Chapter 21: 20. Laughter judgement[Arc 2. Sinful colors]
"'Smile and laugh makes everyone happy!'" That's what I thought, so I always make a divisive face, relaxing my face, curl up the corners of my mouth, show 8–10 teeth, crinkle my eyes, and relax my jaw; those are the tips that servants always remind me of every day.
I almost mastered the sorcery of smiling, but every time I put on a grin, a huge hole inside me was getting bigger and bigger until I couldn't feel any joy with that mask. I suddenly wished I had an older brother who would fill the gap inside my tormented heart; things worked smoothly, and my wish came true.
Time swallowed the past, and my days became waves of sweet bread. I ate them, healing myself, but my head still turned into an exploding volcano, and sweat flooded my body.
Hoping for light to brush around me, I silently gazed at my father's position. All I could hear was my heart bursting with a huge blast. My mind was telling me to move, and the whisper of my life wanted me to rest. Before I could respond, my mind felt the unknown prevalence that was waving gently.
It felt like I was in the deepest and highest place, a towering and modest room. All I could see and hear was the quiet grin of emptiness.
"Wake up! I heard your tears!"
I opened my eyes, but nothing was there; it was only silver light around. The light turned into a spiral wave and slowly changed into a loop of blurry scenes.
A man with a menacing aura was raging with tattered lightning blasts. He mimicked his eyes with thunder eyes. The fear and trembling I felt before were gone; the warmth sensation flooded my veins, drowning everything.
"You are chosen to be the guardian of laughter," a creaking voice entered my ears.
[You have obtained a new title {Laughter bearer}]
[New aura placed within your body; you are blessed by the angel of laughter]
My head struck the table of fate with its peak. I moved my body; the seal of movement broke, and I stood up. The ground seemed to be slipping, and I fell down. Gripping the tension inside my body, I regained my posture and glared at the head judge, Marquez the Wise.
He was standing and wiping his sweat; his face was painted with a smirk. He shifted his gaze to me, looking bewildered. In a blink of a second, he appeared in front of me and spread his arms widely. I parried it, crossing my hands.
His strike didn't hurt me. He made another striking pose, and I also prepared to block it with my hands. Instead of a swung pounce, a right kick snuck at my lower body.
I was tickled by it, and the smile on my face became eminent, like I was going to a crazy spin. The tickling sensation brushed into my head, making me laugh harder.
His smirk turned to unease; he stopped his attack and bit his lips. "Princess! How incredible! Let me praise you even more at your funeral!" he muttered, spinning his eyeballs.
His voice made me laugh even louder; it sounded like a joke. He gripped his fist, and a dark aura gathered around him. I set myself around him and continued to smack his face. He grabbed my neck, but my golden barrier prevented him from touching me even further.
"For this revenge, your sweet awakening was nothing to be feared!" he muttered, glancing at the apothecary who was trembling his feet.
I started to feel dizzy, and my sight seemed blurry. A swung sword flashed at my back; luckily, I managed to dodge it in a few seconds. However, I was wrapped by Hippocrates using his curse seal. An echo of a healing melody unsealed me from his seal.
The apothecary bit his middle finger, and Lady Mirae's belly was struck by a muddy blizzard. Her mouth slowly sprouted some green liquid; a poison from the mud entered her body, but because of her self-anti-poison ability, the toxin was forced to be expelled.
Lady Kimberly also re-entered the battle and muttered a spell, but before she could finish her enchantment, Mister Ronson dashed and kicked her off. She was struck in her stomach and rolled like a ball.
After seeing the scene, Lady Kiyara tried to attack Mister Ronson. She widely swung her arms, and Mister Ronson was hit in the face.
I quickly snuck up and went to my parents to check on them. Their bodies were slowly pricking with cold, menacing poison. I unsealed them, but after doing so, the seal wrapped my body. After it touched my tiny body, the seal dissolved instantly.
A huge shadow stood behind me. I shifted my gaze and saw an elf; her face was pale and dead, and her skin was grayish. Her eyes almost fell down, and her body smelled odd. I gripped my hands and almost jumped in fear. I narrowed my eyes and struck her with my fist without even looking at her. My little hands didn't reach their supposed place; she grabbed my fist with her frosty hand.
I almost shouted, but I felt a little happy around me, even though the situation was turning around; I really felt joyful. I fought back and made a blow to her arm; her bone broke, and her hand was left holding my fist.
The waves of the wind breeze began to change their course and flew to the west. Elder Marquez gazed upon my eyes with a dreadful smile; he slowly walked towards my position and tried to blast me with his aura.
I clinched my tiny grip and focused my attention on the man walking towards me. I felt the silence, even though everyone was fighting and begging for salvation. His figure seemed to walk slowly, and a golden lightning illuminated my area. I successfully managed to unleash my aura and rebutted him with a grin.
Meanwhile, a few minutes away from the Capulet mansion, Miku was walking silently while gazing at the towering light emerging from the mansion. He thought it was telling him that the Princess had successfully awakened her potential. He changed his gaze to the sixth moon slowly raising in the cloudless sky.
The golden ball of light enlightened the dark path ahead. He pondered the nearest possibility that his counter-plan was turning into a mistake. He thought that if that happened, his hidden agenda might be revealed, so he needed to act now.
He clinched his fingers, and a dark leather book appeared out of thin air. He flipped the pages and tried to recall the memories of the White Devil that he had locked in those pages.
He touched the letters, and a surging memory ran through his veins. The dark secrets and the hidden emotions of the White Devil welcomed him. He quietly scanned the memories, looking for valuable knowledge. A piece of a memory was hazy and mysterious to him: the existence of the unknown person who manipulated him to kill the royals of Tanozo. He thought maybe the extermination plan of Marquez the Wise was similar to that, so he dug further but found nothing but a little hint.
He assumed that the great elf was being manipulated or something. He recalled the riddle that Kiyara had given him while he was asking about Marquez's behavior.
From what he recalled, Marquez the Wise had a family before; he heard it from the servants talking about the elven court. Although he had no other time to dig any further, it was enough for him to act. He flicked his fingers, and the book disappeared into thin air.
He once again looked up into the sky and reminisced the voice of his sister calling for his help. He smirked and laughed silently.
"Poor little elf, your downfall is near and now waving!" he muttered, glancing back to his path.
Two contrasting lights illuminated from the top of the Capulet mansion. Miku ignored the sign and poured his body into his mist. He was waiting for the fish to take his hook, and it looked like he was getting bored and started to catch the fish with his own arms.
Meanwhile, a man with a hooded face was sitting on the rooftop of the mansion, glaring at the fight. His eyes gleamed like a boar as the light of the moon struck him. He placed his index finger to his lips, and cascading tears dropped from his eyes. "How unfortunate!" he mumbled, smirking widely.
