Chapter 305: Terror.
What Sophia felt in that moment was something that she never really experienced… those smiles on both Hector and Ramirez's faces were telling… like radiated madness because they looked exactly like beasts… beasts ready to hunt.
Yeah, she felt fear even though she knew that she is in a position where she is with them, she still felt it, this strange feeling, that in front of them people sat that she don't know shit about, people who are for a reason are in the Bellini family, people who for a reason have power… reason that James trusts them.
And she just started to experience it, that from outside the Bellini family looked and still look fearsome, but now from the inside, being with them, seeing them is a totally different thing on its own, something she couldn't even prepare for.
These people are truly beasts and truly on another level of human understanding, of emotions, of wills… just looking at their smiles when Benjamin said "hunt" yeah those smiles were everything but a sane person's smiles.
How strange it was, she wanted to do the same, to kill people who are responsible for the attack, who she has a dossier about… but now looking at them she felt different… because she knew pretty well that Hector and Ramirez are not like her, not like her men, her soldiers, no… the stories about them not just real but only the surface of things, and now it begins… a hunt that their smile for… is a hunt of people, of their enemies… smiles without even any emotion in their eyes… no… there was emotion in their eyes… pure enjoyment.
But why did Sophia feel that way? Why did she suddenly feel fear when she was the one who had argued with them to act immediately?
Simply she just realized the fact that who she is with exactly, like that smile reminded her that Hector is the same Hector who skinned, chopped heads, hanged and burned alive people… yeah simply Hector is a fucking maniac who is going to turn everything upside down rather than going smoothly and her whole worry about it was the fact that she too didn't trust the government and now it was the fucking NSBI director who called them up saying the hunt begins….
Just how big of evidence this could be? If they are being voice recorded while they are talking it could be used against them and what to come with it life sentence or even death with this new bullshit that's what she actually thought.
It all just seemed too much to her, that it truly a deal between them and the government… all of it felt like dancing on a thin line, if the government thinks James has too much power and influence then they can fucking pull out a million documents, a million information about him and then it's all done.
Yeah, well, it's a possibility, but what she forgot about the whole thing is how it all started… well, to tell the truth, she didn't even know. James literally had half of the government in his pocket before the whole deal through countless connections. Even if he wasn't the one who personally made them, the information still sits locked in a bank vault, ready to be published if the government fucks up or turns against them and that alone would be enough to spark an uprising.
Well, she came late, with nobody really explaining to her what had happened, and second, only Hector knows about those documents James has in the bank, the names, the info, all the evidence. It's not just paper, but pendrives, voice recordings, everything you can imagine… and those are truly the final weapon, one that could topple the government.
"What's with the silence? Hector, you there?" Benjamin asked — the quiet had gone on too long. "Did this surprise you?"
"Surprised?" Hector replied with a faint laugh. "No. I was hoping the government had a hand in it… so I can finally kill that bitch."
"Oh, Linda?" Benjamin giggled. "Be glad she finally gave the order so we can start the hunt. So what do we do, and how do we do it? I've got thousands of pages on potential targets, do we go with that, or do we follow you?"
As he asked it, Hector looked up at Sophia. "You know the cartel connections?"
"I do." She answered immediately, though she still had that worry in her eyes.
"Then Sophia will go with you, Benjamin, to get those she has in the files, while me and Ramirez will clean up the family and then we go out too. In that way we can be more effective than hunting for the same." Hector said as his faint smile was still on his face and it was clear.
He wanted to kill those who betrayed the family with his own hands, he wanted to give them terror personally.
"I'm good with that, at least we can go with the national emergency narrative in this way." Benjamin said. "Sophia, are there?"
"I am."
"Nice to meet you, I am the NSBI director and a good friend of James, so please don't be too hostile against me and when you're ready let's meet at the NSBI headquarters, and try to cover your face with something, in that way we can talk about the information you have and act on it."
"You want me to walk into the NSBI headquarters…?" She asked back, mindblown by the fact that the fucking director said it, the national fucking security director asked her to walk into the arch-nemesis organization building… the headquarters.
"Yeah why not?" Benjamin continued. "James walked into the ministry without any problem, so you can do the same and then we can raid the people that are on your list, but now I have to go, so let's meet here in an hour." He said and with it put down the phone leaving Sophia more mindblown.
"Don't worry about it." Hector said as he slowly stood up. "Benjamin might be the feds but we need him now…" He looked deep into her eyes.. "And be sure to kill them, all of them, don't even let them beg for their life."
