Pokémon Chronicles: The New Beginning

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Breeder Natsume

Chapter 2: Breeder Natsume

In the lord's castle at the center of Hope City, the lord was listening to her chief knight report on the situation regarding Baron Reiser.

With long white hair draped over her shoulders and dressed in a simple black court gown, Mira furrowed her brow, pinching her chin with two fingers as she fell into deep thought.

Baron Reiser was the leader of the knight brigade in Hope City, having watched her grow up and serving as her main supporter as the lord of Hope City.

"Your Highness, do not worry. Sir Belin has found Petilil."

"The Full Heal made from Petilil can heal all injuries and ailments."

Using Petilil... Mira opened her mouth, her eyes showing concern, but thinking of Uncle Reiser's situation, she pursed her lips and remained silent.

At that moment, a knight suddenly approached from outside the door, whispering a few words in Kevin's ear.

Kevin nodded slightly, and after the knight stepped back, he said to the lord, "Your Highness, there's a… um… pharmacist outside."

"A pharmacist?"

"Then hurry and let him meet me."

Mira's eyes brightened. She had previously issued a reward, and this pharmacist must have come after seeing the announcement.

Before long, she met the person claiming to be the pharmacist.

He wore tattered yet relatively clean linen clothes, and was dragging on backless shoes, dressed in a farmer's attire.

He can't be a fraud... Mira thought to herself, while maintaining a serious expression. She said, "You say you are a pharmacist?"

Natsume was also examining the benevolent lord before him, with her white hair cascading over her shoulders. Though she appeared to be a young girl, her demeanor was surprisingly stern.

Hearing the lord's question, he replied calmly, "Yes, I am a pharmacist."

Hmm, this person doesn't seem to be lying... Observing Natsume's composed expression, Mira made her judgment.

At that moment, the baron's residence was filled with all the famous pharmacists from Hope City. If this person was a fraud, they would be able to tell immediately.

"You can go right now…" After thinking it over, Mira said. After finishing her sentence, she paused again. "Wait, I will go with you."

In Hope City, there was a carriage, but instead of being pulled by horses, it was drawn by a rhinoceros clad in gray armor.

This Pokémon was known as Rhyhorn, although in this world, it was referred to as Warcraft.

Inside the carriage, Mira sat in the front seat while Natsume took a lower position. Both of them appeared quite silent.

This lord seems easy to get along with... Natsume was surprised that he could share a carriage with the lord, as social class distinctions in the ancient world were very clear.

There were few pedestrians on the stone-paved road.

The occasional passerby wore short-sleeved linen tunics, matching trousers, and backless shoes.

They instinctively stepped aside as the Rhyhorn carriage approached quickly, fear and awe evident in their eyes as they looked at the Rhyhorn.

To the common people, Warcraft was truly powerful. This Rhyhorn could only be handled by fully armed, trained knights.

If a Warcraft like this went on a rampage in the town, it would be a complete disaster for these common people.

While the knights could control and direct them to fight using Warcraft apparatus, rogue Warcraft still appeared every year.

Before long, Rhyhorn brought the carriage to Baron Reiser's home.

Sir Belin had already received the news and was personally welcoming them at the door when he suddenly saw Natsume stepping down from the carriage.

"What are you doing here?"

Sir Belin's pupils narrowed, looking at Natsume with hostility, suppressing his voice.

He recognized Natsume as the nephew of the owner of the fruit trees and instinctively assumed he had come to reclaim Petilil!

"He's also a pharmacist..."

Mira, the lord, was unaware of the underlying reasons and simply explained.

Then she quickly walked toward the manor, wanting to see the baron's condition for herself.

Pharmacist... Belin frowned slightly. Could this nephew of the fruit tree owner really be a pharmacist?

Despite his disbelief, since it was the lord who said it, he had no reason to argue. He turned and led the group toward his father's room.

Since the lord was present, he did not think Natsume would do anything reckless.

When the time came, he would simply need to prove Natsume's claim to be a pharmacist false and kick him out!

In the baron's room, several older pharmacists sat together discussing various matters.

On the table, Natsume spotted Petilil in an iron cage.

Petilil was a plant-like Pokémon, mostly green in color, with a round head and stripes that made it look like a bulbous plant.

It had three oval-shaped leaves atop its head, a clean face adorned with large eyes, and a green bib around its neck. Its body had five short stubs, two resembling arms and two resembling legs.

At that moment, the little one clutched the cage, its body covered in scars, with round eyes scanning the surroundings, appearing both defiant and pitiful.

When Petilil saw Natsume enter the room, its eyes suddenly brightened, only to quickly dim again.

It recognized this annoying guy—the one who had sneaked into the fruit trees' grove countless nights to pluck its underdeveloped leaves.

He definitely isn't here to save me, nor does he have the ability to do so… In despair, Petilil released its grip on the bars and slumped weakly to the ground.

Petilil, luckily, got here in time... Natsume felt a sense of relief.

As a Pokémon Breeder, he had an extraordinary love for Pokémon and couldn't bear to see them suffer.

Suppressing the impulse to immediately open the iron cage and rescue Petilil, he instead turned his gaze to Baron Reiser lying in bed.

To save Petilil, he first had to ensure Baron Reiser recovered.

As Natsume entered the room, the pharmacists were also watching him, some confused about why he was there.

After the lord finished introducing Natsume, Harlan scoffed inwardly. How could an ordinary commoner become a pharmacist?

Each of them had paid a great price to learn potion-making knowledge from the master pharmacists.

For pharmacists, the knowledge they held was the only standard by which their skill level was measured!
