding and grinning at Nicholas before they walked off.

Julia didn't slow her pace. Now, seeing Nicholas left her utterly unfeeling. The love she once held, the pain she once suffered, had long been ground to dust by Nicholas Coldwell's true face. In her eyes, he was now just another irrelevant stranger among the masses on the street.

"Julia," Nicholas advanced a few steps, blocking her path, his handsome face etched with affection for Julia. Even though Glades Horne and Julia had dealt him a heavy blow, causing him to lose face in Upper Class Society, the sight of Julia still made him lose control.

"Julia, what brings you here? Are you alone? Isn't Glades accompanying you? Could it be he's keeping a mistress? Julia, all men are the same. Glades won't be any better..."

"Do I need to explain to you why I'm here? What's it to you if I'm alone? Why should it matter to you whether Glades is with me or not? Who are you to me? Yes, all men are the same, but their hearts differ. Do you think everyone is like you? It doesn't matter what you think of him; in my heart, he's an exceptionally good man, while you're the bad one! Move aside!"

Julia was incensed by his words.

What right did a heartless man have to meddle in her affairs?

Or to judge whether her man was 'any better'?

If she had a broom in her hands, Julia would've loved nothing more than to thrash Nicholas's shameless face with it. He bore the look of a prince but was truly the visage of a scoundrel.

"Julia..."

"I am Mrs. Glades Horne, Mr. Coldwell. Please address me as Mrs. Horne!"

Julia cut Nicholas off sharply, emphatically reminding him that she was not the Julia Bluen of the past. She was now the young mistress of the foremost prominent family in T City.

"Julia," Nicholas called out bitterly. The words 'Mrs. Horne' pierced his heart like needles. To think his beloved was with Glades Horne, and his own professional life was continuously oppressed by Glades! He still hadn't managed to arrange the fleet for shipping. Dio Powell was frantic, incessantly berating him for being useless. Clients were pressing him, threatening to seek contractually agreed damages if he couldn't deliver on time. He had contemplated asking the Hanley Family for help, but they had given him no face. Only because he knew the men who had just entered with him were acquainted with Edo Hanley and had some connection, did he try to flatter and ingratiate himself, hoping they would speak to Edo on his behalf. All these burdens weighed on him like mountains, leaving him nearly breathless. And the woman he once cherished now treated him as a stranger. Nicholas detested Glades Horne to his core.

Yet, he neglected to accept that it was all his own doing.

"As I said, please call me Mrs. Horne. Mr. Coldwell, I'm sorry, but I don't have time for this idle chat. Please step aside; I'm leaving." Julia spoke coldly, attempting to bypass Nicholas, but he kept backing away, persistently blocking her path.
