Pokémon Chronicles: The New Beginning

Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Formulating Potion

"There's no injury, just unconscious?"

Natsume ignored the thoughts of those around him and perceived the issue with Baron Reiser.

Asleep state... He deduced from his previous knowledge that the concept of status conditions probably hadn't appeared in this world yet.

If it were an ordinary asleep state, then it would be easy to treat—a Chesto Berry would be sufficient.

However, since these pharmacists had tried many methods without waking Baron Reiser, it indicated that this was not a normal asleep state. Perhaps it was the result of a hypnosis-type attack, but he couldn't tell if it was Sleep Powder or Hypnosis.

"Younger pharmacist, have you noticed anything?"

Sir Belin looked at the pensive Natsume and asked in front of everyone.

He planned to use the presence of these pharmacists to directly test Natsume, aiming to expose his identity as a pharmacist and have him leave as soon as possible.

Natsume glanced at Sir Belin, guessing his thoughts, and scoffed inwardly.

After considering for a moment, he looked at the lord, who was also watching him, and said:

"Baron Reiser seems to be affected by the powers of Warcraft."

"Some grass-type Warcraft carry powders that have a hypnosis effect."

"Additionally, some... um, Warcraft with strong mental power can cast hypnosis through mental attacks."

Natsume began to explain. At this point in time, the concepts of Pokémon and their attributes were still vaguely understood.

In the real world, Pokémon can have one or two types; for example, Petilil is solely a Grass type, while Rhyhorn is both a Ground type and a Rock type.

Each Pokémon and move has its own type. When a move directly damages a Pokémon of a specific type, depending on type matchups, effects such as resistance, vulnerability, or immunity to attacks may occur.

"The powers of Warcraft... we think so too," several older pharmacists nodded in agreement.

Extracting Sleep Powder from grass-type Warcraft was not particularly difficult for them.

However, the baron's condition was too strange; their methods had been ineffective in waking him, causing them to doubt their own judgment.

Well, who wouldn't guess that... Harlan, a pharmacist, seemed unconcerned and interjected, "So, do you know the method of treatment?"

They had originally asked casually and didn't expect him to respond, but to their surprise, he actually nodded.

At that moment, everyone in the room was drawn to him, including those pharmacists preparing the Full Heal.

"It's actually quite simple. You just need to use an Oran Berry and a Chesto Berry to brew a potion that will wake the baron," Natsume said directly.

In his position, it would be difficult to convince the people present without offering a direct solution.

"You know this recipe?" The young pharmacist seemed surprised, examining Natsume carefully, clearly realizing that he had some knowledge of potion-making.

Each potion recipe is very important to pharmacists, and unless they are their own students, it's nearly impossible to share with outsiders.

However, this recipe had already been tried by them with no effect.

"Didn't work?"

Natsume paused for a moment before continuing, "My potion might be effective."

Hearing his words, everyone turned their attention back to him.

Given that they had just declared the potion recipe ineffective, how could he claim that his potion would work?

Is he saying that the potion he makes is more effective than those of all the pharmacists present?

It was known that the best pharmacists in Hope City were gathered here, including Master Ole and Master John!

Could this commoner pharmacist actually exceed the level of master pharmacists?

"I hope you're not joking," Sir Belin said, lowering his voice. He was starting to suspect that Natsume was deliberately causing trouble.

Natsume looked calmly at Sir Belin. "You seem to have a prejudice against me."

Hearing his words, many in the room felt the urge to laugh; clearly, Sir Belin was not the only one with bias.

"Are you sure you're willing to pass up an opportunity? Or are you that confident in the Full Heal?" Natsume glanced at everyone present and added, "Legends are, after all, just legends."

This time, no one in the room refuted him; just as he said, the Full Heal was a desperate attempt on their part.

Without waiting for Sir Belin to say anything further, Natsume said calmly, "If I can cure him, then you will return Petilil to me. How does that sound?"

When he said this, everyone was taken aback, unsure how to respond.

Isn't that Petilil Sir Belin's? What does he mean by returning it?

However, many quickly recovered, including Lord Mira, who furrowed her brow and glanced at the somewhat fluctuating expression on Sir Belin's face.

That annoying guy… Sir Belin was quite irritated.

Although Natsume hadn't explicitly stated it, the implication was clear: this Petilil did not belong to him!

He was on the verge of exploding in anger, but Natsume hadn't explicitly said it, and upon noticing the lord's gaze, he forcibly suppressed his fury.

"You're quite interesting."

"If you can wake my father, how about I give you Petilil?" Sir Belin said, maintaining a calm demeanor as he tried to save face.

Natsume was indifferent to the nobleman's evasive tactics. Since he had already agreed, his purpose had been achieved.

"Little one, I'll take you home soon."

Hearing his words, everyone in the room looked at Natsume in surprise. Was he really here to save this Petilil?

"Petilil..." Petilil stared blankly at Natsume, unable to believe that he had indeed come to rescue it!

Seeing the confident smile on Natsume's face, Petilil felt a surge of reassurance, a flicker of hope blossoming in its heart.

This person is unexpectedly gentle; I hope he really can wake Uncle Reiser... Mira thought to herself, not wanting Petilil to simply fade away.
