Pokémon: Day Bringer

Chapter 76: Elite Four Part 1

Inside Professor Oak's lab, the soft hum of various monitors and computers filled the room. The video call was set up, connecting professors from across the Pokémon world, each face popping up on the screen.

Professor Oak sighed deeply before addressing the call. "So, we found another one…"

Professor Elm's face filled the screen next. His expression was one of frustration and concern. "Yup, another Delta Pokémon. Arceus help us... how did this happen?"

Professor Sycamore leaned in, speaking with a touch of concern, but with the calm demeanor that made him so well-known in Kalos. "I've seen strange things in Kalos before, but this... it's unlike anything we've encountered. My theory is still the same—Team Rocket's involvement. When they captured the three legendary dogs, Ho-Oh, and Lugia... and when Haru and his team freed them, the energy released into the sky... it must have triggered something. Something we still don't understand."

Professor Juniper nodded in agreement. "The energy release was unlike anything we could have predicted. And Unova, unfortunately, couldn't provide help in time. We had our hands full here with our own incidents."

Professor Rowan, always a figure of quiet wisdom, leaned forward into the camera. "Yes, I've heard about that from Cynthia. It's still hard to fathom... that legendary Pokémon could be so deeply entwined with human actions. But what's clear is that this situation is escalating. From our records, Sinnoh has the highest number of Delta Pokémon—followed by Unova, then Kalos, and then the rest of the regions. We're managing, but it's hard to control."

The camera shifted slightly, showing Professor Kukui from Alola. He sighed, rubbing his temples. "And the public... well, they're starting to ask questions. We're trying to play it off as new regional Pokémon, but the Church of Arceus... they're starting to sniff around. It's only a matter of time before they make noise about all this. Explaining that five gods—the legendary Pokémon—are at the heart of it all is going to be impossible if they come down on us like a Snorlax."

Professor Oak crossed his arms, deep in thought. "We need to keep this under wraps. The Delta Pokémon are spreading faster than we expected. It's like they're trying to balance the scales of nature, but at what cost?"

Professor Sycamore raised an eyebrow. "And Haru? What's his role in all of this? I've heard rumors that he's connected to these events. His battle with Team Rocket, the energy surge… What if the key to understanding this lies with him?"

The conversation shifted, all eyes focusing on Professor Oke as he looked back at his own research notes. He then spoke, his voice solemn. "We'll have to keep a close eye on Haru. If he's connected to this, he may be the only one who can help us understand what's happening with these Pokémon... but he may also be in danger. We need to protect him, and prepare for the worst."

The video call ended with a sense of unresolved tension, as each professor was left to reflect on the growing crisis. Unbeknownst to them, the situation was already advancing beyond their control.

The Church of Arceus could become a central antagonist, possibly believing that the Delta Pokémon are a blasphemous twist on nature and must be eradicated. This could lead to a conflict between the established religious order and Haru's group, with the church's fanatical opposition to Delta Pokémon adding personal stakes to the story.

In a different place The battlefield was alive with the roaring cheers of the audience, fireworks bursting in the sky as the excitement reached its peak. The Johto Champion League had officially begun, and Haru was about to face the Elite Four. This was the moment everyone had been waiting for since the conclusion of the Johto League, where Haru's victory had left a lasting impression on trainers and spectators alike.

In the stands, Haru's friends and supporters were cheering loudly. Ash, Brock, Misty, Whitney, Rose, and Clair waved enthusiastically, their voices mixing with the cacophony of the crowd. Suicune, Raikou, and Entei, still in their human forms, stood among them, their presence regal yet supportive. Even Diamond, despite feeling slightly bitter over Ash's loss to Haru, joined the cheers, determined to support Haru in his new challenge.

This five-day event was unlike any other—a true test of endurance, strategy, and willpower. Each day would see Haru face one member of the Johto Elite Four, culminating in the final match against Lance, the Champion.

Haru stepped onto the battlefield with determination in his eyes. His first opponent stood before him, radiating confidence and mystery. The man had lilac hair that occasionally fell over his domino mask, adding to his enigmatic aura. His tailored suit gave him a polished appearance, but his energy and poise hinted at the strength he wielded.

The crowd hushed as the referee raised his microphone. "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the first match of the Johto Champion League! Today, we have the challenger, Ethan Haru Bit Harmonia, going up against the Psychic Specialist of the Elite Four—Will!"

The audience erupted in applause as Will struck a dramatic pose, exuding flair and energy. "Haru, I've been watching your journey closely. You've impressed many people, including myself. But now, it's time to see if you can rise to the challenge of the Elite Four. Are you ready?"

Haru nodded confidently. "I've come this far. I'm more than ready."

The referee continued. "The rules are simple: each trainer will use six Pokémon. The challenger is allowed substitutions, but the Elite Four members and the Champion are not. Let the battle begin!"

