Chapter 519: Purchasing an Estate (Part 2)

"I think I'll consider it carefully."

Seeing that they had almost finished talking, Zhou Yuwen finally asked, how much does this estate cost now?

Heather smiled and said, "This estate can't be measured by money."

Zhou Yuwen said in English, "What I mean is, for an estate as big as yours, how much would it roughly cost in US dollars?"

Originally, Heather thought Zhou Yuwen was just asking casually, but seeing how seriously Zhou Yuwen was speaking, she couldn't help but take a closer look at him and think seriously.

"Well, actually, I'm not familiar with the market, but my neighbor happens to be selling his estate. It's about 32 acres and costs around fifteen million US dollars, haha."

32 acres is roughly 1.5 million square meters, equivalent to one-third of a small county.

When Zhou Yuwen heard that someone was selling an estate, he became interested and asked if it had been sold.

"No, but it seems like most of the buyers are you Orientals. This guy wants a full cash transaction, so most people just come to have a look," Heather shrugged and said.

Fifteen million US dollars is about 120 million, and Zhou Yuwen felt the price wasn't too expensive, so he asked Heather if she could help arrange an introduction.

He wanted to buy an estate himself.

If he could become neighbors with such a beautiful lady, it would be wonderful.

When Heather heard this, she leaned over, with great interest, looked carefully at Zhou Yuwen, and asked with a smile, "How old are you, boy?"

Zhou Yuwen said he was turning 20 soon.

Heather said, "Oh, then it seems like you should call me auntie, I'm already thirty."

Heather said as she raised three fingers and winked at Zhou Yuwen.

Su Qing chuckled and gave Zhou Yuwen a look, implying "You flirt with anyone."

Zhou Yuwen laughed and said, "Well then, Auntie Miss, could you help me with an introduction?"

"Of course, but if this business deal goes through, I need a 0.5% handling fee, okay?" Heather said.

Zhou Yuwen thought to himself how fitting for a capitalist society where money is always discussed.

"Of course, you deserve it."

And so it was settled, Su Qing and Susan returned to New York early for work, while Zhou Yuwen stayed to discuss buying the estate with Heather.

This place is near Boston, the capital of Massachusetts, in the United States. In Boston, there are companies specializing in estate transactions. In fact, Heather's neighbor has already listed the estate for sale, but even if Zhou Yuwen went through an agency, he would still have to pay a handling fee.

So with Heather helping out, things were indeed more convenient, and after about two days, Zhou Yuwen met Heather's neighbor, Brown.

Brown took them for a tour, and the place was indeed large, but compared to Heather's estate, it was clear that this one hadn't been managed in a long time.

In fact, Brown now lives in Europe most of the time, and if it weren't for Heather calling him, he wouldn't have come.

The estate includes a vineyard, a winery, a castle, an underground wine cellar, a flower house, several lakeside cabins, a Metasequoia Forest, and a stand of American birch trees.

This estate was inherited by Brown from his uncle, who didn't have any children. In fact, he hadn't been in contact with his uncle for twenty years, and a year ago, a lawyer suddenly informed him that he inherited an estate, which surprised him.

He's just an ordinary office worker, and inheriting this estate might make it hard for him to even pay the inheritance tax. He hopes to sell the estate as soon as possible.

Otherwise, he has to pay an annual management fee.

Heather told Zhou Yuwen that this estate hasn't been productive for a long time, but he could hire nearby farmers to help rebuild the estate. Old Brown's winemaking skills were very famous throughout Boston, and after buying the estate, Zhou Yuwen could produce his own wine.

In a whole day, Zhou Yuwen didn't manage to tour the entire estate, so he said he would wait and explore some more.

Brown hoped Zhou Yuwen would make a quick decision because he had to return to work.

Zhou Yuwen nodded.

In the evening, Zhou Yuwen called Lu Wanting to ask if it would be difficult to withdraw twenty million US dollars from the company.

Lu Wanting asked Zhou Yuwen what he planned to do.

Zhou Yuwen said he wanted to buy an estate.

"Buy an estate? Why?" Lu Wanting was puzzled.

Zhou Yuwen said he wanted to farm land.

Lu Wanting laughed and asked when Zhou Yuwen needed it.

Zhou Yuwen said, "Start the process by tomorrow."

"Okay."

The next day, Brown continued to show Zhou Yuwen further into the estate.

By the lakeside, Zhou Yuwen saw a herd of wild cattle drinking water, the herd totaled around thirty animals big and small. Heather recognized the biggest cattle, saying it was raised by old Brown, and presumably was released into the wild and now has become feral.

Besides, not far away, they saw a herd of wild horses running along the lake, about twenty of them.

Heather told Zhou Yuwen that this horse herd probably came from elsewhere.

According to Massachusetts law, any wild animals that enter private land become the personal property of the landowner.

So if Zhou Yuwen buys this estate, then this herd of wild horses belongs to him.

Of course, he would need to hire cowboys to tame them.

"So, are you tempted?" Heather asked with a smile.

Zhou Yuwen nodded expressionlessly and told Brown that he would consider it if the price could be a little lower.

Brown shrugged and said, "If so, I might as well sell it to an institution."

Seeing that the price couldn't be negotiated down, Zhou Yuwen could only nod and say, "In that case, let's do it, $15 million it is."

"Pleasure doing business," Brown exhaled and shook hands with Zhou Yuwen.

Thus Zhou Yuwen finally had a piece of land to call his own.

And Heather, upon her return, made a small profit unexpectedly and happily invited Zhou Yuwen for drinks, calling him the generous Oriental.

She asked if Zhou Yuwen came from a mysterious Oriental family.

"You're so young yet so wealthy."

In the quiet of the night, Heather, with shiny lips from the wine, and Zhou Yuwen were chatting on the terrace; she reached out, tugging on Zhou Yuwen's collar, and said.

Zhou Yuwen said he came from the Wizard Family of the Orient.

"Wizard?" Heather became intrigued.

Zhou Yuwen explained that his family specializes in prophecy.

"In fact, I didn't come here to find Susan, but because prophecy told me that this land holds endless wealth."

Heather giggled upon hearing this and said, "Interesting, Oriental boy, I also want to know what kind of wealth is here."

Just as Zhou Yuwen planned to continue bragging to Heather, the phone rang suddenly.

Seeing it's Lu Wanting, Zhou Yuwen picked up the call.

"Hey! Darling!" Zheng Yanyan's voice blared from the phone.

It almost startled Zhou Yuwen.

Zhou Yuwen asked, "Why is it you? Where's your sister Waning?"

Then Lu Wanting took the phone, explaining that after Zheng Yanyan found out Zhou Yuwen bought an estate, she insisted on visiting him. If it was Zhou Yuwen's estate, wouldn't it be her estate too?

She was so excited at the thought of visiting the estate to take photos and post on social media.

Listening to Zheng Yanyan's excitement over the phone, Zhou Yuwen thought that not only she but probably the other girls were curious too, so he asked Lu Wanting if they wanted to come over.

"Me? I'm okay with anything," Lu Wanting was still a bit shy.

Zhou Yuwen said, "Then you ask if they want to come, and if so, they can all come by tomorrow."
