Percy Jackson - Godwyn the Golden

Chapter 52 - Godwyn, the God of Order (I)

Opening his eyes, Godwyn looked around. What he saw made the boy open his eyes wide; below him was a galaxy. Purple, red, and pink swirled around in a cloud of bright, dazzling stars.

Godwyn looked up and saw a pair of cold eyes, indifferent and seemingly emotionless. Even without knowing whose eyes they were, a name appeared in his mind. As if it were natural for him to know the name of the being before him.

In every Pantheon, there was a different name, but in the Norse Pantheon, it was called the Great Will of the Universe. It was not a being, but a set of cold and indifferent rules, concerned only with the functionality of the universe and nothing more.

Odin had not hanged himself for seven days and seven nights because of the world tree, but the world tree was a bridge to connect to this set of rules and laws to gain knowledge of the runes.

"Godwyn Odinson."

The cold and indifferent voice echoed in Godwyn's mind. This surprised him for a moment, but he bowed slightly forward with his hand on his chest. "Great Will."

The pale, cold eyes did not move or show any satisfaction with Godwyn's respect; they merely stared at the boy with an indifferent gaze.

"According to the laws of the Supreme Creator, Godwyn Odinson shall be rewarded with the Divine Positions of God Heimdall Odinson of the Norse Pantheon."

"Do you accept or refuse?" The voice of the Great Will sounded again, disregarding Godwyn's greeting.

"May I ask which Divine Positions specifically?" Perhaps someone else would be filled with emotion at this moment, but Godwyn was calm and serene, in no hurry to become a god with immortal life expectancy.

"God of Foresight, God of Vigilance, God of Order, God of Prescience, God of Protection, God of Guardianship, God of Watchers." The Voice of the Great Will sounded in Godwyn's mind, speaking a list of Heimdall's Divine Positions.

Even knowing there would be many, Godwyn couldn't help but show a slightly surprised expression. Heimdall was worthy of being one of the most powerful gods in the Norse Pantheon. Unfortunately, Heimdall encountered an aberration like him, possessing an inescapable spear and the crystallization of Death.

Of course, the only reason Heimdall had so many Divine Positions was because he was Odin's son. Having a father as a Divine King, what lesser gods coveted was easily obtained by being the son of a good father.

After all, Odin would certainly strengthen his loyal dog. A loyal but weak dog is useless for protecting the house; only a strong dog can make thieves afraid.

"I accept." Godwyn did not hesitate to speak. In the future, when he becomes a God King, he would place these Divine Positions in his vault, ready to give to demigods he deemed suitable.

He had other Divine Positions he coveted, and besides the Divine Position of the God of Order, Heimdall did not possess any of the Divine Positions Godwyn wanted.

With Godwyn's words, a golden and purple glow fell from the sky, stopping before Godwyn as a small ball of light. Without waiting for Godwyn to say anything, the ball of light moved towards his forehead.

Godwyn only felt his head become extremely swollen before everything returned to normal, but in his eyes, countless points of light appeared in his soul, nourishing his body, mind, and soul at an extremely shocking speed.

However, compared to the other balls of light, there was one specific one that caught Godwyn's attention.

It was dark, gloomy, and cold, looking like a dead planet, without any sign of life. It floated in his soul as if in the vastness of space. Unlike other Divine Positions, Godwyn felt that this one was more solid, firm, and real.

It was the Position of the Primordial God of Death.

Remembering Gaia's words, that Authorities were doors and Divine Positions were keys, he understood that this was a key containing a large part of the Authority of Death.

The Authority of Death, like all other authorities, was shared with all Pantheons; all Pantheons had gods related to death.

Each pantheon had a fixed share of the Authority of Death. Just as in Greece there were Hades and Thanatos, in the Norse Pantheon there were Hela and Hræsvelgr.

At that moment, Godwyn understood why he was the Primordial God of Death; he controlled 60% of the Authority of Death. Only when a God controls 60% of an authority can that God be considered a Primordial God.

This is because using these 60%, he could suppress any god related to death, without any difficulty.

Godwyn had to admit, the Great Will of the Universe was generous when it came to rewarding. However, he knew he only got 60% of the Authority of Death because there was no Primordial God of Death in any pantheon, so the rest of the Authority of Death was unclaimed.

When Godwyn brought the Destined Death from another universe to this one, the Will of the Universe saw this as a Feat worthy of being recognized by the universe and gifted Godwyn with the remaining unclaimed Authority of Death.

Closing his eyes, Godwyn appreciated the Divination Process; he was becoming a god at that very moment. A being that could be composed of divine energy and flesh, an energy generated from the specific authority of the god in question.

Norse gods were made of flesh, blood, and divine energy, while Greek gods were made of pure divine energy.

Most people think that killing a Greek god is impossible, but as previously stated, divine energy was generated through Authority. When the energy runs out, the god dies.

So how to kill a Greek god?

Simple, there is a limited amount of divine energy generated by authority, which was divided among several pantheons. One only had to kill the god repeatedly until finally the energy, which had a fixed limit, could not be replenished in a short time.

Without energy, the Greek god was no different from a vegetable without energy to develop.

Of course, powerful gods had large amounts of divine energy, especially god kings, who practically had unlimited divine energy. But this divine energy was not from authorities, but from their own position.

However, no matter how much divine energy you had. Before the Primordial God of Death, even a powerful god was nothing.

"It will take a while for me to truly become the Primordial God of Death, but the process that would take a hundred years, now that I am a god, this process takes about five to ten years." Godwyn murmured, satisfied with this result.

He was twelve years old; he could wait five to ten years. He would be twenty-two at most when he became one of the most powerful gods in the universe. Compared to gods who lived millions of years, he was stupidly fast. Even the Divine Kings would be extremely envious when they heard his condition.

Godwyn wanted to laugh; he felt as if a great mountain on his shoulders had become much lighter. He even looked into the eyes of the Great Will and said in a respectful tone.

"Thank you, Great Will." Godwyn spoke with a genuine tone of respect. He truly had respect for this being, which was a group of laws and rules. The Great Will was impartial, cold, and indifferent, caring about nothing more than the safety and well-being of the universe.

Anyone would feel respect for such an impartial being.

"I will return here when my pantheon is created. Until then, I hope the Great Will remains well and healthy." Although it was crazy to wish health to an incorporeal and lifeless being, Godwyn still spoke with a sincere tone.

The Great Will looked at Godwyn for a second before its eyes gradually closed and finally disappeared.

Godwyn didn't even have time to say anything when his body began to freefall. He was startled for a moment but soon found himself passing through galaxies, nebulae, stars, and black holes.

He passed through the entire universe before opening his eyes in the real world.

Godwyn took a deep breath, his eyes still wide from the little adventure that had just happened.

"Godwyn, you're awake!!!!"

Hearing Thalia's voice, Godwyn looked to the side and saw the girl carrying a bowl of soup with a tired expression. When the girl saw that he had woken up, she shouted in a loud and happy tone.

"I am a God, you ridiculous creature!" Godwyn said with an arrogant and presumptuous tone.

Suddenly, a punch hit his head, making him show a feigned expression of pain.

"Weak god!" Imitating Hulk's tone, Thalia said with a big smile on her lips.

"I'm back." Godwyn also smiled and said to Thalia.

"Welcome back." Thalia said with a smile.
