Chapter 47 - The Spear of Inevitable Death (I)
Godwyn didn't know what was happening around the Nine Worlds; he had already returned to Sindri's House by this point. He was increasingly anxious to see the creation of his spear, the spear that would accompany him for all eternity.
When Godwyn and Thalia returned from Helheim, both heard the sound of metal colliding. The powerful and sharp sound seemed to spread for miles, like thunder reverberating in the sky. Blow after blow, the hammerings were perpetual and endless.
The gigantic heat even made the world tree slightly warm, showing how terrible the heat of the dwarf forge was.
"Sindri, you sick bastard, hammer harder, you've turned into a woman, damn it!!!" Brok's irritated voice sounded, accompanied by even more hammer blows.
"Brother, be more polite; it's ugly to curse." A calmer and more peaceful voice sounded after Brok's. However, the hammerings continued to sound faster.
"Brok's brother seems different from Brok himself." Thalia commented with a laugh, comparing the personalities between the dwarf brothers.
Godwyn was not surprised; he knew both dwarf brothers. Their personalities were completely different from each other. Perhaps they hadn't come from the same womb; even Brok would doubt they were brothers.
"Let's meet the owner of the house that shelters us." Godwyn said with a smile, walking towards the house in front of him. Thalia nodded and followed behind Godwyn with a curious smile in her eyes.
"Golden Boy, after your spear is ready, what are we going to do?" Thalia asked with a smile. She was genuinely curious about the next steps, especially after experiencing the previous events.
"Our terrorist group... Cough, self-help group against tyranny needs strong members for our next steps." Godwyn, noticing he was saying the wrong group name, reiterated and spoke with a tone full of justice and solemnity.
Thalia rolled her eyes; she had already discovered that she had joined a terrorist group, but Godwyn still kept saying they were a Self-Help Group Against Tyranny. However, she didn't comment on it, only felt that things were getting more fun.
But Godwyn's next words made Thalia's eyes widen in shock, so much so that she stopped walking and stared at the blonde boy with her eyes wide open.
"To have stronger members, we need to turn you and me into gods." Godwyn said with a smile. "For that, we have to kill gods and usurp their Divine Positions. Currently, we are too weak, unable to defend ourselves from a surprise attack."
The reason his group was considered a terrorist group was this objective. No pantheon wanted to lose Divine Positions; it was the same as weakening the Pantheon itself. That's why it was strictly forbidden to enter other pantheons.
Such an act was no different from an act of war. Of course, this was for gods; demigods could still enter other pantheons, after all, there had never been a demigod killing a god and usurping a divine position.
"I can be a god?" Thalia asked with a still incredulous tone at the news. Not even in her wildest dreams did she imagine she would become a god. The mere idea of such a thing never crossed her mind.
"Yes, my future Goddess of Lightning and Thunder." Godwyn said, revealing his objective for Thalia in the future. As Zeus's daughter, nothing was more fitting than Thalia becoming a goddess of lightning and thunder.
Thalia felt her heart beat faster; a longing from the depths of her soul made her realize that her body and soul wanted her to become a goddess.
"First, we will keep the Watcher of Asgard, and I will become a god; then we will hunt a god for you." Godwyn said, taking Thalia's hand and pulling her into Sindri's house. He didn't even notice, but he was getting used to holding the girl's hand.
Godwyn didn't notice this, but Thalia did; there was a proud look on her face. Although she didn't know much about love, she knew that forming a habit was a terrible thing because one wouldn't even realize they were doing something surprising.
'The first step is done; now let's go with the second step.' Thalia thought mischievously. Since Godwyn was used to holding her hand, the next step was to get even closer to him, making her presence natural near him.
Even the news that she would become a goddess didn't seem as important as her plan to conquer Godwyn.
Poor Godwyn, he didn't know he was already walking into a web woven by Thalia, with the aim of devouring him in the future.
When both entered the house, a huge furnace could be seen burning fiercely with blue flames. Two dwarves could be seen hammering what appeared to be a prototype spear. One of the dwarves hammered the upper part of the spear while the other dwarf hammered the lower part of the spear.
The extremely high heat made the air seem to ripple like smoke, potentially causing some small mirages.
Godwyn was fine in front of this intense heat; his Divination process had already strengthened his body to a level no demigod had reached, but he was still far from the strength of a god. But Thalia was not well at all; she hid behind Godwyn and finally sighed with relief.
The heat seemed to dry out all the water from her body; in those seconds, her lips became dry while her hair became thinner and slightly wavy.
Seeing Godwyn well and protecting her from the heat, Thalia's face showed an expression of frustration. Since following Godwyn, she realized that she wouldn't be of much help; Godwyn's enemies were powerful gods, and she couldn't even fight high-level monsters like Ladon.
The idea of becoming a goddess strengthened in Thalia's mind, just as Godwyn said, demigods were not of much help against truly powerful enemies.
Suddenly, the sound of metal colliding stopped.
"This is fucking tiring." Brok said as he wiped the sweat from his face with an old, dirty cloth.
Upon seeing the scene, Sindri felt an urge to vomit. Thinking of vomiting, the dwarf in golden armor quickly went towards the bathroom with extremely fast steps.
"What happened to him?" Thalia asked, drinking a large amount of water. The forge was still on, and the spear still had an incandescent glow.
"He can't stand dirt." Brok said with a cruel smile, satisfied to make his brother suffer a little more.
"He has misophobia." Godwyn said, remembering Sindri's extreme fear of any dirt. Honestly, he always felt that Sindri should be more suited to be a doctor than a blacksmith.
Thalia nodded; she knew how bad it was to have that kind of illness because she also had dyslexia and ADHD, which made her school life a true hell on earth. How can you learn when the letters fly before you?
"How were the negotiations?" Brok asked with a serious tone. "Are we going to team up and kick the All-Father's ass?"
"Four realms are already on our side; Hela and Loki will contact other rulers." Godwyn replied with a smile. Things were easier than expected. The hatred the gods felt against Odin was a fundamental factor for all this to happen.
Godwyn felt Hela and Loki's gaze, but soon that gaze disappeared, seeing that it was Godwyn speaking their names.
"That's good; we're closer to killing the one-eyed jerk." Brok was also satisfied with the war situation. He was giving his soul, blood, and body to build a weapon capable of rivaling Gungnir; the least he wanted was to see Odin's death.
"Do I have a deadline to receive my spear?" Looking at the spear still burning in the forge, Godwyn asked with a more anxious tone to hold his spear.
"It will take seven days." Brok took a sip of water and spoke with a hoarse but confident tone. "It will be the best weapon you've ever seen, surpassing even Mjolnir."
"But, from my experience, this spear will have the weight of some planets; it will be extremely heavy; even Thor wouldn't be able to lift this spear." Brok spoke with a solemn tone, making Thalia's eyes widen in shock.
Even being terrible at math classes, she knew that a planet was extremely heavy, much less the weight of some planets together!
Godwyn showed no concern, but was happy with the news. The more extraordinary the spear, the stronger it would be in his hands.
"What's more, I've noticed that the weight of the spear is gradually increasing, I don't really know the final result of the spear or the level it will be able to reach when it's ready." Seeing that Godwyn was not afraid, but excited, Brok spoke with a proud smile.
That was why he had said that this spear would surpass Mjolnir.
Just imagining a spear with the weight of an entire solar system made Brok's blood boil with excitement. Being the creator of such a weapon would really make him known not only in the Nordic Pantheon, but in all the Pantheons of the Cosmos!
