Pokemon: The Master Of Monsters

Chapter 28: Chapter 28: Evolution of Metal Coat

"It's not necessary," Gary said with a thoughtful tone. "If you want to travel, you should go ahead. You're strong enough that normal Gym Trainers won't be a challenge for you."

A.J. had been working tirelessly behind closed doors, learning training techniques from TV programs and training methods, never having faced off against any Gym Trainers. He had set a goal for himself to achieve 100 consecutive wins, thinking it would help him improve. But Gary knew that A.J. was already at a level where his training had plateaued. "If you stay here, you'll just be wasting time," Gary continued. "You need to face stronger opponents to grow."

A.J. hesitated, contemplating Gary's advice. "Really?" he asked, still unsure. "I've been training alone for so long."

"Of course," Gary affirmed. "Look, I've already won badges from Cerulean City. The Gym there isn't as tough as you think. I suggest you go out and travel. Even if you keep pushing for 100 consecutive wins, there's no one around here who can challenge you."

A.J. nodded slowly, appreciating the advice but still not fully ready to leave. "Thank you, but I need to prepare more before traveling. I'll think about it."

Seeing A.J. was determined, Gary decided not to press further. He left A.J.'s base and rode away on his mountain bike, ready for his own journey and growth.

Two days later, Gary arrived at Saffron City and made his way to the Silver Pokémon Department Store. He had an important mission: to evolve his Scyther using a Metal Coat.

Upon entering the store, a polite waiter greeted him. "Welcome! How may I assist you today?"

"I need a Metal Coat," Gary said.

"Are you looking for a Metal Coat for evolution, or just as an item?" the waiter asked, clearly knowledgeable.

"For evolution," Gary confirmed.

"Ah, I see. We have a special Metal Coat developed for evolution. It also has a chance of improving the Pokémon's potential," the waiter explained.

"Really?" Gary was intrigued. He'd simply planned to use a regular Metal Coat for Scyther's evolution, but this sounded promising.

"Yes," the waiter continued, "this Metal Coat is exclusive to our store. It was developed by Silph Co., and it has been proven to enhance a Pokémon's potential during evolution. We assure you that it is a genuine product."

Gary was surprised. Silph Co. was known for its innovation in Pokémon technology, and it made sense that they would develop something as advanced as a Metal Coat with added benefits.

"Take me to see it," Gary requested.

The waiter led him to a counter where evolution items were on display, but there was no Metal Coat visible.

"Please wait a moment," the waiter said and walked to a warehouse door. He pulled out a Poké Ball, releasing a Machop.

"Machop?" Gary wondered. Why was the waiter bringing out Machop?

The waiter entered the warehouse with Machop and returned a moment later, holding a half-meter-high iron bucket. The bucket had "Metal Coat" written on it in graffiti, indicating it was indeed the special evolution item.

"This is the Metal Coat used for evolution," the waiter explained. "You simply apply it to the Pokémon, and it will evolve."

Gary looked at the heavy metal bucket. "Can it really increase the Pokémon's potential?" he asked.

The waiter nodded. "Yes, but the enhancement is not guaranteed. Just like any Evolution Stone, there is no 100% chance of improvement. It's similar to how a doctor can't guarantee a cure for every illness."

"I understand," Gary said. He was still a bit skeptical but decided to take the chance. "How much does it cost?"

"Four million," the waiter replied.

Gary blinked. "Why is it more expensive than the best Evolution Stones?"

"The Metal Coats we sell are specially designed and produced in limited quantities. The demand for these items isn't high because only a few Pokémon, such as Scyther and Onix, can use them for evolution. That's why the price is higher," the waiter explained.

Onix was a large and rare Pokémon that many Trainers didn't have the resources to raise, which kept demand low. Scyther, though, was an elegant but rare Pokémon that Trainers cherished, making this Metal Coat a prized item.

"Alright, I'll buy it," Gary decided, pulling out a black card.

Upon seeing the black card, the waiter was visibly shocked. It was a prestigious card issued by Professor Oak, indicating that Gary was not just any ordinary Trainer but someone connected to the renowned professor.

Gary made the payment, and the waiter, eager to provide the best service, said, "Sir, this Metal Coat is heavy. Would you like to evolve your Pokémon here?"

Gary nodded. "Let's do it here."

"Excellent choice," the waiter said, leading Gary to an open space. "Please feel free to proceed."

Gary took out a Poké Ball and threw it into the air. "Scyther, come out!"

The waiter was momentarily taken aback. The only Pokémon that could evolve with a Metal Coat were Onix and Scyther. Thankfully, Scyther was a manageable size compared to Onix, and the store had the space for such a Pokémon.

"Chirp!" Scyther emerged from its Poké Ball, flapping its wings before settling down to observe the surroundings.

"Scyther, this is a Metal Coat," Gary said, showing the shiny item. "Apply this to your body, and you can evolve into Scizor. Remember, it's important to use it now, right before you evolve."

"Chirp!" Scyther nodded enthusiastically. It had always dreamed of evolving into a Scizor, and now that dream was within reach. Gary had shown Scyther a picture of Scizor before, and the Pokémon was eager for the change.

Gary gestured to Machop. "Machop, can you open the lid for us?"

With a grunt of effort, Machop lifted the lid off the iron bucket, revealing the glistening silver liquid inside. It looked like liquid metal, and Gary could tell it was ready for use.

"Now, let's do this," Gary said, dipping the brush into the liquid metal. He carefully applied it to Scyther's body, ensuring it was fully coated. As the liquid touched Scyther's form, the evolution began to take place.

"Scyther, evolve!" Gary shouted, watching as the transformation took place. Scyther's body glowed, and its shape began to change, its wings becoming sleeker and more streamlined as its form grew stronger and more imposing.

Moments later, Scyther had completely evolved into Scizor.

"Scizor, congratulations!" Gary exclaimed. The newly evolved Scizor looked powerful and ready for battle, its steel-type body gleaming in the light.

The waiter, amazed by the process, commented, "This Metal Coat really did the trick. Scyther has evolved into an impressive Scizor."

Gary smiled, proud of his Pokémon. "Let's continue our journey, Scizor. There are more challenges ahead."

With Scizor now part of his team, Gary was more determined than ever to prove his strength on his travels and face the next step in his journey with confidence.
