Pokemon: I Transmigrated Twice

Chapter 118: Pokemon: I Transmigrated Twice [118]

In this era, information about Legendary Pokémon, also known as Mythical Pokémon, is incredibly rare.

After all, when Ash first started his journey, even the Pokédex didn't have data on Ho-Oh. Later, when Ash participated in the Indigo League, the Indigo Plateau, as the league headquarters, used Moltres' flame for the event. By the time Ash competed in the Johto League Silver Conference, however, the opening ceremony had already switched to Ho-Oh's flame.

Stephen speculated that during Ash's journey, the Pokémon League must have confirmed Ho-Oh's existence and upgraded the opening ceremony's sacred flame accordingly.

In contrast to certain Legendary Pokémon like Kyurem, who stays hidden in its lair, or some Legendary Pokémon remain unknown due to their reclusive nature. Celebi, however, is far more famous.

Like Mew, Celebi doesn't stay put in one location. It has a mischievous, roaming nature and loves to wander around. Sightings of Celebi have been reported in various places over the past decade, making it one of the most well-known Legendary Pokémon.

"Are they targeting Celebi?!"

Lance's eyes hardened.

Criminal organizations targeting Legendary Pokémon were nothing new, but to date, no one had ever succeeded.

"Shut up!"

Elena slapped Napus on the back of the head from behind. She knew his brain didn't function well, but she didn't expect him to be this stupid—he blurted out their mission objective!

"Is Joker not here?"

Elena glanced at the masked Karen and Will standing opposite them, silently pondering. Then she called out to the person standing behind her:

"Hey, Mr. Kodai, are you sure Celebi will show up?"

They had received Kodai's call and were hired to capture Celebi. Well, hired wasn't entirely accurate; it was more of a mutual exploitation.

Kodai, with one hand in his pocket, smirked coldly:

"Of course. If you can catch Celebi, you can have it. I only want something else."

Through his ability to foresee the future, he had already seen it—a Celebi would travel through a time tunnel from the past or the future and arrive in this forest.

The location was right here in this grove of oak trees.

"Sis, is this guy crazy? If he knows Celebi will show up, why doesn't he catch it himself? Why call us?"

If Kodai had reliable intel about Celebi's appearance, why wouldn't he take action himself? Instead, he hired them, the Shadows, and even promised to give Celebi to them if the mission succeeded.

Wouldn't that mean Kodai gained nothing from the operation?

Just as Elena was about to respond, a beam of dark energy shot toward them—it was Karen making her move!

Her Houndoom had unleashed a Dark Pulse, and its target was Kodai!

"Hey, Shadows!"

Kodai's expression darkened as he shouted sharply.

"Tch… Gardevoir!"

Elena clicked her tongue and summoned her Gardevoir.

The psychic queen clasped her hands together, forming a pale pink energy sphere. In the next moment, she pushed her hands outward, and the pink energy ball shot forth, rapidly expanding mid-flight.

It was the Fairy-type move, Moonblast!

Dark Pulse VS Moonblast!

The dark energy surged forward, but the Moonblast intercepted it from the side. The two forces collided mid-air, exploding with a violent shockwave that sent gusts of wind sweeping through the forest.

"Heh… As always, the future has been altered."

Kodai wiped the sweat from the side of his face. Though he maintained a smile, his pupils trembled uncontrollably.

There was a reason Kodai had hired the Shadows. In the fragments of the future he had seen, besides witnessing Celebi's arrival in this forest, he also saw… his death.

He would be killed by the masked girl's Houndoom.

To prevent this future, Kodai had no choice but to hire powerful bodyguards.

As for why he didn't seek help from the Unova League's experts?

Well, after the incident in the Lostlorn Forest, Alder and the others had already started to suspect that Kodai wasn't on the up-and-up. If he voluntarily approached them now, wouldn't that be suicide?

Moreover, capturing Celebi was something he absolutely couldn't let the Unova League know about.

After much deliberation, the Shadows were his only option.

"Boss, if this drags on too long, the Indigo League might show up."

