Pokémon: Chronicles of Freedom

Chapter 897: Tyrunt

"Combusken, bring it out. Let's see what kind of Pokémon it is," Cain said to Combusken.

"Bussk!"

Combusken growled and charged straight forward.

Halfway there, it pushed off with its legs and leapt into the air.

Its entire body showed perfectly defined muscle lines.

Its legs targeted the pile of sand.

Bang!

Bang!

Combusken's Double Kick sent the Pokémon flying out of the sand pile.

A brownish Pokémon was thrown out.

Tyrunt?

Cain recognized the Pokémon instantly when he saw it.

The system immediately scanned the data of this Tyrunt.

Tyrunt looked like a miniature Tyrannosaurus Rex, though with a much smaller body.

This type of Pokémon, much like Steven's Armaldo, belonged to ancient eras—only a few were still around in the present Pokémon world.

However, many had been preserved in fossil form.

With the current level of technology in the Pokémon world, as long as fossils were well-preserved, these Pokémon could be revived.

It's worth mentioning that Tyrunt is a Rock- and Dragon-type Pokémon. While not a pure Dragon-type, it had notably strong draconic blood.

Although the emergence of Fairy-types had weakened the dominance of Dragon-types, their power was still deeply respected and hadn't lost its value.

That's why, even though this Tyrunt was of Green quality, it was still valuable.

"Rooaaar!"

Having been kicked by Combusken, Tyrunt got angry and roared with its mouth wide open.

However, its roar carried an almost innocent tone and wasn't very intimidating.

Since it was just a Tyrunt, there was no need for three Pokémon to step in. Cain decided that Combusken would face it alone.

The advantage was clear.

"Combusken, Bulk Up!" Cain ordered.

Combusken didn't flinch at Tyrunt's roar. Upon hearing Cain's command, it started flexing in front of the Pokémon.

Even though its body was covered in feathers, they didn't hide its well-defined muscles.

Seeing the Pokémon that had just kicked it now showing off its muscles, Tyrunt grew even more furious.

Did it really think he was still a baby?

Tyrunt roared again, charged with all its might, and ran toward Combusken with its mouth wide open.

Black streaks appeared around its jaws, and its sharp teeth emanated an icy aura.

Crunch!

Tyrunt's Strong Jaw ability greatly increased its bite force, boosting all biting moves by 50%.

If it landed a bite, it could be fatal for many Pokémon.

Even Combusken needed to avoid getting bitten.

"Combusken, Sand Attack! Then use Agility to dodge—get behind it!"

Combusken scooped up sand with its feet and hurled it straight into Tyrunt's face.

Some of it got into the Pokémon's eyes.

This slowed its charge.

Combusken started running across the terrain.

With its Speed Boost ability and the Agility move, Combusken reached top speed almost instantly.

Tyrunt was already slow, and now the gap between the two became even more apparent.

"Double Kick!"

From behind Tyrunt, Combusken heard Cain's command and launched itself with power toward the Pokémon's neck.

Bang!

Bang!

Two kicks landed squarely on Tyrunt's head.

The Tyrunt staggered and fell to the ground.

For a moment, it looked completely disoriented.

Who am I?

Where am I?

What was I doing?

Was someone attacking me?

Yes! Someone was attacking me!

As it came to, it ignored the charging Combusken and let out a heart-wrenching cry with its mouth wide open.

The cry was so pitiful, anyone watching would think Cain had done something horrible to it.

Suddenly, the crying stopped.

Combusken had landed two more kicks to its head, knocking it out.

Fighting-type moves are doubly effective against Rock-types. With the boost from Bulk Up and Double Kick, Combusken quickly defeated it.

Combusken stood in place, looking at its hands and feet, feeling an immense power within its body.

It realized it had grown stronger without noticing.

It remembered the first time Cain had let it fight in a battle. When it took a hit, it had cried and run to Cain.

But now, it could take down a similarly-leveled Pokémon with just a few blows.

This was the feeling of becoming stronger.

A warm current flowed through its muscles.

From Cain's perspective, Combusken had leveled up after defeating Tyrunt.

It was now at level 35, just one level away from evolving.

Combusken had already accumulated enough experience—it just hadn't had many chances to show it.

This time, it had unleashed its full potential.

Cain tossed a Poké Ball and captured the Tyrunt.

A Dragon-type Pokémon was still a valuable asset.

Suddenly, the wind and dust around them intensified.

Lairon and Pupitar came closer to Cain, their expressions serious as they observed the surroundings.

Cain also noticed the shift in the environment.

He furrowed his brow slightly—then relaxed.

"Looks like this Tyrunt didn't come alone. Seems he brought me a nice gift too," Cain said calmly.

The dust thickened, but within the storm, several tall Pokémon figures could be made out.

The tallest stood nearly three meters tall.

A truly imposing Pokémon.

Upon seeing these silhouettes, Cain knew exactly which Pokémon they were.

Hit the little one, and the big ones come.

Since they were so close, they might as well all come together.

Dragon-type Pokémon remained incredibly valuable.

Cain's island could use more high-value Pokémon. These ancient Dragon-types seemed like a perfect choice.

Even though Rock/Dragon wasn't the best typing, these Pokémon stood out for their physical power.

And many Tyrantrum had the Strong Jaw ability—a huge advantage for them.
