Chapter 676: The Lost Little Fox
"I'm back."
As night fell, Dorothy returned to the Yae Residence after helping the old lady plant several acres of Spirit Fields.
"Welcome back, Senior Sister."
Audrey, who had been waiting at the door, hurried over to greet her upon hearing the sound.
"Um, aren't they back yet?"
Seeing the rather quiet courtyard, the homebody witch looked at the junior sister in confusion.
"Mm, everyone is quite busy."
The Little Fox nodded upon hearing, but her expression seemed slightly lost.
"I'm the only one who can't help at all."
She lowered her head and said dejectedly.
In response, Dorothy was momentarily speechless, unsure how to comfort this junior sister.
The homebody witch herself has been working at the construction site during this time, while Sophia took over managing the demolition progress across Japan Island, a task that Dorothy herself wasn't good at, as she particularly disliked dealing with those who refuse to move. Having her roommate to help was indeed very fortunate.
Aunt Yae and Spider Teacher have also been coming and going early and late, these two have been searching everywhere for Dragon Vein Qi and planning the Great Barrier of Japan Island.
It seemed that only Audrey had nothing to do in the family and could only be the housekeeper.
Unfortunately, the construction site at the public toilet has too many people, making it impossible for the socially anxious Little Fox to dare go there, and Sophia's area is even more direct in dealings with people, which is even harder for the Little Fox.
As for Aunt Yae and Spider Teacher, these two doctoral mentors' research was incomprehensible to Audrey, a high school student, let alone joining in.
"Senior Sister, am I very useless?"
The Little Fox even drooped her fluffy nine tails behind her. On her shoulder, the tiny Fox Doll, speaking on her behalf, appeared dispirited as well.
The state of the junior sister immediately made Dorothy's heart tighten.
Uh oh, recently indulging in construction work, she forgot to care for the stay-at-home junior sister at home, which is very detrimental to the young one's psychological health.
Audrey is originally a severely socially anxious child, not exactly healthy mentally, even counting as introverted. If she gets hit with self-esteem issues, it might become truly problematic.
The witches may be stronger than mortals in power, but their psychological resilience is not much stronger. Dorothy's family already has a senior sister with a mental issue; she certainly doesn't want this lovely junior sister to turn depressive.
"No way, I must think of a way to enlighten the junior sister."
Thinking of this, the homebody witch pondered for a moment and then thought of something.
Professional matters should be handled by professional people. This caregiving task indeed requires consulting the motherly Senior Mia.
Speaking of which, she hasn't seen the senior sister for a long time due to being engrossed in construction and might as well pay her a visit now.
"That's not true; my junior sister is the cutest in the world, don't think too much. Come on, since everyone's working overtime tonight, let's go find Senior Mia and grab a meal."
Dorothy reached out to rub the junior sister's head, thus speaking.
"Okay, whatever you say, Senior Sister."
Feeling the warmth of the senior sister's palm, the Little Fox's fluffy ears on her head twitched twice, barely picking up a little spirit, but just a little, not much.
Seeing this, the homebody witch realized the gravity of the situation even more.
Sigh, Audrey is definitely considered a super genius as well, but alas, she's surrounded by overachievers and powerhouses, so the child's talent cannot be showcased. Always being frustrated will indeed eventually lead to stress-related illnesses.
She no longer hesitated, directly reaching out to hold Audrey's hand, summoning the broom, and flying towards Heian-kyo commercial street.
........
Meanwhile, in the Golden Town Commerce Association, the Golden Princess was still auditing accounts; ever since she discovered the traitor within the association, she has been reviewing the millennia-old records of Japan Island over the past month.
"Crafty rats, crafty rats, raising such a group of vile rodents in the Japan Island branch. How can development progress?"
Looking at the shocking accounts over the years, Senior Mia's face grew increasingly stern.
Perhaps, the headquarters has really been too lenient with the Japan Island branch. Although the meager profits from the branch are indeed not enough to attract headquarters' attention, the sturdiest fortresses often collapse from the smallest cracks; this tendency must not be allowed to continue.
Mia was determined to properly overhaul the Japan Island branch.
However, the consistently introverted situation in Japan Island is troublesome; she cannot easily parachute external witches in, while unfamiliar in searching for local talent is also inconvenient...
The Golden Princess furrowed her brow, pondering strategies.
But at this moment, someone knocked on her office door.
"Princess, someone is outside looking for you, claiming to be your friend."
The steward outside conveyed the message.
"My friend?"
Mia was taken aback but soon realized.
She has few acquaintances in this Japan Island; those claiming so could only be those like the Little Fairy who come from the outside world.
Wow, the Little Fairy actually takes the initiative to find me?
The Golden Princess could not help but be overjoyed; the gloom caused by the branch's corruption suddenly cleared up.
"Quickly entertain them with the highest level of hospitality; I'll tidy up and be right there."
Mia instructed the steward outside and then threw aside the account book in her hand. Behind her, golden light shone brightly, various makeup tools, precious jewelry, exquisite clothing, etc., flew out from the treasury.
