Chapter 325: Chapter 325: Battle Against the Calamity
Dressrosa,
The royal palace square, now turned battlefield.
"Roman! You're here—"
Luffy's excited shout left Roman speechless under his helmet. In the future, if his identity gets exposed, it'll definitely be because of Luffy!
But—
It doesn't matter.
Roman had long pitched the Five Elders a grand plan of "using pirates to deal with pirates." Based on the Straw Hat Crew's track record, they'd naturally "help" the World Government take down numerous major threats along the way. So—
As long as the Five Elders played deaf and blind, Roman's double-agent identity would hold up, especially given his connections with the Marine high-ups. And he didn't need to keep it up for long. Once the Straw Hat Crew reached Laugh Tale, the final showdown would begin...
That's thinking too far ahead. For now, let's deal with the situation at hand.
"Did I miss something fun?"
With 'The White Knight' Roman's dramatic arrival, the battlefield paused momentarily. All eyes turned to him.
"Fufufufufu, another one here to die?"
Doflamingo glanced at Roman, his signature laugh and arrogant demeanor exuding "welcome."
"So, you're the magician who caused a scene at the arena?"
"You've been hiding this whole time—scared stiff by the Three Disasters' reputation, huh? And now, you've finally decided to join your 'comrades' in hell?"
"Ah, no."
The White Knight waved dismissively.
"I was just out 'having a chat' with Big Mom's crew."
"After accidentally poking a hole in the Queen Mama Chanter, they went back home."
??!! This....
"Haha! That's Roman for you!"
Luffy laughed, adjusting his straw hat.
"Next time, let's send them flying together!"
"I've told you, my name is Neo… never mind, as long as you're happy."
Roman rolled his eyes, already wondering if he should just take off his helmet and reveal himself. With Luffy around, what's the point of pretending?
"These guys are insane!"
Doflamingo's forehead veins bulged with frustration. It was already outrageous that the Straw Hat crew's captain, Luffy, and Law dared to go against him. Now, even when faced with one of his trump cards—Jack, one of Kaido's Three Disasters—they still showed no fear and kept shouting for a fight.
And now their "strategist" returns, claiming to have just gone head-to-head with another Emperor, Big Mom. What kind of lunatics are these so-called "Worst Generation"? Are they all out of their minds?!
"Done talking?"
A calm voice echoed through the battlefield. It belonged to the massive mammoth standing there, its head adorned with a high ponytail and two long braided tusks. Jack's gaze landed on Roman, cold and ruthless.
"Then it's time for you to die."
From the conversation just now, it was clear that this fully-armored figure was with the Straw Hat crew—an enemy, plain and simple.
And enemies are meant to be eliminated.
**Boom!**
As the mammoth took a single step, the entire battlefield seemed to sink under its weight. The granite ground beneath it cracked open in massive, jagged lines, continuing to collapse downward.
This wasn't a deliberate show of force or intimidation. The mammoth was simply so heavy that even granite couldn't bear its weight.
The next second, its speed surged! What happened next shocked everyone.
The solid granite plaza in front of the palace twisted and flew apart in an instant. And all of this was caused by the mammoth charging forward. Like a raging horse galloping across a fragile carpet, the ground beneath it couldn't withstand the overwhelming force, breaking apart in waves, rising into the air, and shattering into chaos.
Granite, stones, and the sand underneath were blasted into the air, scattering in all directions. Anything in the mammoth's path—whether Doflamingo's men or gladiators from the colosseum—was sent flying by the sheer force of the charge. Flesh and blood twisted and stretched mid-air as though torn apart by some mythical giant.
The terrifying impact struck faster than sound and even outpaced gravity. The path behind the mammoth resembled a zero-gravity zone where everything lay shattered and distorted.
Even the expressions of those in its path contorted as shockwaves from the ground rippled through their faces before they could even fully process the terror. Their muscles shook uncontrollably, like waves left by a massive Sea King rushing by. They couldn't even lift their weapons to fight back.
But this didn't apply to Roman!
"Bring it on!"
Let's see how strong one of the Three Disasters really is.
As the massive mammoth closed in, its tusks swept forward with piercing sharpness and an unstoppable force. Roman, wrapped in his White Knight armor, spread his arms without fear. He reached forward and grabbed the curved tusks with precision.
"Armament–"
"More More: 50x Strength Boost!"
The White Knight held firm against the mammoth's charge. The clash of their Armament Haki erupted into a storm of energy between them, sending out countless black shockwaves that obliterated everything in their path.
A moment later, the deafening roar of the collision finally exploded.
Boom!!!
A powerful shockwave rippled through the air, creating water-like waves. Violent winds surged outward with the two fighters at the center, sending sand, rocks, and dirt flying everywhere, dimming even the sunlight. Wherever the tremors reached, solid granite buildings cracked and collapsed in pieces. Support columns snapped clean in half, and the entire area twisted, deformed, and tumbled.
Within moments, the area spanning several hundred meters became a wasteland, leaving other "elite fighters" visibly shaken as they quickly retreated. Those who were weaker—akin to paper caught in a storm—were instantly crushed to death.
