B2 | Chapter 13
Aqua
I frown as I stare at the timestamp. At the current time.
Then I go ahead and open my mail before reading the latest priority flagged business mail. With the very first and most important one being from Rhett. Where he tells me how all of the jobs we had scheduled for the past two days along with today have been cancelled.
Which isn't that big a deal since most of them weren't very important. At most I'll have to go and spend a few days doing nothing but filming for the drama for those days' jobs.
The directors of dramas and the like don't mind since they all know this is a possible situation that could come about when having a Pioneer in their show. And to top that off, they can simply push back filming for my scenes and push up filming for other people's scenes.
And the photoshoots and ad filming don't really matter. Not for me at least.
For the people I'm doing the ads and photoshoots for, they matter. But not to me, and not to our agency.
I continue reading through mail before finding something from Kaelthas telling me that they're going back into the Abyss. But that he's going to keep watching my broadcasts even while in there.
Since the only broadcasts people can watch in the Abyss are Pioneer broadcasts.
They are hosted by the System after all. Making it so people can watch the broadcasts through both the System and other means, like streaming services and TV.
It's the same logic as how only Pioneers can broadcast from within the Abyss. Since there aren't any signals or anything like it being used that can be blocked by the Abyss.
Just the System doing System things.
I continue lying down on the cabin's old bed staring up at the ceiling with my thoughts going back to how long I was unconscious.
Two days passed and my regular injuries aren't healed still. Which means one of two things.
Either those 'regular injuries' were far worse than I thought they were.
Or having my hearts injured slows down my healing.
I really hope it's the former and not the latter.
Silence fills the cabin as I lie down on the bed wondering what happened to the monsters. Since even if I did clear out this cavern of monsters, the other cavern still has plenty of monsters if I remember correctly. So other monsters should've at least come to this cavern from there.
Unless they just couldn't find me?
Or maybe my Bloodline frightened them away now that I'm a higher level?
I let out a sigh at that thought before continuing to look through my mail. Only to find some messages from quite a few people I know.
Messages from people back on Equeter, including but not limited to the cranky old grandmother who is finally using the money I gave her. Seemingly having given up at last in her vain attempt to hold off using it.
The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.
She mentions that the funds went into completely renovating the convenience store, purchasing the entire building above the convenience store, and converting the entire building into a department store instead. One meant more for the poor rather than the wealthy.
I smile as I read the message. Only for the smile to grow slightly tense when I get to the part about her splitting seventy percent of the profits with me.
With her only taking thirty percent of them.
Damnit. I wanted her to take it all and use it herself, but she straight up signed a contract with the agency using some roundabout way to do it without me having a say.
Which I didn't even realize was possible. But I guess it is possible.
Only because I'm signed with an agency and was unconscious for over a day straight.
This is irritating. I can't even back out of it since the contract is already signed.
And I know Rhett only signed it to help me. Since it does get me another source of income.
Plus I'm pretty sure Rhett would be upset if she used all that money herself anyway without giving me anything in return. Since there are rules against taking advantage of Bloodliners.
Even if the Bloodliners are fine with it, some people could still take advantage of it to attack people's contracts legally.
I let out a sigh.
Well, whatever. Thirty percent of a department store's total earnings are still more than a hundred percent of a small and run-down convenience store's earnings.
She also still has plenty of funds I gave her that she can invest into it to expand the store more. So I wouldn't be surprised if she buys the neighboring buildings to expand the store more and more.
In fact, I hope she does buy them.
Because she should.
I should mention to Rhett that I want to do some marketing for her to help the department store at some point.
After reading through my mail, I look at my Sponsorships and begin looking through them. At which point I find a new armor and weapon core available now that I'm above level one hundred and twenty five.
So I go ahead and accept those. But I don't crush the armor core yet since it would hurt to put on new armor right now.
My heart wound needs to heal more first.
I do crush the weapon core while holding my hand above me though. Making it form a harpoon this time.
Huh. That's interesting.
The harpoon is a bit more like a double bladed spear on the end in a way. With a narrow blade running down for a couple feet at the end of the harpoon. Making it suitable for both slashing and stabbing.
Honestly, it makes for a better weapon than a trident in my opinion.
Maybe that's why I got it instead of a trident this time?
The harpoon has the same design as the tridents though. With the deep blue almost black color and the pale blue glowing lines across it.
It doesn't look all that much different in terms of how to use it compared to the tridents. So that should make adjusting to it rather easy.
Although I'll be using my new claw skill against the boss. Not the harpoon.
So I guess that doesn't matter as much.
I slowly lift my arm upwards before deciding to test the new skill. Activating it and in the process making my arm from the elbow down quickly begin transforming.
First my skin turns a deep blue, almost black color. Following which scales begin to emerge all the way up until my hand. Where my hand itself turns into a large, hooked claw.
Just like a squid's claw, which is what the Krakens are technically. Just massive squids.
And the claw itself is the same deep blue, almost black color as everything else.
What surprises me about the claw though is that I see some sort of pitch black, thick liquid dripping from the tip of the hooked claw.
My claw has venom?
Interesting.
I wonder what the venom does?
It's too bad I can't test it right now.
Not while recovering from my injury.
Hmm…
Venom from the Abyssal Kraken itself.
I can't wait to see what it does.
Putting the venom aside for now though, I go ahead and begin infusing some mana into my claw. Only to be more than a little surprised at the claw slowly straightening out and morphing. Turning into a straight claw instead of a hook.
But for some reason I instinctively feel that it'll change again when it stabs something. Changing back into a hook again if I want it to, just so that it can stay inside of whatever I attack if I want it to.
Also, the venom that was being secreted from the tip of the hooked claw is now coating the entire, thick claw.
After examining it for a bit, I deactivate the skill and flop my arm back down onto the bed again.
Well this is boring.
