Pokemon Battle System: I Reincarnated As A Charmander

Chapter 127: Chapter 127: Ruby City's Night Market

In the system space, Lian carefully sensed the fire elemental energy enveloping his claws. Fire elemental energy is inherently volatile and unstable, making it more suitable for explosive attacks.

Lian raised his claw, curling it into a fist adorned with orange-red flames, and unleashed a punch. The fiery aura around his fist resembled a descending meteorite.

"It seems this won't work," Lian frowned slightly. Fire elemental energy's intense volatility makes stabilization challenging, resulting in few defensive Fire-type moves; most are offensive or transformational.

Initially, Lian aimed to create a protective layer by attaching fire elemental energy to his body, but now he realized that was quite naive.

He paused practicing the Fire Punch, instead focusing on controlling the fire elemental energy to forcibly cover his entire body, forming a flame-encased shield.

However, if Lian ceased controlling these flames, they would instantly disperse due to their intense activity and volatility.

There were indeed several moves similar to enveloping oneself with fire, such as Flame Charge or Flare Blitz, which utilized flames for powerful charges or rushes. Yet none of them provided defensive capabilities. Even with Lian's current Control Rating, it proved impractical, indicating this approach was largely unfeasible.

"I've been too naive, but that's alright. The best defense is offense."

After further experimentation, Lian gave up. The flame energy was simply too active; unless he constantly forced it to adhere to his skin, maintaining it would consume excessive energy, making it highly inefficient.

"Why bother with a protective layer when I can just enhance my Double Defense?" Lian shook his head, feeling more confident in improving his defenses through other means.

Time flew by, and three days quickly passed.

In the evening, Kalia returned from the Battle Arena, took a simple shower, changed into comfortable clothes, and headed towards the library.

Today marked the opening of Ruby City's Night Market, which Kalia had been waiting for to purchase Fire Stones.

The Night Market would be open for three days, featuring a well-established commercial event with numerous rare items not typically available elsewhere. Among them, the Fire Stones that Kalia intended to buy would also be present.

Over the past half-month, Kalia consistently earned money through the Battle Tower. With daily rewards amounting to 500 Alliance Coins, her earnings increased significantly. Upon reaching the sixth floor, her daily compensation doubled to 1,000 Alliance Coins. Now, she had accumulated over 10,000 Alliance Coins, sufficient funds to invest in training her Pokemon.

Ruby City's Night Market was bustling with activity, drawing massive crowds. Located near the city center, it showcased a wide variety of goods on display throughout the market.

As dusk settled in, by the time Kalia reached the Night Market, it was already dark outside. However, the market was illuminated like daylight with lights everywhere.

Stalls lined the area, filled with merchants selling goods. Despite appearing modest, these stalls offered surprisingly rare and valuable items at first glance.

Most of the merchandise related to Pokemon, but Kalia didn't linger, focusing on acquiring the Fire Stone before considering other purchases.

Compared to Pearl City's marketplace, Ruby City's Night Market was even livelier, bustling with people everywhere. Some areas featured captivating Pokemon performances.

Pop.

Lian voluntarily emerged from his Poké Ball, unable to resist the lively atmosphere he could hear even inside. He wanted to see what all the excitement was about.

Looking around, Lian noticed the vibrant lighting that made it feel as bright as day. The crowd moved continuously, but most importantly, there were numerous tempting treats in sight.

Right after emerging, he found himself facing a food stall laden with various delicious offerings: cakes, beverages, energy cubes, berries, and more - a wide array of enticing options.

Lian's mouth started watering just looking at it all.

Kalia noticed Charmeleon emerging and immediately focusing on the delicious food stalls, finding it amusing. Charmeleon's appetite was well-known to her.

"Charmeleon, let's first purchase the Fire Stone. We can come back later for some treats," Kalia said.

At that moment, the young vendor approached them. "Little girl, are you looking for a Fire Stone? I happen to have one here. Are you interested?"

"Big sister, you have a Fire Stone?" Kalia was taken aback; although Ruby City is known for producing Fire Stones, they weren't exactly common sights.

"Of course, take a look." The young woman produced an elegant box, revealing a translucent orange-yellow stone inside - indeed, it was a Fire Stone.

Feeling quite fortunate, Kalia realized she wouldn't need to search further since the Fire Stone appeared right away upon arrival.

"How much does it cost?" Kalia asked. The market price for a Fire Stone was around 2,000 Alliance Coins. As long as it was cheaper than that, she was prepared to buy it.

Bargaining always seemed tedious to Kalia. If the price was too high, she wouldn't purchase it; if reasonable, she would, keeping things simple.

"Only one thousand nine hundred Alliance Coins," the young woman said. "It's significantly cheaper than others sell for; you're getting a great deal."

"I'll take it, but I need to inspect it first." Kalia confidently responded, yet as a precaution, she picked up the Fire Stone, examining its authenticity.

A genuine Fire Stone emits warmth and contains unique fire elemental energy, capable of enhancing a Fire-type Pokémon's potential.

After confirming its legitimacy, Kalia nodded and purchased the Fire Stone.

Seeing that Kalia bought the Fire Stone, Lian turned his attention to the food on the stall, beginning to make his selections.

"Your Charmeleon seems to really enjoy these treats. Would you like some? They're all homemade using fresh ingredients and fruits," the young woman smiled warmly.

"Sure, let me have a look." Kalia agreed, squatting down to examine the food items on display.

Lian spotted a bottle of grape juice, with its purple liquid emitting a delightful aroma - it looked incredibly refreshing.

"Charmeleon seems to really enjoy grape juice. This is made from fresh grapes, blended with other sweet juices for a delightful tangy and fruity taste," observed the young vendor, noticing Lian's interest in the grape juice.

"I'll take one then."

A moment later,

Lian happily held the bottle of grape juice, sipping it as he walked, his expression filled with enjoyment - it was incredibly delicious.

"Charmeleon, let's check over there." Kalia pulled Lian towards another section of the Night Market. With its variety of rare items, sometimes luck would lead them to discover truly exceptional finds.

Ahead, a crowd had gathered around something, piquing Kalia's curiosity.

Kalia guided Charmeleon through the throng, people instinctively making way due to Lian's size; no one wanted accidental burns from Charmeleon's fiery tail.

Following closely behind Kalia, Lian curiously peered at what drew the crowd's attention. It turned out to be someone selling various Pokemon items.

Pokemon items were generally quite scarce, so finding someone selling these rare goods naturally attracted a large audience.
