Chapter 142: Infernape Is Gone
After sitting outside for a while, Angie saw that it was getting late and decided to head back to his room with his Pokémon to sleep.
As Diancie was walking into the room, Angie called out to it, "Diancie, why did you suddenly Mega Evolve today?"
After all, he didn't have a Key Stone, and Diancie didn't have a Mega Stone.
Diancie shook its head. "I don't know. I just felt like there was some kind of energy inside me that wanted to surge out. I tried to respond to that power, and then I Mega Evolved."
If Angie hadn't pointed it out, Diancie wouldn't have even realized that it was a Mega Evolution.
Hearing this, Angie fell into deep thought. After a long while, he said, "Alright, it's late. Let's talk more about it tomorrow."
Diancie nodded and replied, "Okay, goodnight, Angie."
"Goodnight, Diancie," Angie said.
After returning to his room, Angie washed up and was about to undress for bed when he suddenly felt the diamond he had placed in the pocket near his chest.
Taking the diamond out, he was about to place it on the bedside table when he noticed an unusual glimmer within it.
Curious, he brought it closer to his eyes and saw a faint swirl of pink and yellow-white patterns in the center of the diamond.
This is...
Startled, Angie quickly held the diamond up to the light. Under the illumination, the spiral pattern inside became even more distinct.
Isn't this… Diancie's Mega Stone?
Angie was stunned.
How could a diamond created by Diancie suddenly turn into a Mega Stone? Would this diamond disappear like the others?
After much thought, Angie decided to wait until tomorrow to see what would happen. Normally, diamonds created by Diancie wouldn't last until the next day.
He placed the diamond on the table, pulled the blanket over himself, and turned off the lights to sleep.
The next morning, Munchlax was still half-asleep, vaguely hearing someone calling its name.
Suddenly, it jolted awake, sitting up abruptly.
"Munchlax~!"
Master! It's waiting for Master to come home!
But as it looked at the bright daylight outside, it froze. Why was it so bright? And why was it in its own room?
"Munchlax, still groggy? It's time to get up and train!"
Just then, Angie's voice rang in its ears.
"Munchlax~"
Master, you're back!
Munchlax lunged into Angie's arms.
Angie hugged it and laughed, saying, "I came back last night!"
"Munchlax~"
Last night?
At that moment, Munchlax finally woke up fully and lifted its head to look at its master with a dissatisfied expression.
"Munchlax~ Munchlax~"
Master, why didn't you wake me up when you came back?
Angie tapped its forehead lightly. "You were sleeping so soundly. How could I bear to wake you up?"
"Munchlax~"
Hehe~
Munchlax covered its forehead and laughed foolishly.
Angie pinched its chubby cheeks and said, "Alright, get up now. It's time for training."
"Munchlax~!"
Munchlax immediately jumped off the bed and dashed to the bathroom to freshen up. After washing up, it quickly changed out of its pajamas and nightcap, then happily held Angie's hand, heading off to train together.
Before long, the sounds of Pokémon training filled the grass in front of Angie's house. The voices of Drizzile and Pawmi could be heard as they trained alongside Angie, while Lairon and Croconaw trained hard under Metagross's supervision.
After the training session, Angie who is drenched in sweat, returned home to find Diancie waiting at the door.
Diancie handed him a towel and said, "Shall we go?"
Angie nodded as he wiped his sweat, then followed Diancie to the fifth floor of their secret fortress.
By then, the Water-type Pokémon living on the fifth floor had already left. Angie and Diancie exchanged glances.
"Let's begin!" Angie said, taking out the diamond.
Despite the passage of an entire night, the diamond hadn't disappeared.
Diancie nodded, took a deep breath, and stepped forward. Extending its hands, a brilliant light erupted simultaneously from its body and the diamond in Angie's hand.
Within the glow, Diancie Mega Evolved once more. At the same time, a massive diamond slowly formed in the air, surrounded by concentrated Fairy-type and Rock-type energy, just as it had been the previous night at the amusement park.
With a hum, the sacred diamond fully formed and was absorbed into the energy core of the secret fortress.
The energy core slowly closed, encapsulating the sacred diamond. Another hum followed, and a thick pink beam of light shot out from the top of the energy core, piercing through the fifth floor's ceiling.
An interface appeared on the ceiling, perfectly fitting the energy core's beam. Instantly, pink patterns began spreading outward from the interface.
"Is it done?" Angie asked.
"It's done," Diancie replied with a nod. "From now on, this diamond will supply all the energy for our home."
As Diancie finished speaking, it reverted from its Mega Evolution form, clearly exhausted from the effort of creating the sacred diamond.
Seeing this, Angie quickly stepped forward to support it.
"Are you alright?"
Diancie shook its head. "I'm fine. I just need some rest."
"Let's go back, then," Angie said.
Diancie nodded again.
After escorting Diancie back to its room to rest, Angie took a quick shower and then hurriedly left with Drizzile and the others for work at Munchlax's Home.
Before leaving, he instructed Munchlax to make something delicious for Diancie.
Not long after Angie left, Infernape woke up.
