Chapter 114 – Crushing Sabrina

Sabrina looked at the Team Rocket uniform in Asahi's hands.

She didn't believe for a second that Eevee had wandered in by accident.

From the beginning, Asahi had casually mentioned that Sird had visited Saffron Gym, then used the battle and Gardevoir's tablet to distract her, creating an opportunity to send Eevee in to investigate and uncover proof of her connection to Team Rocket.

Looking back, it was clear that Asahi's goal was never the Gym challenge—it was to expose her identity.

"Asahi, Investigator, that is a trophy from my previous battle against Team Rocket. Please return it to me."

Even as she spoke words she didn't believe herself, Sabrina secretly used her psychic power to unclip two Poké Balls from her waist, preparing for battle.

Now that she was exposed, the best course of action was to capture Asahi and erase his memories of her connection to Team Rocket with Psychic-type abilities.

Though this would leave some traces, it was better than being completely exposed.

However, to Sabrina's surprise, Asahi seemed to believe her blatantly false explanation.

"Oh? So it's a trophy."

"My apologies, then. My Eevee must have caused you trouble."

Asahi nonchalantly had Gardevoir use Psychic to return the uniform to Green.

The white Team Rocket uniform floated toward Sabrina, but just as it passed the halfway mark, there was a sharp ripping sound—the uniform was shredded to pieces by Sabrina's psychic power.

"Miss Sabrina, what does this mean?" Asahi put on a look of 'surprise.'

With a cold expression, Sabrina said, "Drop the act. You knew from the start, didn't you?"

Asahi's expression of shock gradually faded, replaced by a smile. "So you figured it out. What a shame…"

Just a bit more, and Gardevoir's psychic energy could have gotten close to Sabrina, giving him a major advantage.

Now that all pretenses were dropped, Sabrina felt oddly calm. "When did you realize it? Was it because of Sird?"

She didn't think she had shown any flaws—if there was one, it had to be Sird.

"Sird? Not at all… That was just something I threw out randomly." Asahi chuckled. "Actually, Lt. Surge told me about your identity."

"Heh."

Sabrina didn't believe a word.

If Surge had exposed her, Giovanni wouldn't have let him live, let alone her.

She was only talking to Asahi to buy time.

A Hypno appeared silently behind Asahi, its claws raised to fire a Psybeam.

But…

Bang!

Before it could move, Gardevoir pinned it to the wall with a Psychic blast, knocking it unconscious.

However, this was merely Sabrina's diversion. The moment Gardevoir's attention shifted to Hypno, Sabrina threw two Poké Balls.

A Kadabra and an Espeon appeared, joining Alakazam in attacking Asahi.

At the same time, Sabrina activated the Gym's security system.

The doors locked, and multiple Psychic-type Pokémon were teleported into the battle arena.

Unlike Lt. Surge, who preferred recruiting subordinates, Sabrina relied solely on Pokémon. To her, these Psychic-types were far more useful than most Team Rocket trainers.

Asahi observed the scene.

On one side, Sabrina's main force, led by an Elite Four-level Alakazam, launched their assault.

On the other, a horde of Psychic Pokémon stood ready to strike.

A dazzling light pierced through the protective energy field, reflecting in Sabrina's eyes, making her expression shift.

If her senses weren't mistaken… Gardevoir's psychic power was skyrocketing!

Sensing imminent danger, Sabrina ordered all Pokémon to focus their attacks on Gardevoir's protective barrier.

Psychic, Psyshock, Future Sight, Psycho Cut…

The barrage of attacks created ripples across the barrier, and even Gardevoir struggled to maintain it.

With a shattering sound, the protective field collapsed, and the remaining attacks surged toward Asahi and Gardevoir.

Asahi's voice rang out behind her.

"Attacking an investigator? The Gym will be shut down for sure."

Snapping her head around, Sabrina found Asahi lounging in her seat, head propped on one hand.

Eevee groomed itself in his lap, while Gardevoir—now clad in a black, elegant aura—sat on the armrest beside him.

[He teleported? And he had time to pose?]

For some reason, that thought surfaced in Sabrina's mind.

And at this moment, she fully sensed Gardevoir's Mega Evolution-enhanced psychic power—empowered further by the Psychic Tablet.

[Champion-level…]

She never expected Asahi to be hiding this much.

Now, she knew—there was no way she could win.

Sabrina cast a deep look at Asahi. "You win this time. The Saffron Gym is yours for now. But one day…"

She prepared to teleport away with her Pokémon.

However… after a few seconds, nothing happened.

Seeing her bewildered expression, Asahi burst into laughter.

"Haha! You really thought I'd leave your teleportation unchecked?"

Sabrina turned her head, her face grim.
