Chapter 16: Chapter 16 You are not simple_1
Ye Ge was staying in Uncle Zhou's ancestral home.
The ancestral home was quite old, as old as Nan Feng's house.
However, the outer wall of Uncle Zhou's house had been recently renovated. All the big and small holes had been filled, and the windows were newly made. Next to the house was a ladder, probably meant for roof repairs in the near future.
Of course, all these tasks were handled by Ye Ge.
"Would you like to come in for a while?" Ye Ge asked.
"No need, let's just practice outside," Nan Feng lightly smiled and replied.
Uncle Zhou might not be at home, and Nan Feng felt it would be inappropriate to go in. Not to mention that it's an ancient era, even in her original time, it would not have been proper.
"Then you wait here for a while," Ye Ge said and went inside the house.
It was still morning, the dew was not completely dissipated. The old locust tree in the yard was still damp, and a few droplets fell when the wind blew.
Nan Feng was growing to appreciate the air in the mountains more and more. It lacked the exhaust fumes of cars, the rising dust and smog, and the noise of various machines. It only had the scent of soil mixed with the aroma of green grass and mountain air.
Well then, since she's already here, she might as well enjoy it.
Ye Ge returned shortly, holding a few things in his hand, a bow and arrow, and a long spear.
Due to her former profession, Nan Feng was quite sensitive to weapons. Seeing these items, her eyes sparkled with a sharp light.
Ye Ge caught this glimpse in her eyes.
He asked, "Do you know how to use these? The arrows can help you shoot prey from a distance, and the spear is for close combat."
Nan Feng shook her head, "I've never used them before, can you show me how, Ye Ge?"
Ye Ge nodded, then asked Nan Feng to step back. He drew the bow and arrow, aimed at a stone near the fence and began explaining with a calm tone, "When pulling the bow, the line connecting your eye and the arrowhead should line up with the target's surface, generally speaking..."
Nan Feng was listening intently.
But she was captivated by Ye Ge's posture when he was drawing the bow. He was usually hunched over when walking, but the pose of drawing the bow was commanding and wild, displaying a strong masculinity.
A gust of wind blew, lifting the hem of his coarse hemp gown, revealing the firm muscles of his abdomen and the faint lines of his abs.
For a moment, Nan Feng felt her face flush.
Just then, a "whoosh" sound brought Nan Feng back to her senses. Looking in the direction of the sound, she saw an arrow embedded in the stone by the fence.
Nan Feng froze for a few seconds, then quickly ran to the stone. Seeing the arrow, she couldn't help but gasp.
It was incredible, a third of the arrowhead was embedded in the stone. How profound must his martial arts skills be to achieve such a result?
Nan Feng was still astounded when a warm breath came from behind her.
She turned around, her gaze sharp, "You're not as simple as you seem."
With no expression on his face, Ye Ge pulled out the arrow and wiped it with his sleeve before calmly saying, "Are you simple?"
Nan Feng's heart skipped a beat.
Worried that he might suspect her origins, Nan Feng tentatively said, "The men in the village, even the hunters, their arrows don't carry as much inner power as yours do. It's obvious you've had martial arts training, that's why I said you're not ordinary. But why do you say I'm not ordinary? I'm very normal, I don't have your kind of skills."
Ye Ge looked at her, "You're not like the women in the village. They are all afraid of me, but you dare to talk to me, dare to let me teach you archery, dare to go hunting in the mountains. That's what makes you extraordinary. You seem like you're from the Capital City."