Opening its eyes, it found itself lying on a soft bed, covered with a fluffy blanket. The sky outside was a vibrant blue, and joyful Pokémon sounds occasionally drifted in through the window.
Where is this place?
It tried to sit up but was met with intense pain, as if every bone in its body had been broken.
Just then, the door opened, and Magearna walked in while carrying food, medicine, and water.
"Magearna~"
You're awake!
Seeing that Infernape had regained consciousness, Magearna was overjoyed.
However, Infernape's gaze at Magearna was full of wariness. It struggled to get up, but Magearna hurried forward to stop it.
"Magearna~"
You're seriously injured. You can't get up yet.
"Infernape~ Infernape~"
Where is this place?
Infernape asked, its tone cautious.
Magearna placed the items it was carrying on the bedside table and then reached out to help Infernape sit up. Although Infernape wanted to resist, the overwhelming pain throughout its body left it unable to fight back.
"Magearna~ Magearna~"
This is the Nebel Plateau. It's a very safe place. Focus on recovering. You don't need to worry about anything else.
"Infernape~?"
Nebel Plateau?
Infernape's face was filled with confusion.
"Magerna~ Magearna~"
Yes, do you remember the commotion you caused last night in Azoth Kingdom? It was quite the scene—you even made the news.
Hearing Magearna's words, Infernape fell silent, lost in thought.
"Magearna~ Magearna~"
I heard everything from Angie. The criminal group that persecuted you has been completely apprehended, and the Pokémon who were also victims have been rescued.
Hearing this, Infernape felt a wave of relief wash over it. It was good that everyone had been saved.
As Magearna spoke, she placed a bowl of porridge carefully prepared by Munchlax in front of Infernape.
"Eat up."
Infernape stared at the steaming bowl of porridge, momentarily dazed, and didn't reach out to take it.
Magearna stubbornly held the bowl out, her expression serious, as if silently saying, If you don't eat, I won't put it down.
Smelling the fragrant aroma of the porridge and looking at Magearna's resolute face, Infernape finally took the bowl and began eating in large mouthfuls.
It was famished, having gone an entire day and night without eating, and the exertion from last night's commotion had left it completely drained.
Soon, the bowl was empty. Magearna approached, handing Infernape some pills and water. "These are for your injuries. Take them."
Since it had already eaten, Infernape didn't resist the medicine. It gulped down the pills and water in one go.
Satisfied, Magearna nodded, cleaned up, and said, "Rest well. If you need anything, just call for me."
With that, she left with the dishes.
Perhaps due to the medicine, Infernape soon felt drowsy again and drifted back into sleep.
About an hour later, Infernape woke up again feeling significantly better, likely thanks to the medication. It got out of bed and wandered to the balcony, drawn by the sound of laughter outside.
From the balcony, it saw a vast grassland stretching to the horizon, dotted with Pokémon running, playing, and frolicking. Occasionally, Altaria and Talonflame soared across the sky.
In the distance, a massive lake surrounded by flower fields and orchards created a picturesque, idyllic scene.
"Spritzee~ Spritzee~"
At that moment, a Spritzee fluttered down onto the railing in front of Infernape, tilting its head and curiously examining it.
"Spritzee~ Spritzee~"
Are you the Pokémon Angie brought back?
Word of Infernape's arrival had already spread across the Nebel Plateau. Everyone knew that Angie had brought back a severely injured Pokémon last night.
"Infernape~?"
Angie?
When Magearna mentioned Angie earlier, Infernape had been too preoccupied with the news to pay attention. Now, hearing the name again from Spritzee, it realized it might belong to a human.
"Spritzee~ Spritzee~"
Yes, Angie is the one who brought you here. This is his home.
"Infernape~?"
A human?
Infernape finally confirmed that Angie was a human and instantly grew agitated. The surge of emotions caused its injuries to flare up, and it winced in pain.
Seeing Infernape's twisted expression, Spritzee asked worriedly.
"Spritzee~ Spritzee~"
Are you okay?
Ignoring Spritzee, Infernape tried to climb over the railing, determined to leave this place. It had no intention of staying in a human's home.
But before it could act, the intense pain sent it collapsing to the ground.
"Spritzee~ Spritzee~"
You need to rest!
Spritzee grabbed Infernape's shoulder with its tiny paws, trying to lift it back to the bed. But how could it possibly carry Infernape? Despite its best efforts, the Pokémon didn't budge an inch.
Out of options, Spritzee turned around and called out loudly toward the outside.
"Spritzee~ Spritzee~~"
Hearing the cry, a Meowstic and Espurr quickly arrived. Their eyes glowed as they clasped hands, using psychic power to lift Infernape and gently place it back on the bed.
Soon, Magearna arrived, alerted by the commotion. She scolded Infernape, "Didn't I tell you to rest? Why are you being so reckless? This makes me angry!"
Weakly, Infernape asked, "Why didn't you tell me this was a human's home?"
Magearna tilted her head, puzzled. "What difference does it make?"
Infernape's face contorted with rage. "Humans! They're despicable!"
It originally lived carefree in a dense forest, but because of human selfishness, it had to leave its home and endured endless suffering.
