Chapter 536 Debut
[Aetherstorm Genesis (Mythos+): The ability to summon and control storms of incomprehensible scale, infused with Aetherial energy. Your storms are not bound by any atmosphere or environment. They can exist in the vacuum of space, tearing apart fleets or altering planetary conditions. Their destructive power is unmatched, and their aetherial nature disrupts dimensional stability, prohibiting the use of any spatial or dimensional escape abilities within your range.]
Alex swallowed hard. Aetherstorm Genesis seemed to pair perfectly with Bronte's Lightning mastery. This talent clearly wasn't just a power — it was a weapon of mass cosmic destruction. If Brontes unleashed this… Alex didn't even know what the scale of the damage would be.
[Heaven's pulse (Mythos+): Your heartbeat resonates with the universe itself. By syncing with cosmic energy, your body can release waves of energy that disrupt everything nearby, nullifying any abilities below S tier or Divine class in strength, or revive recently killed allies with a rejuvenating surge of lightning.]
Alex leaned back at this point, with his mind swirling with all the possibilities Bronte's power could offer. The abilities he'd seen already were already so impossibly powerful that he just blanked out and read the last of its abilities.
[Titanic Growth (Mythos+): Your body size can increase exponentially, and with it, your strength, durability and energy reserves increase. But the reverse is also possible, you can shrink your body down to the size of the average mortal, hiding your aura and presence, masking you as just another ordinary mortal.]
Alex felt a cold sweat drip down his back.
He imagined Brontes, already as huge as a small moon, growing even larger. The thought was equal parts of awe inspiring and terrifying.
With the descriptions finishing, Alex closed the system window and exhaled sharply, trying to gather his thoughts.
Brontes' power wasn't just overwhelming — it was life changing. He was no longer playing by the same rules as everyone else.
Still, the thought of wielding this kind of strength made his chest tighten. Could he handle it? Could he control Brontes if something went wrong? His control over Brontes as his tame was a double edged sword.
Sure, he essentially held all this power himself by proxy, but if one day Brontes grew up and escaped from his control, or something happened to him that made him no longer want to be bound by Alex, then what could he do?
He'd be helpless in front of him.
Not just that, but when word spread of Alex's taming of this Divine being, it would put a huge target on his back that probably most of the universe would be after.
After all, who wouldn't want control over such a game changing beast?
A low rumble echoed through the air as Brontes stirred, with its eyes glowing and focusing on Alex. Its emotions were transferred across its connection with him, carrying a reassuring warmth.
"Alright…" Alex spoke to him, with a small smile breaking across his face.
"I don't know what the hell I've gotten myself into, but why don't we test out your power?" He spoke to Brontes with a mischievous and evil grin on his face, before turning to look towards the Lux in the distance.
At Alex's command, a blinding light erupted as Brontes unleashed a fraction of his power. Arcs of aetherial lightning danced across the void, creating a web of energy that crackled and hissed with fury.
The energy rippled outward, interfering with the both the Lux's and the Federation's technological systems, even causing smaller ships to malfunction. But the biggest effect it had was on the huge Lux ship that had crossed over the wormhole.
It's shield were immediately immobalised, leaving it vulnerable to attack from even lower life form level attacks.
However the greatest spectacle was yet to have revealed itself.
The wormhole behind the Lux front flickered and forcefully closed when the web of aetherial ligning drew near, sending a deep and gravity defying shockwave of spatial energy outward in all directions when it did so.
Opening a wormhole itself was an incredible feat, but closing one forcefully had untold consequences for the space around it…
Even if Brontes' lightning hadn't already destroyed the Lux's fleet and most importantly their huge ship, the aftershock of the wormhole being forced shut would have sealed the deal and destroyed them.
However, this made Alex fall into a panic.
This was the first time he had ever tried using a power as strong as Brontes' so he didn't expect for it to be THAT strong.
"Brontes quick, block that shockwave!" He shouted through his connection to Brontes as he watched the wave of spatial energy from the wormhole roar in the direction of the Federation's ships.
He'd seen what they had done to the wreckage of the Lux's ships, and he would do anything to stop it from reaching his own forces' ships!
The moment Alex gave the command, Brontes acted instantly. It's colossal form shimmered as arcs of lightning converged into a pulsating barrier around the Federation's ships.
The energy field hummed with raw power, and soon the spatial shockwave collided with it, sending rippled through the field. Bronte's strength was tested as the sheer force of the wormhole's collapse threatened to overwhelm even its divine powers!
It was only just born after all, and while its abilities were described as reality defying, it's soul core still had to reach a certain point before it could unleash them to its full potential.
A- rank may seem like an extremely strong being to someone like Alex, but to a race like the Aetherion, it was only the starting point.
The shockwave pressed harder, but brontes roared — a sound echoed across dimensions on the short area of space they occupied. The barrier flared brighter, and with a final surge of power, Brontes managed to repel the spatial energy outward, dispersing it harmlessly into the void of space.
The Federation fleet was safe now, and the Lux's ships were obliterated. Silence followed shortly after, followed only by the crackling remnants of Aetherial lightning dissipating into the emptiness.
Alex let out a breath he hadn't realised he was holding in.
"That… was close." he muttered in a shaky voice.
If he didn't manage to stop that shockwave in time, then Althea, Isla, Olgierd, Captain Korn with all his men, and most importantly Mira, would have all been obliterated it.
However when he looked over at Brontes, its eyes tightly shut, clearing having fallen into a deep, dark slumber after that exhausting debut.
But in the next moment, Alex noticed its body starting to shrink. In a matter of seconds it went from a moon sized colossal being, to around the size of an adult human…
