Percy Jackson and The Wizarding World

Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Prophecies Collide

Percy Jackson was starting to think that Hogwarts was just another version of Camp Half-Blood—except with more homework and fewer monsters trying to kill him. The past few days had been a whirlwind of new experiences, from potion explosions to broomstick mishaps, but Percy's instincts told him that something darker lurked beneath the surface of the castle's magic.

Sitting in the Great Hall during breakfast, Percy prodded his eggs with his fork, watching the other students chat excitedly about an upcoming Hogsmeade trip. He sighed, missing the familiarity of his demigod friends. No Annabeth to lecture him, no Grover to offer ridiculous advice. Just wizards and witches who had no idea what he really was.

"You alright, Percy?" Harry asked from across the table, his green eyes studying him.

"Yeah," Percy muttered, shaking himself out of his thoughts. "Just… thinking."

"About what?" Hermione chimed in, always the curious one.

Percy hesitated, forcing a smile. "Just wondering if the food here ever runs out. Seriously, this place feeds like a whole army every day."

Ron grinned. "Nah, mate, the house-elves keep it coming. Hogwarts never runs out of food."

Percy chuckled, though inside, his mind was racing. He had bigger things to worry about than food—like staying hidden and figuring out why the Fates had sent him here. And then there was that nagging feeling in the back of his head. A sense of unease. Like something—or someone—was watching him.

His suspicions were confirmed when a regal-looking owl swooped down and dropped a thick, black envelope in front of him. The Hogwarts students nearby gasped, recognizing the seal: a silver trident crossed with a wand.

"What's that?" Hermione asked, leaning in.

Percy's stomach churned. "No idea," he lied, quickly opening it.

Inside was a single sheet of parchment, written in elegant, flowing script:

"The past and the future intertwine, Son of Poseidon. Fate is not done with you yet. Seek the one who guards the Chamber, and beware the shadows lurking within Hogwarts' walls."

Percy clenched the note, his heartbeat quickening. Hecate's warnings about blending in were becoming harder to follow. He was supposed to lay low, but now it seemed like there was something—or someone—expecting him to take action.

"Percy?" Hermione pressed again.

He stuffed the note into his robes. "Just a letter from home," he said, forcing a smile. "Nothing important."

Hermione didn't look convinced, but thankfully, Ron had already turned the conversation to Quidditch tryouts, and Percy let himself fade into the background. Whatever was going on, he had a feeling it had something to do with that mysterious Chamber mentioned in the note.

Later, in the Library…

Percy sat in a quiet corner of the library, poring over a book about Hogwarts' history. He had barely flipped through a few pages when a familiar voice spoke beside him.

"You won't find what you're looking for in there," said a smooth, cold voice.

Percy looked up to see Draco Malfoy standing beside him, his arms crossed. "I didn't know you could read, Malfoy," Percy shot back.

Draco sneered but ignored the jab. "I've noticed you asking a lot of questions about the castle. What's the matter? Worried Hogwarts is too much for you, American?"

Percy leaned back in his chair, playing it cool. "Let's just say I like to know my surroundings."

Malfoy smirked. "Well, if you're looking for legends, you should start with the Chamber of Secrets. Old wizarding myth, but I'm sure you'd find it… interesting."

Percy narrowed his eyes. "The Chamber of Secrets?"

Draco's smirk widened. "Ask around. I'm sure someone will fill you in… if you survive long enough to hear it."

With that cryptic remark, Malfoy walked off, leaving Percy even more suspicious.

In the Common Room…

"Okay, so let me get this straight," Percy said, sitting on one of the Gryffindor couches later that night. "There's a hidden chamber somewhere in this castle that only a 'true heir' of Slytherin can open, and no one's been able to prove it's real?"

Hermione nodded, her expression serious. "The Chamber of Secrets is one of Hogwarts' most dangerous myths. Salazar Slytherin supposedly built it to house a monster that would rid the school of anyone unworthy of magic."

Percy frowned. "Let me guess. 'Unworthy' means non-purebloods, right?"

"Exactly," Hermione confirmed.

"Sounds like some typical jerk god nonsense," Percy muttered under his breath. "And people think demigods have it bad."

Harry leaned forward. "Why are you so interested in this, Percy?"

Percy hesitated. "I just… I have a feeling there's more to it. You guys ever hear of something weird happening lately? Disappearances? Strange stuff?"

Harry exchanged a glance with Hermione and Ron. "A few odd things. Rumors of something prowling the halls late at night. People say it's a ghost or Peeves messing around."

Percy rubbed his chin. "I think it's worth checking out."

Ron looked at him like he was insane. "You're mad, mate. Do you know how dangerous that is?"

Percy smirked. "Danger's kind of my thing."

That Night…

Percy crept through the darkened halls of Hogwarts, Riptide clutched tightly in his hand—well, technically his wand was out, but the familiar weight of his sword reassured him.

"This is a bad idea," he muttered to himself.

Following the map Hecate had given him, he made his way toward the lower levels of the castle. As he approached the entrance to the dungeons, he heard a faint hissing sound. He froze, his instincts screaming at him.

He wasn't alone.

Percy ducked behind a statue and peeked out. In the dim corridor ahead, he saw a shadow slithering across the stone floor. It moved too smoothly, too silently.

Something's down here.

Taking a deep breath, he whispered, "Lumos," and his wand tip lit up, revealing the long, sinuous tail of what could only be described as a giant serpent disappearing around the corner.

Percy gripped his wand tighter. "Oh, great. A snake. Just what I needed."
