"Come back, Seadra. You did well."

Meiko's demeanor showed no signs of disappointment over Seadra's defeat.

She glanced at Golbat, whose wings appeared stiff and labored as it panted heavily, then calmly retrieved Seadra into its PokéBall.

Last night, Meiko had obtained detailed information from a plain-dressed female Trainer. This data included in-depth records of all the Pokémon in Sato's team, down to the smallest detail.

She knew that Golbat was the strongest Pokémon in Sato's lineup, while Seadra ranked only fourth among her own Pokémon.

The reason she had sent Seadra out was due to its ability to battle effectively in a water terrain and its access to moves that counter Golbat.

Meiko had already anticipated Seadra's defeat.

However, what left her slightly frustrated was that under her command, Seadra had failed to cause any significant damage to Golbat, narrowly avoiding an outright overwhelming defeat.

Ironically, in its confused state, Seadra had managed to land a super-effective Ice Beam against Golbat at the last moment.

Ice-type moves deal double damage to Flying-types, and that Ice Beam must have inflicted severe damage on Golbat.

Now, one of Golbat's wings showed visible signs of frostbite, and it had already expended a considerable amount of energy.

In the upcoming battles, Golbat's combat effectiveness would undoubtedly diminish significantly, making it much easier to defeat.

In Meiko's mind, Golbat was now practically a spent force, akin to a Pokémon unable to continue fighting.

In her view, she had traded one of her weaker Pokémon to cripple her opponent's strongest—an exchange she considered highly favorable.

Moreover, with the detailed information she had received about Sato's other Pokémon, Meiko was now thoroughly prepared. She knew exactly how to deal with each member of Sato's team.

As the saying goes, "Know your enemy, and know yourself, and you will emerge victorious in every battle."

Meiko was brimming with confidence for the rest of this match, firmly believing that she would be the ultimate victor.

"Skarmory, it's your turn. Get ready to fight!"

Meiko wasted no time in deciding her next move. She took out an Ultra Ball, pressed the button, and released the Pokémon inside.

In the next moment, a beam of white light shot out from the Ultra Ball and materialized in midair. A large metallic bird, much larger than Golbat, appeared before everyone's eyes.

Skarmory spread its wings, which spanned nearly three meters, and its entire body was clad in gleaming silver armor, exuding a sense of unparalleled strength and majesty. Its piercing, sharp eyes gleamed with a resolute brilliance as it gazed proudly at Golbat.

The moment Skarmory appeared, Sato's expression shifted subtly but quickly returned to normal.

Using his system's scanning capabilities, he discreetly examined Skarmory's stats, and his expression darkened slightly as he read the details.

Pokémon: Skarmory

Level: 34

Type: Flying/Steel

Ability: Keen Eye

Gender: Female

Known Moves: Leer, Peck, Sand Attack, Metal Claw, Air Cutter, Fury Attack, Feint, Swift, Spikes, Agility, Steel Wing, Drill Peck (Egg Move), Protect (TM), Double Team (TM)

"This is going to be troublesome… she actually sent out Skarmory, and at such a high level. It's clearly well-trained."

Looking at Skarmory's data, Sato felt a tinge of helplessness. From a type perspective, Skarmory had a significant advantage over Golbat.

Furthermore, with its sturdy steel armor and larger size, it was clear that Golbat couldn't compete in raw power.

If Golbat were in peak condition, it might have been able to leverage its speed advantage to outmaneuver Skarmory.

Moreover, it still had a hidden ace—Hidden Power (Electric-type)—that could potentially catch Skarmory off guard and deal heavy damage, possibly even knocking it out.

Unfortunately, Golbat had been hit unexpectedly by Seadra's Ice Beam, leaving it significantly injured. One of its wings was now impaired, and its speed advantage was likely gone.

Competing with Skarmory in aerial combat was now nearly impossible.

As for his other main Pokémon, Bellossom, Sato couldn't rely on it in this situation.

Bellossom had yet to master its Hidden Power (Rock-type), leaving it ill-equipped to deal with a Flying-type Pokémon that dominated the skies.

His remaining two Pokémon capable of battling gave Sato a headache. This match was revealing the glaring weakness of his insufficient roster depth.

The current battlefield was water-based. Sending out Growlithe, a Fire-type, would be as good as handing his opponent a win. Without mastery of Flamethrower, Growlithe posed little threat to the airborne Skarmory.

That left Nidoran, who at least had Thunderbolt, a fast and powerful Electric-type move, making it a serious threat to Flying-types like Skarmory.

The only issue was Nidoran's level—it was only level 19. Asking it to overcome a 15-level gap and defeat a level 34 Skarmory was almost impossible.

The difference in stats and raw power was simply too vast.

Even so, Sato had no choice but to press forward. He needed to conserve Golbat and Bellossom's strength for the later rounds if he wanted any chance of winning this fifth-round match.

Letting them battle against an unfavorable type matchup would be foolish.

"Take a rest, Golbat. You did great. Nidoran, you're up!"

After a brief moment of thought, Sato decided on his plan. He recalled Golbat and then solemnly released Nidoran from its PokéBall.

Even though he knew that his level 19 Nidoran stood little chance against a level 34 Skarmory, Sato had no other options.

A beam of white light shot out from the blue PokéBall in his hand, landing on a circular floating platform on the water battlefield.

As the light dissipated, a robust Nidoran appeared, causing the platform to sink slightly under its weight.

The water battlefield was dotted with numerous white floating platforms, all loosely connected. Non-Water-type Pokémon relied on these platforms to fight in this terrain.

"Haha, just as the intel suggested. His main Pokémon are only Golbat and Bellossom. Nidoran and Growlithe are secondary, with Nidoran being the weakest. Since this is a water battlefield, there's no way he'd send out his Fire-type Growlithe, so he's forced to use Nidoran with its Electric-type move. This match is already in the bag!"

Seeing Sato withdraw Golbat and send out the weakest Nidoran, Meiko's face lit up with a triumphant smile. She silently reveled in her apparent advantage.

Her opponent seemed to be at his wit's end, while she still had her trump cards untouched. This psychological edge made Meiko even more confident and delighted.