Goone reminded Kodi, glancing at Karen and Will, who were locked in battle with the Shadows.

"Understood. Begin."

Kodai nodded grimly.

Upon hearing this, Goone immediately ordered the grunts Kodai had brought from Unova: "Move out!"

The core employees of Kodai's network company threw their Poké Balls, summoning Pokémon from the Unova region such as Heatmor and Bisharp.

At their command, the Bisharp's arms gleamed with metallic light as they swung their bladed hands like swords, indiscriminately hacking at the towering trees around them.

The oak grove, famous for its massive trees that even blocked out sunlight, was a small tourist attraction in the Johto region.

One tree after another began to fall. Pokémon living in the trees, mostly Flying- and Bug-types fled in panic.

But it didn't stop there.

While the Bisharp focused on cutting down trees, the Heatmor unleashed flamethrowers, setting the lush greenery ablaze.

In less than thirty seconds, the once-vibrant forest had turned into a raging inferno.

"Come out, Celebi! Aren't you supposed to be the Guardian of the Forest? Seeing the forest destroyed like this, shouldn't you show yourself to stop me?!"

Kodai shouted arrogantly.

Observing this scene from a distance, Stephen couldn't help but admit that while this tactic was despicable, it was highly effective. For a soft-hearted Legendary Pokémon like Celebi, moral coercion worked almost every time.

"Damn it!"

With a loud curse, a figure burst out from the nearby bushes.

It wasn't Celebi, but Lance, who had finally lost his patience.

Unable to bear Kodai's antics any longer, he unleashed a Dragon Pulse straight at him!

But just based on his earlier words and current actions, Lance had only one thought in his mind at this moment: "You are dead!"

This Dragonite, which seemed to have appeared out of nowhere, startled both Kodai's and the Shadow Organization's people.

"Gardevoir!"

Elena shouted.

The Gardevoir, who had been battling Houndoom alongside Karen, teleported instantly to block in front of Kodai.

"Foolish. Die."

 Lance scoffed.

With Gardevoir's frail-looking frame, how could it possibly withstand an attack from my Dragonite?

Boom—!

Dragon Pulse detonated directly on Gardevoir's body, spreading a violent surge of energy.

The shockwave sent Kodai tumbling to the ground.

However, when the dust settled, and everyone could see clearly, they found that the Gardevoir was still standing there, as immovable as a mountain.

"How is this possible!?"

 Lance's expression changed drastically.

"Oh... now that I think about it, the Fairy type hasn't been officially cataloged by the League yet," Stephen recalled something.

But in the original anime, Lance had used Dragon-type moves against Gardevoir before.

Was this scene a recreation of that iconic moment?

"Just as I expected."

 Elena smirked.

Her Gardevoir had recently awakened a new attribute distinct from its Psychic type. That pink energy orb earlier was proof of it.

Not only that, but Elena also discovered that this new attribute had an overwhelming advantage against Dragon-types.

If that was the case, there was a strong possibility that this power also had resistance to Dragon-type moves.

But Elena hadn't expected the effect to be this powerful—it wasn't just resistance. It was complete immunity!

It was like a Ground-type Pokémon going up against an Electric-type move!

"Gardevoir, use that move!"

Hearing her trainer's command, Gardevoir brought her hands together, gathering the Moonblast.

Elena hadn't given this move a name yet, so she simply referred to it as that move.

High in the sky, Dragonite's expression turned grave.

It could sense the dangerous aura emanating from the pink energy orb.

It was no less threatening than the Ice-type moves it dreaded.

Gardevoir thrust its hands forward, unleashing the Moonblast once again.

"Lapras, use Blizzard!"

A fierce snowstorm swept in from the side, instantly forming a miniature icy mountain that acted as a barrier, blocking the incoming Moonblast.

The sudden Blizzard drew everyone's attention.

"Damn it!"

Lorelei!

 Kodai's expression changed dramatically.

In the future visions he had seen, these two weren't supposed to be here!

What's worse, his earlier actions had been noticed.

