Later, at 3:18 p.m., at the Pokémon Center, while waiting for his Pokémon to be fully healed up, Rico was on the sofa writing in his journal, detailing about his victory against Simon the gym leader.

And then, suddenly, Simon came and called him. Upon hearing that, Rico looked at him and replied, "Oh, you must be the gym leader, right?"

"Yes, and I'm here just to ask you some questions," Simon responded back.

"Oh, sure."

Simon then walked to the sofa and sat next to Rico.

"Well, I forgot to ask you your name," Simon said to him.

"M-My name is Rico Cruz of Kawayan City, on the island of Navarre," Rico replied back with stammering and stuttering.

"Nice to meet you, Rico. I'm Simon Nate, I'm the gym leader of the Electric-type gym in Kidlat City. Are you going to participate in the Philas League?"

"Yes, I am."

"I see. Well, I recommended on taking on the gym in the town of Labuyo."

"Oh really? That's the next gym I'm going?"

Simon then smiled. "Yes."

"Thank you so much."

"You're welcome."

This follows with a short silence.

While Simon is laying down on the sofa, Rico was researching about how to get to Labuyo Town. He then found out that he can take a ferry from Kidlat City to a town called Bukas, then either going on foot or taking a bus to Labuyo. And the cost was decent as well.

Simon then got up and asked Rico what he was doing.

"Oh, I'm searching how to get to Labuyo," answered Rico back.

"I see. Well, you can take a ferry from here to a town called Bukas, then go on foot to get to Labuyo."

"I already know that. I'll just rest up here in this city before taking the ferry."

"Okay, the ferry's schedules are 4:15 p.m., 6:45 p.m., and 9:00 p.m. There are also morning schedules as well, starting at 1:45 a.m."

"I see. Thanks. I'll take the morning ones instead."

"That will be your choice after all."

Simon then stand up, and left the Pokémon Center while saying, "Well, good luck in your journey."

"Okay, thanks, bye," Rico wavered him goodbye.

And then, a sound chimed in, calling Rico. Upon hearing that, Rico stand up, stretch up for a bit, and walked up to Nurse Joy's counter. There Nurse Joy presented Rico with his Poké Balls containing his Pokémon while saying, "Here's your Pokémon."

Receiving them, Rico bowed for a few seconds and responded, "Thank you so much."

Nurse Joy then bowed back for a few seconds, and replied, "You're welcome, kid. Come again."

With that, Rico went up to the sofa, grabbed his belongings, and left the Pokémon Center to stay at a hotel.

Later, at 4:44 p.m., Rico found a cheap hotel with a restaurant at the first floor, and he entered in. In the lobby, Rico made a request to the receptionist for a room for the night.

"Okay, when are leaving by tomorrow?" the receptionist asked him.

"I think at 4 in the morning," Rico replied back positively.

"I see. Okay then. That'll be 50 Poké Dollars."

In response to that, Rico get his wallet from his backpack, get some coins, and give it to the receptionist.

"Okay, thanks," the receptionist responded back as she receives the money. She then get the key to Rico's room and give it to Rico while saying, "Enjoy your stay here."

Receiving the said room key, Rico replied back, "Thank you so much."

The receptionist then smiled. "You're welcome. Your room is at the 3rd floor.

With that, Rico and his team went to take the stairs to the third floor of the building. Not long after, they found their hotel room, and unlocked the door using the key, and they went in. Rico then turned on the lights, revealing a very nice and clean room for one. There is a bed complete with bedsheets, pillows, and a blanket, a desk with drawers, a chair, and a lamp, a mini fridge, a wardrobe, a bathroom complete with a shower and toilet, a flatscreen TV, and a balcony overlooking the city.

Rico and his team got delighted by it, and Rico eventually put his backpack on the desk and lay down on the bed, exhausted from the day of journeying and battling a gym.

"Finally! I could rest and relax," he commented.

Riolu and Starly then responded with a bit of exhaustion.

Later, at 7 in the evening, all of them went downstairs at the hotel restaurant to eat dinner. Their dinner is Yellow Curry, Mashed Potatoes, and Green Salad. The drinks, in order to celebrate Rico's achievement, are Iced Tea. Rico's team is eating their special food nearby while their Trainer is eating his dinner.

And as he eats, Rico suddenly noticed Shion eating with stress and anger. She was Rico's childhood friend, so Rico stand up, walked to her table, and asked, "What's wrong, Shion?" He didn't even asked her if she was on a journey due to his concern for her well-being.

Shion heard this, and looked at him and replied back, "Rico? What are you doing here?"

"No, what are you doing here? Are you on a journey or something? I am, too."

"No! It's none of your business, so go away!"

But, Rico won't leave, and he asked the same, first question again.

"Ugh, I lost against that gym leader," Shion sheepishly replied back. "He's way too strong for me to handle. How about you?"

Rico then smiled. "I won in just one try."

This response from the brown-haired boy shocks Shion a lot.

"What? But, how?"

"I think I was lucky."

"I can't believe that. You're so ahead of me."

Confused by the last sentence, Rico responded, "What do you mean by that?"

Surprised by it, Shion turned away a bit, and told him to forget about the last part.

"Oh, okay then," Rico replied plainly.

And so, Rico decided to move to Shion's table with his meal out of concern for her well-being.

"So, are you in a journey?" he asked her while eating.

"Well, yeah, I am," Shion sarcastically replied back. "I'm participating in the Philas League."

"Wow, me too as well."

"Yeah, and I will win against you. You'll see."

"Oh, yeah? I'll go ahead of you."

This turns to a rivalry between them, but it went down when they saw that they're making the people around them uncomfortable. Noticing this, they apologized to them, but the rivalry continues.

Later, at 8:20 p.m., Rico was at the balcony talking to his parents on the phone, telling them that he had received his first gym badge from Simon.

"Wow, congratulations, son," Lucas commented in positive delight.

"You should celebrate that," Rosario added.

"Yeah, I did," Rico responded back positively.

"By the way, Rico," Lucas said to him, "I heard that Shion also started her journey before you."

"Oh, really?" Rico asked back.

"Yes, and she was possibly at Kidlat City."

"Oh, we meet up at the hotel restaurant."

"Okay then. You two had a chat?"

Rico then nodded. "Yes."

"I see," Lucas responded to this. "Well, good luck in your journey. I had work to do tomorrow."

"Okay, good night."

"Good night and be safe."

He and Rico then ended their conversation. Rico then returned back inside and slide the door closed.
