Chapter 28: Yes, it’s me, Mario!
Luffy was out for another stroll in the gray terminal. He seemed excited. Well, why wouldn't he? Makino agreed to his request to make a call to Shanks. But it would take some time.
Of course, it would. Makino herself couldn't call Shanks all the time. And the last time they had seen each other was years ago. Due to pesky marines monitoring each call that was made from in the grandline to outside blues, securing a secured line for a transponder snail took some time.
Shanks would often notify Makino's transponder snail of a call six to twenty hours before the call. That way, she could secure her end, and then the call could be established.
Talk about forbidden love.
Anyway, so Makino promised that she would notify him if Shanks was up for a call. Makino also asked for something because of Luffy's sudden request.
To buy a certain type of chocolate that was sold only in the Goa Kingdom. She seemed quite mad this time Garp forgot about her chocolates, and that's why Luffy was on a hunt to buy those chocolates.
But unlike Garp, he couldn't just walk into the Goa Kingdom, he had to take the sneaky route that's why he was going through Gray Terminal.
"Sparky, hold on…" Luffy said as he looked up the tall wall of gray terminal, and started using geppo to climb for a bit, he could climb it this way. But what was the fun in that?
He stretched out his hands as they grabbed onto the wall as he started falling. When his arms were stretched enough, he slingshot himself away going up the wall into the Kingdom. "Whohooo!"
The monkey on his shoulder also seemed to enjoy it. Before long they were high enough to see the whole goa kingdom from a bird's eye view.
"Sparky, check the map for the shop's location…" Luffy said as he balanced himself in the air with Geppo.
With two hands still grabbing onto luffy's shirt, the monkey used his other six hands to get the map out and find the location of the shop. And he then pointed at a southern part of the Kindom.
Luffy looked down, and frowned, there seemed to be a commotion going on there… The young man hoped that there wouldn't be any problems with his shopping.
With that, Luffy free-dived toward the location. He didn't need to worry about his hat flying off to the air as Sparky used one of his free hands to push it down Luffy's head so it wouldn't fall off. Good Monkey.
With silence, Luffy landed on a nearby rooftop, learning Geppo, soru, and Life Return made him very adaptable to being silent.
"Come on… that's way to cliche…" Luffy mused as he saw that the shop was surrounded by marines. And they seemed to be pointing their weapons at the shop. Or at least who was outside of it.
Luffy got down from the sky to a nearby building rooftop, observing the situation. "Wait, is that Sterry?" He narrowed his eyes, "I should have brought some popcorn."
A man who looked like a psychopath was holding down Sterry with his claws extended. "I demand that the kingdom is handed over to me, or the boy gets it!" The man was definitely a pirate and a sly one it seemed. His clothes had patches of blood on it.
"Okay, the demand seemed unreasonable, even for this world's standards. I wouldn't bargain a gold coin for that failed prince." Luffy said, while Sparky laughed. "But you know this is kind of cringe and cliche at the same time. Not that I'm complaining"
"I have already killed all of the royal nobles… but it seems that I have missed one. Give me the kingdom or the boy gets it."
"And the plot thickens… But, that a serious matter." Luffy said, "How am I going to collect my early funds if all the royal bastards are dead."
Sparky deadpanned.
"What?" Luffy asked the monkey, "That's a serious matter… and I don't like getting dragged into cliche scenarios. Well, you know what's the best thing to do in a cliche?"
The monkey rolled his shoulder.
"Well, you punch em really hard and break em to pieces…"
The pirate seemed to notice Luffy's presence up on the rooftop and he pointed his claws near Sterry's neck. "Hey, you… you on the rooftop. Yeah, you with the monkey. Get down or I will kill the boy."
"Oppos! My bad, please continue," With that Luffy jumped down from the roof, and he landed between the tense marines. "By the way, I don't care about the brat… kill him and be done with it. I only want the chocolate shop that is behind you."
"Huh?" The pirate looked behind, but that was a mistake. The next moment Luffy was in front of him and a punch to the throat made him skid away toward a nearby wall, freeing the useless prince.
Luffy punched the man in an angle so that he wouldn't hit the shop behind, but the lamppost that was in front of him.
"It's… it's you…" Sterry was wide-eyed recognizing Luffy.
Luffy crouched down with a gentle smile. "Yes, it's me, Mario!" Luffy said in an overly cheerful voice, but his eyes were sharp. And when he was near the boy he said something in a whisper, "Act as if I saved you, or you die. Do something funny you die… now who am I?" He grinned wickedly.
Sparky kind of felt bad for the prince. Only a little bit.
"M-My h-hero." Sterry said with a panicked expression as he sweated bullets. For some reason, he was afraid of the straw hat boy more than the pirate.
"No, need to fear pricne, I am here!" Luffy said as he patted the prince. Before he looked toward the dumbfounded Marines. "And you lot… don't go near that chum just yet, he ain't dead."
The marines looked at the fallen pirate in question, and all of them saw that the pirate's throat was caved in, and his neck might as well be broken. So they were confused as to what the straw-hat wearing young man meant.