If Lance and Lorelei reported his behavior to the League, he would become a wanted criminal, hunted everywhere.

Everything he currently had would turn to dust.

At this moment, Kodai had only one thought in his mind: "They cannot be allowed to leave alive!"

But… Kodai looked around.

He realized that taking down Lance and Lorelei wasn't going to be an easy task.

Given the current battle strength of the Shadow Organization, even defeating Joker's two allies was proving difficult, let alone dealing with the arrival of Lance and Lorelei.

"Boss, we absolutely cannot let Lance and Lorelei leave alive,"

 Goone whispered into Kodai's ear.

"But with our current strength, do you think we can take them down?"

 Kodai frowned and asked.

Goone thought for a moment, then suddenly turned and shouted toward Karen and Will:

"Hey! You two over there!"

The two, who were about to finish off Napus's Primeape and Elena's newly summoned Altaria, paused and looked over at Goone.

"How about a temporary truce? Lance and Lorelei are with the League; they're your enemies too, aren't they? How about we join forces to take them down first?"

 Goone shouted.

As for Stephen, who was standing far in the back, he was completely ignored.

After all, in most people's eyes, Stephen was just a scientist with no real combat ability.

Karen and Will frowned.

They didn't take Kodai's weak underlings seriously at all.

But if the Shadow Organization and those two joined forces, things would indeed get tricky.

Not to mention Joker was still unaccounted for.

Karen and Will subtly glanced toward Stephen in the far back.

With just one look from Stephen, they immediately understood his stance.

Karen smirked coldly, "I'm not letting someone who can see the future live."

The next second, Karen pulled out a new Poké Ball.

Honchkrow emerged from the ball and began battling Elena's Altaria.

"See the future!?"

Lance and Lorelei's expressions shifted again upon hearing those words.

What was going on now?

"Shell, use Surf! Dumb, Psychic!"

Will seized the moment and issued his commands.

Kodai's abilities were indeed troublesome. Today, he absolutely couldn't be allowed to escape alive!

The Shellder on Slowbro's tail exerted its power, causing a massive wave to rise beneath it.

The wave grew larger and larger until it became a towering 7-8 meter-high tsunami.

At the front of the wave, Slowbro used its Psychic powers to split the wave into three parts.

The water surged forward like three giant serpents, bypassing the minor obstacles, and headed straight for Kodai, who was protected in the rear by the Shadow Organization and his underlings.

Kodai's face turned pale.

His Mismagius quickly moved forward, unleashing a wide-range Thunderbolt in an attempt to block the attack.

But despite the unfavorable type of matchup, the Surf easily overpowered the Thunderbolt upon collision, swallowing it effortlessly.

The Pokémon on both sides weren't even on the same level!

Mismagius lasted less than five seconds before being consumed by the Surf.

It had to be said—Pokémon are truly loyal creatures.

Even when their trainer is scum.

"Die, you bastard!"

 Will shouted.

"Freezing Beam!"

A surging silver-white beam shot forth, instantly freezing the three water snakes in place.

Will turned his head with an expression like he'd seen a ghost.

He looked at Lorelei and her Lapras, who had just unleashed the freezing beam, and couldn't hold back his outburst:

"You big-breasted woman! What's wrong with you?!"

He was furious. "That guy was trying to kill the two of you just now! Why would you save him?!"

Lorelei paid no attention to Will's impolite choice of words. Instead, she coldly said to Lance:

"Lance, don't let Kodai die. He probably knows a lot of things we don't."

Lorelei wanted to kill Kodai. Not only because he had just tried to kill her, but, more importantly, because he had caused harm to the forest and the innocent Pokémon living in it.

That alone was enough justification for Lorelei to freeze him into an ice sculpture.

But Lorelei was more composed than Lance in situations like this. Based on everything she had heard from these people so far, she could tell there was likely some secret behind all this that the Pokémon League was unaware of.

It was necessary to capture Kodai and interrogate him thoroughly, especially to figure out what this Vision of the Future thing was.

Lance, hearing this, also found her reasoning convincing.