Though many of these weaker combatants had bounties in the range of seventy or eighty million berries...
The rampaging mammoth finally came to a stop. Though its eyes burned with fury, and its overwhelming strength continued to surge like a raging tide, the opponent's hands holding him remained completely steady. At the same time, countless tiny cuts appeared on the mammoth's massive body, with blood spraying outward and dyeing its fur bright red.
------------------
Roman swayed slightly, like a willow in the wind, but his feet stayed firmly planted. He didn't move a single step back. Beneath his armor, his face turned a dark red for a moment before returning to normal, as he swallowed down the blood rising in his throat.
Impressive!
While it seemed evenly matched on the surface, Roman had taken internal damage, while the mammoth had external injuries. Roman was at a disadvantage.
Roman was slightly outmatched by Jack in sheer power and Armament Haki while in his beast form. But:
"Fighting isn't just about brute strength."
In an instant, Roman, who had just fought like a berserker against the giant mammoth, pulled back all his strength, transforming into soft, floating sheets of paper.
Jack, who was still pressing forward with all his might, suddenly felt the force holding him disappear. The overwhelming power Roman had just been exerting vanished without a trace, leaving Jack unable to react in time.
The mammoth's massive body lurched forward, and before Jack could regain his balance, Roman, now as *The White Knight,* grabbed hold of his tusks. With incredible speed and strength, Roman swung him around in a whirlwind for several rotations before slamming him headfirst into the ground.
"Kami-e: Earth Slam!"
Boom!!!
Another thunderous impact echoed out, as if Mount Tai had fallen and a massive hammer had struck the earth. The ground trembled violently, and in the midst of the rumbling, the long-abused plaza cracked open. A massive, bottomless crevice, over twenty meters wide, appeared.
Surrounding buildings collapsed, sending even more smoke and dust into the sky.
When masters clash, it's like a human-shaped natural disaster. And these two were melee specialists. If Logia-type users of their level were involved, the destruction would have been a hundred times worse.
Strike while the enemy is down!
Roman didn't believe in waiting for an opponent to recover out of some sense of honor. His white-armored figure dove into the crevice, followed by a series of deafening crashes. The sounds echoed like cannon fire or roaring jets, reverberating across the battlefield. The air filled with an endless "buzzing" that reached up to the clouds.
"More More-50x Shock Punch!"
In a flash, Roman, clad in his *White Knight* armor, delivered dozens of heavy punches, each glowing with energy rings, to Jack's body. The mammoth, caught off-guard and unable to regain his balance, roared furiously, releasing an explosion of searing hot Armament Haki from every pore.
"Drought - Scorched Earth!"
The ground kept cracking and shattering, with chunks flying into the air under the violent assault of Armament Haki. Waves of Haki collisions spread outward in cold, unfeeling ripples, as if everything in their path were as fragile as cheese. Spiderweb-like cracks radiated from the battlefield's center, snaking outward like countless raging serpents slithering across the ground—more and more, bigger and bigger. The entire palace plateau trembled and groaned under the chaos.
"So damn tough."
After the explosive clash, Roman's figure, light as a willow leaf, floated back with the force of the Haki shockwaves. The surface of his White Knight armor was scorched and smoking from the intense heat of his opponent's attacks. But with a slight shake, the damaged parts of the armor fell away, revealing fresh, unscathed plating underneath.
"Had enough? Then it's my turn!"
Amid the swirling dust and smoke, Jack, now in his human form, launched into the air like a cannonball, radiating intense heat. His crescent-shaped scythes came slashing down toward Roman. Despite the clear dents left by dozens of punches on his massive body, the marks were slowly shrinking, showing that they hadn't caused any lasting damage.
This was the advantage of Zoan-type Devil Fruits in their advanced stages: high defense and rapid healing. Practically unkillable, these users could grind down their opponents with sheer endurance, especially with Armament Haki reinforcing them.
Whoosh!!
The crescent scythe came down hard, unleashing a slash over 100 meters long. The attack forced everyone nearby to retreat further. Roman, however, simply tilted his head slightly, letting the weapon graze harmlessly past his helmet.
"In terms of strength, Haki, and durability, I might not match you."
But when it came to agility, movement, and quick dodging skills, Jack couldn't hold a candle to Roman.
The problem was, at this rate, things would drag on.
The fight between Roman and Jack had devolved into a one-sided chase: Jack couldn't land a hit on Roman, and Roman couldn't take Jack down. Not because Roman couldn't hurt him, but because Jack's Zoan recovery would likely require days of constant attacks to overcome.
Forget it, this is fine for now.
Roman's goal was just to take care of Jack as an unpredictable variable.
As long as Luffy defeated Doflamingo, Fujitora wouldn't have a reason to "hold back." And once Fujitora got serious, Jack would have no choice but to surrender.
**PS:** About Jack's abilities—
I spent the whole day rereading One Piece, and I couldn't find a single instance of Jack using any "special moves." He just spammed basic attacks the whole time. It's exhausting to watch! Back in Enies Lobby, Zoan users were showcasing all sorts of creative powers. Now in Wano, it's just: "My Haki is stronger than yours!" So I had to add a little flair myself.
