Percy Jackson - Godwyn the Golden

Chapter 53 - Godwyn, the God of Order (II)

"How are you feeling, Godwyn?" Mimir asked, looking at the boy before him. Unlike before, there was a special aura around him. An aura that only a god would have. The most striking thing was his golden eyes, which now shone with a phosphorescent glow, like two golden, shimmering suns.

"Strong." Godwyn replied, clenching his fist and feeling the power course through his veins. He felt he could destroy anything at that moment and he wasn't lying. He looked at Mimir and said with a smile, "However, I am still myself and having strength won't change me."

Mimir also smiled hearing Godwyn's words, he knew more than anyone that power changed people. He himself was an example of this, becoming cold, cruel, and calculating in search of more power. Only when he saw the true face of the world did he realize he had lost himself on the path to power.

The knowledge he always sought was overshadowed by Odin's tempting words, seducing him to be just another pawn in the Nordic King's hands.

"How is Vanaheim?" Godwyn sat at the table and asked in a solemn tone. He knew Odin would sense it the moment Heimdall died.

"Complete chaos. The King of Vanaheim was dethroned by his eldest son and the Sun God enthroned himself as the new King of Vanaheim. An hour later, the entire planet was surrounded by the All-Father himself. But, in the end, the All-Father retreated before the Queen of the Dead, who arrived in Vanaheim with another ruler." Mimir replied what he heard from Ratatoskr, the god of knowledge's voice was more solemn than ever.

"Another Ruler?" Godwyn was not surprised by the events, after all, he himself was one of the conspirators for such a thing to happen. But, he was surprised by the ruler who would arrive with Hela.

"Bergelmer the Beloved." Mimir replied with a still surprised tone at the news. Bergelmer, the King of Jotunheim, was the King of the Frost Giants and one of the oldest beings in the pantheon. The arrival of such a being alongside Hela and Freyr was an extremely dangerous sign for Asgard's dominion over the Nine Realms.

"The All-Father must already know about the impending rebellion." Godwyn said with a smile. He wanted to have seen Odin's expression when he saw two kings and a queen confronting him.

"He has known since the beginning, Ragnarok is irreversible and was prophesied millions of years ago." Mimir said with a calm and serene look. Ragnarok would happen one way or another, no matter how much Odin and the demigods saved the universe, Ragnarok would happen, for so was destiny written to be.

Godwyn nodded his head, Odin already knew he would die in Fenrir's mouth, but why didn't he kill Fenrir before that?

The answer to that was simple. If Fenrir died, Odin's fate would not change, only another being would take Fenrir's place and fulfill destiny, mounting Odin in the end. So, instead of worrying about a hidden arrow, it was better to have the arrow where he could see it.

"The All-Father must be shaking his ass right now." Brok sat in the chair and said in a rude and sarcastic tone with his raspy voice.

"He must be furious." Godwyn said with an amused smile. "He can't start a civil war while he's at war with another Pantheon."

"Well, he lost a powerful god and, on top of that, he's surrounded by enemies, he's certainly furious." Mimir commented with an equally amused tone. The more Odin suffers, the more pleasure he will feel.

Suddenly, remembering something, Godwyn asked. "Who brought me back?"

"I did." Brok said, drinking a wooden cup full of Mead. He wiped his mouth with his arm and said arrogantly. "I brought you and the sassy brat back."

"Did you see any bodies?" Godwyn asked, narrowing his eyes. He had forgotten to ask for Heimdall's body to be brought. After all, if Odin saw Heimdall's body, he would see that the deity was killed by him.

Godwyn didn't want Odin to know the news that he was alive, he would probably attack him like a madman trying to really kill him.

"There was nothing, not even ashes." Brok replied, looking at the boy with a deep gaze. "By the way, I haven't congratulated you on becoming a god, congratulations on turning into an arrogant son of a bitch."

Godwyn bowed elegantly and said with an amused and relieved tone. "Thank you, Lord Brok. Your words warm my heart."

Brok snorted coldly, but there was a smile on the dwarf's arrogant, blue face. He could see that Godwyn hadn't changed upon becoming a god. He was still the same boy as always.

"Did the spear serve its purpose?" Brok asked with a smug tone, as he already knew the answer even without the golden boy's reply.

"Yes, it impaled Heimdall like a fish, he suffered a lot before dying." Godwyn replied with a tone full of relief for killing his destined enemy. He had really wanted to kill Heimdall for a long time.

"But, I only managed to kill the bastard because he was arrogant and didn't think I had such a powerful weapon." Godwyn said in a solemn tone.

Was Heimdall a weak enemy? Not at all, he was a terribly powerful enemy. Which could be seen in the short fight between them. Godwyn and Thalia simply had no way to harm the God of Foresight.

If it weren't for the element of surprise and the extremely short fight, Godwyn didn't see how they could win. After all, Heimdall was one of the most powerful gods in the Pantheon, not just any insignificant minor god.

"Take this as a lifelong lesson, Godwyn." Mimir said in a solemn tone. "Arrogance always leads to downfall, even if you are powerful, always take an enemy seriously. No one is invincible, not even primordial gods."

Godwyn nodded his head with a solemn expression. He was not as stupid as Heimdall, history is in the books, showing the mistakes of the gods of all pantheons.

"By the way, I found this in the place where that piece of shit was killed by you." Brok said, placing a dark horn with golden details on the table.

Mimir's and Godwyn's eyes were drawn to the horn. There was no god, demigod, or monster who didn't know what that horn represented.

"Gjallarhorn, the Horn that Announces the Beginning of Ragnarok." Mimir murmured, seeing the horn on the table. Even being a dead object, there was an aura in the horn that caused shivers to everyone present.

"It seems we have the initiative." Godwyn said in a solemn tone, but there was a smile on his lips. Things had gone better than he expected.

"That's good, at least we can attack when the All-Father is most vulnerable." Mimir said with a smile on his face.

Just imagining blowing Gjallarhorn while Odin confronted Zeus was spectacular. Zeus would certainly prevent Odin from returning to the Norse Pantheon and before the armies of the Nine Worlds, Asgard was like a completely defenseless maiden.

"What are you going to do, boy?" Brok asked, refilling his own body with mead again.

Looking at Thalia, who had sat beside him at that moment. Godwyn made sure her arm was already healed before replying in a cold tone. "Of course, it's to hunt down the All-Father's supporters."

"Who will be the unlucky god or goddess?" Brok asked curiously.

"The goddess of Storms and Hurricanes." Godwyn said in a cold tone.

(Note: Bestla is not associated with anything, but her counterpart is Rhea in the Greek Pantheon, so simply create a divine position worthy of a queen of the Aesir gods.)

Brok and Mimir widened their eyes, but soon calmed down. "Are you sure? She's your grandmother."

"Who is she?" Thalia also asked in a confused tone.

"The wife of the God of Destruction and mother of the All-Father. She is the Goddess of Storms and Hurricanes, it's perfect for you." Godwyn said, looking at Thalia with a confident gaze.

"I can't kill the God of Thunder for you, but I can kill that filthy old woman." Godwyn said in a cold tone. He wanted to weaken Odin as much as possible before Ragnarok, killing Bestla and Borr, Odin's mother and father, respectively, was just the beginning.

Thalia nodded her head, at the same time, she was also surprised by the coldness in Godwyn's tone, showing that he didn't have a good opinion regarding the goddess of storms.

"I will train for a while to get used to my new powers and we will start hunting again." Godwyn said in a calm tone. It was just the beginning, when Thalia became a goddess, he would start recruiting demigods and his terrorist acts would begin to become famous among all pantheons.