"You hold these people off. I'll go capture him!"

They could extract the secrets from Kodai before deciding whether to finish him off.

With that, Lance leaped onto Dragonite's back and soared over the battlefield, heading straight for Kodai.

"He's not yours for the taking!"

Elena's expression changed drastically. Celebi was still out of her reach—there was no way she could let Kodai be captured by Lance.

Karen shared the same sentiment. If Kodai ended up in the League's prison, it would be even harder to kill him.

"Lapras!"

Lorelei sent out her most reliable partner to block the path of Gardevoir and Houndoom, who were protecting Karen and Elena.

The more the Joker members and the Shadows acted this way, the more it proved how important Kodai was. Lorelei was now certain Kodai had to be dealt with by her and Lance.

Lapras faced off against both Gardevoir and Houndoom, holding them back for the time being.

"Stephen, stay back."

Lorelei turned her head to remind Stephen behind her.

"Move aside!"

 Elena shouted angrily.

Suddenly, Gardevoir's aura underwent a dramatic transformation. The Thunderbolt attack it unleashed now was far stronger than before.

Zap!

In the next moment, Gardevoir's Thunderbolt, which had initially been losing to Lapras's Ice Beam, suddenly overpowered it.

"Woooo!"

Lapras let out a pained cry as it was struck by the super-effective Thunderbolt.

"What?!"

Lorelei, who had just turned her head back after warning Stephen, was shocked to see her Lapras being overwhelmed by the attack.

How was this possible?!

Karen and Elena were equally stunned. For a Pokémon to suddenly grow this much stronger—it was something they'd seen before.

In Stephen's eyes, through the black-framed glasses on his nose, he could see that Gardevoir's body was now engulfed in ominous black flames.

It was the same phenomenon he had observed half a year ago with Altair, the gym leader of Olivine City, and his Salamence.

Dark Power!

"The mystery is solved now."

 Stephen smirked, adjusting his glasses.

These weren't just ordinary glasses—they were a device Stephen had meticulously crafted, based on fragments of Altair's dark sunglasses he had recovered from Olivine Gym. They had the same effect as Altair's sunglasses.

"Surrender quietly!"

Meanwhile, Lance, using the time Lorelei had bought, had reached Kodai. Dragonite, massive and muscular, reached out to grab Kodai like a chick.

"Go."

 Stephen silently mouthed.

"Roar?!"

Just as Dragonite's claws were about to grab the terrified Kodai, it suddenly sensed an intense wave of danger.

Following its instincts, Dragonite activated Protect.

A translucent green shield enveloped its body.

Almost immediately after the shield appeared, a jagged silver beam shot straight at it—it was an Ice Beam!

"Who's there?!"

Lance turned to the direction the Ice Beam had come from and saw… a Glaceon. Around its neck, it wore a silver-white gem necklace glowing faintly.

"You..."

Lance's face darkened as he squinted toward the figure behind the Glaceon.

From behind a large tree emerged the person Lance had been yearning to catch.

"Joker!"

Everyone on the battlefield shouted the name in unison.

"Lance! Kodai's escaping!"

Stephen shouted a reminder from behind Lorelei.

Lance snapped out of it and looked ahead again to see Kodai already running away.

"You won't get away!"

Lance's face twisted in anger as he prepared to give chase.

However, just as Dragonite deactivated its Protect, the Glaceon charged forward.

"Get out of my way!"

Lance growled, and Dragonite's right arm ignited with fire, swinging a Fire Punch at Glaceon.

But as the punch landed, Glaceon's figure vanished like a mirage, leaving both Dragonite and Lance visibly shocked.

What was going on?!

The next moment, a yellow flash streaked across the battlefield.

A Jolteon appeared in front of Kodai, glaring at him menacingly.

"No… no…"

 Kodai stumbled backward in fear.

With a flick of Joker's wrist, Jolteon lowered its body, preparing to end Kodai's life.

But just as the killing blow was about to land, several icicles shot down from above, piercing Kodai's throat and heart with precision.

Who was it?!
