Faced with the combined attacks of Dragon Breath and Swift, the reckless Geodude that charged forward had no choice but to accept its fate and be defeated.
After dispatching the trio of Geodude, Tyson continued searching through the rock piles for more of them. While his primary goal was to collect mission points, he realized he was also helping future trainers by exposing the well-camouflaged Geodude, sparing them from sudden ambushes.
For a moment, Tyson allowed himself to feel a sense of accomplishment, as though he was performing a great service for others.
Before long, Tyson had swept through the entire area, defeating every Geodude concealed in the rocky terrain. However, when it came to the caves, where his system detected clusters of Zubat and Golbat, he chose not to venture inside.
The sheer number of bat Pokémon made it clear it would be a dangerous gamble. Charging in with just his Charmeleon would be like offering himself up as a snack for the hungry Zubat, leaving him drained in every sense.
"Alright, let's take a break here," Tyson announced after finding an open space.
He unpacked his supplies from his trusty backpack, pulling out the sandwich he had prepared earlier. The surrounding scenery reminded him of a relaxing picnic, and the thought made him smile. Deciding to indulge, he took out additional food and called his Pokémon over.
"Come on, everyone, let's have a picnic! You've worked hard with all that training and battling."
Tyson gently woke Abra, who was sound asleep as usual. The moment Abra caught sight of the food, its energy levels skyrocketed. It quickly floated over to sit beside Eevee, waiting obediently for the feast to begin.
"You little glutton," Tyson chuckled, giving Abra's head a light tap. But there was no hiding the fondness in his tone. After all, a trainer's Pokémon were like family.
"Dig in!" Tyson declared, and soon, the group was happily munching away on their meal. While the Pokémon enjoyed their special food tailored for growth and nutrition, Tyson savored his sandwich.
"Burp~!" came a series of contented belches from Charmeleon, Eevee, Abra, and Tyson himself. They all flopped onto the grass, hands (or paws) on their full stomachs, basking in the warm sunlight.
Abra, feeling cozy and relaxed, drifted off to sleep once more. However, this time, something unusual happened.
In Abra's dream, it saw itself evolving—first into Kadabra, then into Alakazam. The vision of newfound strength and power felt so vivid that Abra suddenly woke up, startled.
"What's wrong, Abra? Bad dream?" Tyson asked, noticing the Pokémon's unusual behavior. Before Abra could respond, a brilliant white glow began to envelop its body.
"Charmeleon, Eevee, wake up! Be on guard!" Tyson called out sharply.
Sensing the seriousness in his tone, Charmeleon and Eevee quickly sprang to their feet, scanning the area as they prepared for any threats. They soon realized what was happening—Abra was evolving.
Within the dazzling light, Abra's body began to shift and change. Though Tyson had witnessed evolution before, it never failed to fill him with a mix of excitement and nerves.
As the glow subsided, Kadabra stood proudly in place of Abra. Its appearance had transformed: its fur remained the same golden hue, but its ears were now long and pointed, and a red star adorned its forehead. Its fox-like face had narrowed into a sleek muzzle, and a pair of mustache-like tufts now framed its face. Kadabra's shoulders were covered in brown, armor-like pads, and its tail had grown thick and ringed. Most notably, it now clutched a spoon in one hand—a sign of its enhanced psychic abilities.
The biggest change, however, was in Kadabra's demeanor. Gone was the sleepy, sluggish Abra. In its place stood a calm, confident Pokémon, exuding a sense of reliability.
"Congratulations, Kadabra," Tyson said, extending a hand. Pride swelled in him as he witnessed his Pokémon grow stronger.
Kadabra grasped Tyson's hand in return, its expression brimming with energy and determination. It could feel its newfound power coursing through its body, and for the first time, Kadabra felt an urge to battle—an eagerness to test its strength.
Tyson opened his system interface to check Kadabra's updated stats:
Pokémon: Kadabra
Gender: Male
Ability: Inner Focus
Strength: Competent Level
Moves: Teleport, Kinesis, Disable, Confusion, Reflect, Psybeam
Egg Move: Ally Switch
"Don't worry, Kadabra," Tyson said with a smile. "You'll get your chance to battle soon enough. Let's find the right opponent so you can adjust to your new strength."
Kadabra nodded, already looking forward to the challenge.
Meanwhile, Eevee's ears perked up with excitement. With Kadabra now taking on battles, Eevee saw an opportunity to finally relax. While Charmeleon and Kadabra would take the lead in fighting wild Pokémon, Eevee could look forward to more leisurely training sessions.
Tyson chuckled, noticing Eevee's antics. "Don't get too comfortable, Eevee. You'll still have plenty of training to do."
As the team prepared to move on, Tyson's excitement matched Kadabra's. Together, they continued their trek up Moon View Mountain, ready to face new challenges. Soon enough, Tyson's system detected a group of Geodude, including one with Competent Level strength.
"Alright, team, listen up!" Tyson called. "Charmeleon, Eevee, you'll handle the two excellent-level Geodude. Kadabra, the remaining Competent Level Geodude is yours. Let's make this a clean battle."
With a determined shout, the team sprang into action. Charmeleon unleashed Dragon Breath, Eevee fired off Swift, and Kadabra readied itself for its first battle as an evolved Pokémon.
The clash on Moon View Mountain had only just begun.
