Pokémon: A Trainer Who Masters the Six Powers from the Start

After disrupting Rhyhorn's attack with Screech, Ron directed Persian to use Hypnosis to affect Rhyhorn's state.

Seizing the opportunity, Persian rushed forward and delivered a Faint Attack.

The lingering effect of Screech made it easy for Persian's strike to leave a visible scar on Rhyhorn's body before Persian swiftly retreated to a safe distance.

The pain snapped Rhyhorn out of Persian's Hypnosis, and it glared intensely at its opponent, who maintained a cautious distance.

"Persian, use Swift to interfere, followed by Screech!"

Star-shaped projectiles shot out as Rhyhorn responded in the simplest way possible—charging forward with Drill Run.

As Rhyhorn barreled ahead, Persian's Swift scattered and disappeared on impact. However, Screech echoed again, causing Rhyhorn to momentarily falter. Though clearly affected, Rhyhorn gritted its teeth and continued its charge, its defense stat now reduced by four stages.

"Persian, dodge with Shave (Soru) and counter with Faint Attack!"

Thanks to the Technician ability, which boosts the power of lower-strength moves by 50%, Persian's attacks were even more effective.

In a flash of white, Persian vanished from its position. Rhyhorn could only feel a gust of wind as Persian sped past, leaving another fresh wound on its body.

"Persian, use Screech again!"

The sharp sound engulfed Rhyhorn, lowering its defense to its minimum. At this point, in Persian's eyes, Rhyhorn was a clumsy, fragile opponent—strong in power but lacking in durability.

Sensing Persian's confidence, Ron quickly issued another command for an aggressive strike.

With the enhanced speed from Soru (Shave), Persian closed in. Rhyhorn, just beginning to turn around, suddenly felt an overwhelming sense of danger from the front.

Before Rhyhorn could react, Ron instructed Persian to combine Hypnosis with Faint Attack.

The hypnotic waves clouded Rhyhorn's focus, leaving it groggy and unable to muster its full strength.

Pain shot through its chest as Persian's attack struck true, snapping Rhyhorn back to awareness. By then, Persian had already repositioned itself behind its opponent.

"Keep it up, Persian! Use Hypnosis and Faint Attack in succession to wear it down!"

Following Ron's command, Persian launched another assault. Rhyhorn, learning from its earlier mistakes, tightly shut its eyes and reared up, slamming down with a Stomp that triggered Earthquake.

Having faced similar moves before, Persian was already prepared. It leapt into the air, avoiding the shockwaves entirely.

With its eyes closed, Rhyhorn had no way of tracking Persian's movements. Even by straining to listen, it couldn't detect the silent approach of Persian, who moved like a ghost, closing the distance.

Persian unleashed a combination of Faint Attack and Fake Out, leaving two more scars on Rhyhorn's body.

Rhyhorn's injuries pulsed with pain, gnawing at its endurance. Unlike a young and reckless Rhyhorn, this more mature elite-level Rhyhorn knew when to retreat, especially against an opponent like Persian that held a clear advantage.

"Persian, don't let it escape! Use Hypnosis and Faint Attack to finish it off!"

Realizing Rhyhorn's intention to retreat, Ron urged Persian to strike decisively, denying it any chance of escape.

Rhyhorn made one final attempt, combining Earthquake with Rock Blast. Hardened stones surrounded Rhyhorn, scattering outward with the tremors in an attempt to block Persian's approach.

"Persian, use Swift to break through the Rock Blast!"

The starry projectiles shattered the incoming rocks. Rhyhorn quickly located Persian's position and launched itself forward with Drill Run.

Even mid-air, Persian could still disrupt Rhyhorn's charge with Hypnosis. In a daze, Rhyhorn lost sight of Persian entirely.

Scarlet blood splattered as yet another wound appeared on Rhyhorn's body.

"Persian, finish this with Hyper Beam!"

Landing firmly on the ground, Persian began preparing Hyper Beam while Rhyhorn was paralyzed by pain.

Concentrated energy gathered into the red gem on Persian's forehead before a blazing orange beam erupted forward.

Unable to evade, Rhyhorn retaliated with a desperate Take Down, but its battered body could no longer muster its full strength.

The instant of collision saw Hyper Beam overpowering Rhyhorn, forcing it back with unrelenting force. The pain pushed Rhyhorn further toward collapse until the beam finally launched it away, rendering it unconscious.

Defeating Rhyhorn yielded a significant amount of experience, leaving Persian just shy of reaching Level 35. This highlighted how challenging it was for elite Pokémon to level up.

After using Fighting Aura to help Rhyhorn recover, Ron left before it regained consciousness.

With Nidorino newly evolved, Ron planned to use the wild Pokémon along their path for training, helping it adapt to its new body.

Next in line were Machoke and the others.

For Persian, Ron's goal was a single level-up, while Machoke needed to reach Level 39. Once they arrived in Lavender Town, Ron intended to evolve Machoke into Machamp via trade.

Breaking through from the lower to mid-elite tier would still require several days of intense battles, even with the aid of Fighting Aura. It was an arduous process that explained why most rookie trainers only reached the beginner elite level in their first year.

As Pokémon grew stronger, leveling up became increasingly demanding, requiring substantial resources and careful management to prevent stagnation caused by improper training or inherent limitations.

For Ron, though, such concerns were secondary. His immediate focus was preparing Machoke for evolution.

Moreover, Ron suspected that the infusion of Fighting Aura during evolution subtly enhanced his Pokémon, though without any references or documented evidence, he could only confirm his theory through future breakthroughs.

With the plan set, Ron led Machoke and the others deeper into the forest.