Will's eyes glowed faintly as he used his psychic powers to send out his first Pokémon. A Bronzong emerged onto the field, its metallic body shimmering under the stadium lights.

Haru smirked and reached for his own Poké Ball. "Alright, let's start this off strong. Go, Scizor!"

In a flash of light, Scizor appeared, its sleek red exoskeleton gleaming as it clacked its pincers menacingly. The crowd roared with excitement as the two Pokémon faced off, the tension palpable in the air.

Will's voice was calm yet commanding. "Bronzong, let's show them what we're made of. Start with Trick Room."

Haru's eyes narrowed. "We're not going to let you set up! Scizor, use U-Turn!"

Scizor darted forward with incredible speed, its pincers glowing as it struck Bronzong and quickly returned to its Poké Ball. Haru swiftly sent out his next choice—Houndoom.

Will raised an eyebrow, impressed by Haru's quick thinking. "A Fire-type, huh? Interesting. Bronzong, use Earthquake!"

Houndoom leapt into the air, avoiding the tremors with ease. Haru grinned. "Now, let's counter! Houndoom, use Flamethrower!"

A burst of flames erupted from Houndoom's mouth, engulfing Bronzong. The Psychic-Steel type let out a metallic groan as it fainted, the Trick Room strategy foiled before it could even begin.

The referee raised his flag. "Bronzong is unable to battle! Houndoom wins!"

The crowd erupted in cheers, the first victory of the match going to Haru. Will smiled, clearly unfazed. "Impressive, Haru. But let's see how you handle my next Pokémon."

He sent out his next choice—Xatu, the Mystic Pokémon, which hovered gracefully above the battlefield. The match was far from over, and Haru knew the challenges ahead would only grow tougher. But with his friends cheering him on and his determination burning bright, he was ready for whatever came next.

The battle had just begun, and the Johto Champion League was shaping up to be an unforgettable event.

Will's Xatu emerged onto the battlefield, its elegant form radiating psychic energy as it flapped its wings lightly, hovering in midair. The crowd's cheers heightened as the battle entered its next stage. Haru looked at his Houndoom, determination burning in his eyes.

"Houndoom, use Nasty Plot!" Haru commanded.

Houndoom growled lowly, its eyes glowing with a sinister light as its Special Attack sharply increased. A dark aura began to surround it, signaling its newfound power.

Will raised an eyebrow, a small smirk forming on his lips. "Interesting choice. Xatu, let's counter with Calm Mind!"

Xatu closed its eyes, its serene posture betraying the intensity of its focus as it boosted both its Special Attack and Special Defense. The crowd watched in awe as the battlefield's atmosphere grew increasingly tense.

Haru wasn't about to let Will gain the upper hand. "Now, Houndoom, Dark Pulse!"

Houndoom unleashed a powerful wave of dark energy that surged toward Xatu like a roaring tide. The attack hit Xatu head-on, sending it reeling backward as it struggled to maintain its flight. The crowd gasped at the sheer force of the attack.

Will, however, remained calm. "Xatu, recover quickly and use Psychic!"

Xatu steadied itself midair and released a wave of psychic energy that crashed into Houndoom. The attack was strong, but thanks to its type advantage, Houndoom managed to endure it.

Haru clenched his fist. "Houndoom, let's finish this! One more Dark Pulse!"

With a fierce howl, Houndoom unleashed another devastating wave of dark energy. This time, the attack overwhelmed Xatu completely, knocking it out as it fell to the ground.

The referee raised his flag. "Xatu is unable to battle! Houndoom wins!"

The crowd erupted into cheers once more, impressed by Haru's quick and decisive strategies. Will recalled his fainted Xatu, still smiling. "Well done, Haru. Your Houndoom is certainly formidable. But let's see how it handles this."

Will sent out his next Pokémon—a Jynx. The Ice/Psychic Pokémon twirled gracefully as it appeared on the battlefield, its eerie smile aimed directly at Houndoom.

Haru grinned. "Looks like the perfect matchup continues. Houndoom, use Flamethrower!"

But before Houndoom could launch its attack, Will gave his command. "Jynx, use Lovely Kiss!"

Jynx's hypnotic aura enveloped Houndoom, lulling it into a deep sleep. The tide of the battle was shifting once again as Haru prepared to adapt to this new challenge.

Haru then called back Houndoom. "Take a bit of rest, go out Scizor".

Scizor Landed and looked at Jynx, as then Haru spoke. "Use sword dance and follow up with a Bullet Punch".

The Scizor body then glowed, as she came behind Jynx, as then he used a Bunch of Bullet Punch as it hit Jynx, Jynx then tryed to use an Ice Punch but Scizor moved away as then Haru told Scizor to use Aerial Ace and it Sent Jynx back, as the Pokémon flinch.

Haru then looked at Scizor. "Move Change, Use X-Scissors".

