Chapter 48 - The Spear of Inevitable Death (II)
"Godwyn, it's good to see you alive; everyone is mourning your death." Sindri said with a relieved and slightly happy look. He seemed totally different from Brok, who was crude and rude, like a grumpy old man.
A look full of guilt appeared on Godwyn's face; he couldn't help but feel shame and guilt when facing Sindri. He knew more than anyone how cruel it was to fake his death; the people who cared about him surely mourned his death. Not only that, they would also go to the Front Line trying to avenge his death.
"Sorry, but to deceive the All-Father, I had to do it." Godwyn said with a look full of guilt. It was truly cruel to make his friends think he was dead.
"It's okay; the best apology is for you to be alive." Sindri spoke with a genuine tone of relief upon seeing Godwyn well and healthy. The news of his heroic death greatly shook the dwarf; he felt hatred and anger towards Odin and the Greek Pantheon.
Godwyn seemed even more embarrassed by Sindri's words; he felt even more unworthy of having the respect of all races. However, he soon showed a determined look.
"If I hurt you, I swear you can ask anything of me." He said with a calm and deep look, looking at Sindri with sincerity.
"Then I have a request." Surprising everyone, including Brok, Sindri said with a gentle look.
Godwyn nodded, expecting an extremely difficult request or even a promise for the future, but Sindri's next words made the Norse demigod's eyes widen.
"My request is simple: just stay alive in the war to come." Sindri's voice made everyone around also show surprised looks, still shocked by such a simple request.
However, surprising everyone again, Godwyn shook his head and said with a calm and determined tone. "In this war, everyone can die; how could I stay safe knowing that everyone is risking their lives for freedom? So, your request is impossible; I have to fight alongside my companions, even if in the end I die."
Brok, Mimir, and Thalia smiled; this was the Godwyn who made everyone want to be his friend, a friend who could fight alongside them even in dangerous moments. There was a reason Godwyn was everyone's friend: because he could risk his life for you.
Only a fool wouldn't want to be friends with a man of that level.
Sindri sighed, but there was a gentle smile. "I know my request is impossible, but I still wanted to try. Unlike our old bones, you are so young that you shouldn't be getting involved in this war predicted millions of years ago."
"Don't worry; my bones may not be old and strong, but they are certainly enough to hurt the One-Eyed." Godwyn laughed at Sindri's words and spoke with an amused tone, not fearing the consequences of the battle.
If he died, he would accept death with open arms; it was just dying once more; there was no fear.
Not when he was literally becoming the physical personification of death itself.
"What a touching dialogue, but instead of crying like women after a reunion, get your ugly ass up and let's work." Brok spoke with a rude and hoarse tone, not caring about breaking the atmosphere of the environment.
Thalia rolled her eyes hearing Brok's words; she showed a threatening look and spoke with a fierce tone. "Be careful, blue ice cream, I can make you cry like a woman."
Brok looked at Godwyn with pity; he could only lament Godwyn's sad fate for marrying such a violent girl. However, Brok himself liked this type of woman; after all, an elegant and quiet woman would definitely be boring.
Without understanding the look Brok was giving him, Godwyn looked at Thalia and spoke calmly. "We have seven days to train before hunting a god."
Thalia showed an excited expression at Godwyn's words; the idea of hunting a god made her blood boil with emotion. Just imagining Annabeth and Luke's shocked expressions when they saw her again made the thunder girl smile maliciously.
"I'm going to kick your pretty ass." Thalia said with an excited tone, making Godwyn's face show a strange expression; he couldn't help but look at the girl with a suspicious look.
When it came to his ass, Godwyn always remained lucid; anyone who came near it would have a hole in the middle of their forehead. It might seem like paranoia, but with Zeus and other gods walking the earth, even boys had to be careful when leaving home.
Seeing Thalia, Godwyn was sure the girl had inherited some suspicious hobby from Zeus.