Feeling agitated again, it accidentally tugged at its wounds, wincing sharply in pain.
Hearing this, Magearna showed a disapproving expression and said, "That only means the humans you encountered were bad, but that doesn't mean all humans are bad! At least Angie isn't a bad person, right? Angie even saved you! Think about it, if Angie hadn't stopped your rampage, would you still be lying here healing so peacefully?"
Hearing Magearna's words, the Infernape lowered its head, lost in thought.
"Please stay here and recover properly, alright? Once you're healed, no matter where you want to go, Angie won't stop you," Magearna added.
Perhaps Magearna's words had an effect, as the Infernape truly stopped causing trouble in the following days. It quietly stayed in bed to heal, ate obediently when Magearna brought food, and never missed a dose of medicine. It was exceptionally well-behaved.
Its injuries were severe, requiring medication at regular intervals. Its physical strength was also heavily drained, and due to its condition, it needed to eat small, frequent meals.
When Angie returned home at noon, he initially intended to check on the Infernape. However, upon learning from Magearna about its animosity toward humans, he decided against it.
"Let it have some quiet time to itself," he thought.
At noon, Magearna brought the Infernape another meal and some medicine.
She set up a small table over the Infernape's bed and placed a variety of delicious dishes on it.
"Eat up; Angie made all of this especially for you," Magearna said.
Staring at the fragrant food before it, the Infernape suddenly asked, "Is the one who saved me named Angie?"
Magearna smiled and replied, "Yes, that's right!"
After asking, the Infernape said no more. It silently finished the meal, took its medicine, and rested.
In the days that followed, the Infernape continued to eat meals personally prepared by Angie every day. Though it had never met Angie since arriving in Nebel Plateau, it often heard this name from Magearna and stories related to him.
Gradually, the Infernape found itself becoming curious about this human named Angie.
Days passed, and under Magearna's meticulous care, the Infernape finally regained the ability to walk around. While it still couldn't engage in intense activity, it no longer experienced unbearable pain with every movement.
Nurse Joy's medicine had proven to be quite effective.
Once it could move around, the Infernape's favorite activity became sitting on Angie's rooftop, quietly observing the Nebel Plateau.
Eventually, it finally caught sight of the human it had grown curious about, though only from a distance.
Every morning, it would see that human walking on the grass outside his home with a group of Pokémon. Every Pokémon that saw him greeted him warmly.
Then, the human would disappear for a while, only to return around noon. According to Spritzee, Swablu, and Fletchinder, who often visited the Infernape, he left to earn money in Azoth Kingdom to support everyone.
The Infernape couldn't understand why a human would willingly work so hard just to take care of so many Pokémon.
But reality proved otherwise. Every evening, it witnessed countless Pokémon gathering at the door for dinner.
The Infernape had never seen such a sight. The Pokémon laughed and chatted as they ate, their joyful expressions shining brightly.
The more it observed, the more curious it became about this human. Without realizing it, its gaze lingered on him longer and longer.
It found itself smiling unconsciously while watching him play with other Pokémon, only to quickly frown in annoyance when it realized.
It could spend hours watching him sunbathe with Munchlax, Pawmi, and Drizzile on the grass, completely losing track of time.
It even grew worried when he didn't return home on time, wondering if he had encountered some trouble.
Occasionally, Angie would notice the Infernape watching him and wave with a bright smile. Each time, the Infernape would scramble off the rooftop, jump onto the balcony, and hide inside.
Over time, the Infernape gradually realized that the human named Angie was truly adored and respected by all the Pokémon in Nebel Plateau.
This was completely different from the humans it had known.
One day, Angie received a call from Kimia.
On the phone, Kimia informed Angie that most employers connected to that "facility" had been arrested, and the abused Pokémon were being treated and sent to a Pokémon Nursery where they would no longer face harm.
She was calling to arrange for the Infernape to be taken to the Pokémon Nursery.
Angie agreed.
According to their arrangement, Kimia would arrive at Nebel Plateau in an hour.
After ending the call, Angie glanced at the rooftop. As expected, the Infernape was there, lost in thought.
After some consideration, he called Spritzee over and told it about Kimia's plan to take the Infernape. He asked Spritzee to relay the news.
"Spritzee~"
Spritzee nodded, flapping its wings as it flew to the Infernape and landed on its shoulder.
After a series of gestures from Spritzee, Angie saw the Infernape agilely jump down from the rooftop and rush into its room.
An hour later, Kimia arrived as scheduled.
Disembarking from her flying vehicle, she greeted Angie, "Your Highness, thank you for taking care of the Infernape."
Angie shook his head. "It was nothing. Let's go see the Infernape."
"Alright," Kimia nodded.
After entering the house, Angie said to Magearna, "Magearna, could you please ask the Infernape to come down? The person here to take it has arrived."
"Magearna~"
Magearna nodded and headed upstairs to the third floor.
But a few minutes later, Magearna hurriedly came back down, exclaiming in alarm.
"Magearna~ Magearna~!"
Something's wrong—the Infernape is gone!