Everyone then Heard a mental click, as then U-Turn then changed into X-Scissors, as then Scizor moved it the Physic/Ice type Pokémon to the wall.

Will sighed as he looked at Haru. "You know I always hated they rule, and now that not it public knowledge people are going to abuse it".

Haru then pointed him with a smirk. "Will than I also found the rule that Pokémon can only use 4 moves in a official Pokémon battle by the Leagues dum, I am just following the rules".

The crowd murmured in surprise, astonished by Haru's clever strategy and his ability to change the momentum of the battle. The fact that Scizor had seemingly "changed" its move mid-battle caught everyone off guard, but Haru's explanation was technically correct—there was nothing in the League's rulebook against it.

Will chuckled softly, recalling his fainted Jynx back into its Pokéball. "You've certainly done your homework, Haru. I see why you've made it this far. But don't think for a second that I'll make it easy for you."

He pulled out his next Pokéball, his confident demeanor unwavering. "Let's see how you handle this one. Go, Slowbro!"

With a flash of light, the Water/Psychic Pokémon appeared, its calm and slightly dopey expression belying its immense power. Slowbro stood tall, ready for the next round.

Haru grinned, unfazed by the type disadvantage. "Scizor, let's keep up the pressure! Use X-Scissor!"

Scizor's claws glowed bright green as it lunged at Slowbro with incredible speed, slashing at the Pokémon with devastating force.

Will, however, was ready. "Slowbro, Slack Off!"

Despite the heavy blow, Slowbro's injuries visibly healed as it used its move to recover. The crowd watched intently, realizing that Slowbro's bulk and recovery moves could pose a significant challenge for Haru.

Haru's smirk widened. "We'll see how long you can keep that up. Scizor, Swords Dance, then follow up with another X-Scissor!"

Scizor's power increased further as it sharpened its focus, preparing for an even more devastating attack. It dashed forward, delivering a powerful X-Scissor that once again dealt massive damage to Slowbro.

Will quickly countered. "Slowbro, use Scald!"

Slowbro unleashed a surge of boiling water, hitting Scizor squarely. While Scizor endured the attack, Haru noticed the dreaded burn effect take hold, weakening Scizor's physical attacks.

Haru frowned slightly but didn't lose his confidence. "Scizor, you've done great. Return for now." He called back Scizor and grabbed his next Pokéball. "Let's switch it up. Go, Yamask".

The crowd watched in awe as Haru sent out Yamask, a mysterious Ghost-type Pokémon known for its eerie presence. Its glowing mask floated just below its face, adding to its haunting aura.

Will adjusted his mask slightly, intrigued by the unexpected choice. "A Yamask, huh? Interesting. Let's see what you've got. Slowbro, use Scald again!"

Slowbro unleashed another surge of boiling water, the attack rushing toward Yamask with immense force.

Haru smirked confidently. "Yamask, Protect!"

A shimmering barrier appeared in front of Yamask, absorbing the full brunt of the Scald attack and leaving the Ghost-type completely unscathed.

Will's eyes narrowed. "So you're playing defensively now. Let's see how far that gets you. Slowbro, use Calm Mind!"

Slowbro closed its eyes, its special attack and special defense rising as it entered a state of serene focus.

Haru, however, was one step ahead. "Yamask, Will-O-Wisp!"

Yamask summoned ghostly blue flames that danced toward Slowbro, enveloping it and inflicting a burn. The crowd gasped as Slowbro's physical strength was halved, a smart counter to the tanky Water/Psychic Pokémon.

Will clicked his tongue in mild frustration. "Impressive, but burns won't save you from this. Slowbro, Ice Beam!"

The beam of freezing energy shot toward Yamask, but Haru was ready. "Yamask, dodge and counter with Hex!"

Yamask gracefully evaded the Ice Beam and unleashed a sinister purple energy that struck Slowbro. Thanks to the burn status, Hex's power was doubled, dealing significant damage to Slowbro.

The crowd erupted in cheers, amazed by Haru's strategy and Yamask's effectiveness.

Will gritted his teeth, realizing his Slowbro was in trouble. "Slowbro, use Slack Off to recover!"

Slowbro attempted to heal itself, but Haru saw this coming. "Yamask, finish it with another Hex!"

Yamask released another burst of ghostly energy, overpowering Slowbro and causing it to faint.

The referee raised a flag. "Slowbro is unable to battle! The winner of this round is Yamask!"

The crowd roared with excitement, impressed by Haru's tactical prowess.

Will recalled Slowbro, a thoughtful expression on his face. "You're quite the strategist, Haru. But let's see how you handle this. Go, Gallade!"

Gallade emerged onto the battlefield, its blade-like arms gleaming as it took a battle stance.

Haru smiled, the intensity of the battle only fueling his determination. "Yamask, let's keep the momentum going!"