This time, it was Thalia's turn not to understand the strange look he was giving her. In her eyes, there was nothing wrong with finding an ass pretty; men liked to see, but women also liked to see.
"Stop looking at me like an idiot and let's fight." Taking Godwyn's hand and pulling him out of the house, she said with an impatient tone.
"I will leave my spear in your hands, Brok and Sindri." Godwyn said to the dwarf brothers before being pulled out of Sindri's house.
"You can train without worries; let us make your spear the best in the universe." Sindri spoke with a gentle tone.
"That's right, but don't kill yourselves; I don't want to collect body parts later." Brok spoke with an impatient tone and put on his gloves, ready to go back to forging.
-
A ten-meter-wide lightning bolt tore the ground while other smaller lightning bolts spread to the surroundings.
Godwyn quickly dodged the lightning bolt thrown by Thalia, but when he blinked, he saw a girl in front of him, her body covered in lightning, pointing her clenched fist towards his face.
Godwyn used his arms, defending Thalia's powerful punch; he recoiled three steps, but Thalia herself recoiled ten steps back.
"How is your body so strong?" Thalia asked with a discouraged tone; she didn't understand why there was such a big difference between them. Both were descendants of Divine Kings, but Godwyn was far superior to her in all aspects.
Honestly, if she didn't know Godwyn was a demigod, she would have thought he was a god pretending to be a demigod.
"Don't worry about it, but I have to say you've improved a lot." Godwyn said, changing the subject, looking at Thalia with a surprised look.
The girl's growth rate was extraordinary, to say the least. Thalia not only learned quickly but also had battle instincts that would shame battle veterans.
Although demigods had great instincts given their divine origin, Thalia was a complete anomaly when it came to learning to control her powers and growing in battle experience.
In six days, the girl evolved from a beginner soldier with some experience to an experienced soldier in many battles. Especially when it came to controlling her powers, she was on another level.
Thalia could now not only attack at long range but also attack in close combat, all at the same time. If Thalia had been fighting any other demigod, she would have emerged victorious without a doubt.
Unfortunately for her, Godwyn was her opponent. A demigod who was transforming into a primordial god at all times, strengthening himself every second that passed. This was not something Thalia could face, even being Zeus's daughter, an extremely powerful god.
Wiping the sweat from her forehead, Thalia approached and helped Godwyn wipe the sweat from his face with a cloth; there was a satisfied smile on her lips as she vigorously rubbed Godwyn's face with the cloth.
"Stop wiping; you want to tear off my face." Godwyn moved away and took the cloth from Thalia's hands, looking at the girl with dissatisfaction.
"You should be grateful to have such a beautiful girl helping you." Thalia crossed her arms under her breasts and spoke with a proud tone.
"Thank you, my princess." Godwyn said with a tone full of sarcasm.
"You're welcome." Thalia accepted Godwyn's words with a satisfied smile, not caring about the sarcasm in his tone.
Godwyn rolled his eyes, sighed. He noticed that Thalia was closer to him. At first, he found her presence so close to him strange, but now he was used to having such a violent girl by his side.
Poor Godwyn didn't know that he was increasingly entangled in the webs woven by Thalia, nor did he realize that he no longer found Thalia's closeness abnormal.
Seeing his expression, Thalia smiled and almost burst out laughing. It took six days, but Godwyn was increasingly relaxed by her side, showing that he had accepted her.
Suddenly, the sound of two extremely loud hammers sounded like an extremely loud thunder, shaking even the World Tree.
Godwyn looked at Sindri's House and could see an extremely strong golden light coming from the cracks in the door and through the window.
His spear was ready!

Important note: My condolences to Charlie Kirk's family. To die because of different political opinions is madness. I'm still horrified to see people celebrating the death of a man and thinking it's a happy thing that a woman has been widowed and two children orphaned. What a shitty world in which you die because some idiot thinks that only his opinion matters.
Again, my condolences to the family and may his children grow up well and healthy. As strong in character as their father.
