Overlord: The Multiverse

Chapter 189: Chapter 189: Refining

"Ah, so refining it would prevent the Sacred Gear from corrupting a weaker wearer," I mused aloud, my thoughts already racing with the new possibilities this could open up. Eternal Damnation could become far more versatile, allowing even those who might not be as powerful to wield it safely without fearing its darker side.

The Guardians stood silently around me, their gazes fixed on me with intense interest. It was almost like they were in a library, the air thick with anticipation and curiosity. None of them spoke, and even the usually chatty Aura and the ever-watchful Albedo seemed to understand that this was a moment not to be interrupted.

As I mulled over the implications, the idea of refining the Sacred Gear grew more appealing. Removing its impurities would ensure that we weren't limited by who could handle its power. Instead of being a tool reserved only for the strongest, Eternal Damnation could be wielded by anyone in our ranks, making it a more valuable addition to our arsenal. The risk of corruption would be eliminated, allowing us to use it in a variety of strategic scenarios without hesitation.

After a brief moment of consideration, I made my decision. "Alright, let's do this," I declared, my voice breaking the silence in the amphitheater. "No point in having a powerful tool like this if it can't be used properly."

With that, I mentally summoned the required Karma Points, feeling the familiar sensation of the points being deducted from my total. A notification from my system followed almost immediately.

[You have purchased the Artifact Refinery.]

Another prompt appeared in my mind.

[Do you wish to use it?]

I didn't hesitate. "Yes," I said aloud, my voice steady with resolve.

The process began instantly, though none of the Guardians could see what was happening. I felt a subtle shift in the air as the Artifact Refinery activated, a surge of energy swirling around the Sacred Gear in my possession. I couldn't see it with my eyes, but I could feel the power being refined, purified, made more potent and more controlled.

[Using Artifact Refinery.]

[Refining the Sacred Gear: Eternal Damnation.]

The system displayed a progress bar in my mind, ticking upward slowly but surely.

[10% >>> 25% >>> 45% >>> 60% >>> 80% >>> 90% >>> 99% >>> 100%]

Finally, after what felt like both an eternity and a mere moment, the process was complete.

[Congratulations! Refining the Sacred Gear: Eternal Damnation was successful.]

I felt the difference immediately. The power of Eternal Damnation was still there, but now it was smoother, more refined, like a blade that had been sharpened to perfection. The impurities were gone, leaving behind only the pure, undiluted strength of the Sacred Gear.

The Guardians, though they hadn't seen the process, seemed to sense the change. I could see it in the way they looked at me, with even more respect and awe than before. They knew something significant had just occurred, even if they couldn't fully comprehend it.

I reached out and withdrew Eternal Damnation from within myself, feeling the Sacred Gear materialize in my hand. The first thing I noticed was the change in its appearance. While the structure of the energy ball remained the same, its color had shifted. Where it once glowed with a light red hue, it now radiated a deep, vibrant blue, a testament to its refined state.

The Guardians watched in silent awe, their eyes fixed on the newly transformed Sacred Gear. Though they hadn't witnessed the refining process, the change in Eternal Damnation was evident. It was as if the very essence of the Gear had been elevated, its power now more controlled and potent.

Demiurge, always observant, was the first to speak. "Alex-sama, the change in its color... Does this signify the removal of its impurities?"

It seems Demiurge knew it had impurities but he can't do anything about it.

Figure.

I nodded, still examining the energy ball in my hand. "Yes. I give a final refining to this artifact. The impurities are gone, and now it's a weapon that can be wielded safely by anyone without fear of corruption."

Albedo stepped closer, her eyes fixed on the glowing blue orb. "It's beautiful, Alex-sama. And now, even more dangerous to your enemies."

"Who are you going to give this to, my Lord." Demiurge asked.

I glanced at Demiurge, who was watching me intently. His question was a valid one. He knew as well as anyone that Eternal Damnation was not something I intended to keep for myself. Despite its immense power, it didn't align with my personal needs and abilities. I had other tools and abilities at my disposal that better suited my style of combat.

"I haven't decided yet," I replied thoughtfully, still turning the energy ball over in my hand. "But it needs to go to someone who can truly utilize its power to the fullest. Someone who can wield it without hesitation and can make the most of its capabilities."

Demiurge nodded, seemingly satisfied with my response. "A wise decision, Alex-sama. The right wielder could turn the tide of any battle with this in their hands."

"Indeed," I agreed. "But choosing the right person is crucial. Whoever takes it must be ready to bear its power and use it wisely."

Albedo looked thoughtful as she considered potential candidates. "There are many who would covet such power, but few who are truly worthy of it."

Shalltear added, "Whoever you choose, Alex-sama, I know they will honor your decision and use it to bring glory to Nazarick."

"For now, it will remain in our vault, I have some idea who I am going to give it to."

Then he continue, "now then, I have an something say to all of you, next week important people from Underworld will be coming for making important decision between Nazarick and Underworld."
