The warship cruised at full power.
Before long, Roja and Kalifa arrived at the waters near Syrup Village. Anchored there were two smaller warships, their decks stained with blood.
Stepping through the carnage using Geppo, Roja and Kalifa landed silently on one of the warships. Blood pooled everywhere, and the bodies of fallen naval soldiers lay scattered.
What drew Roja's attention most was a man sprawled in the middle of the deck—a hulking figure with a shattered jaw and an arm that had been replaced by an axe. This was Morgan, a man destined to rise to the rank of Marine Captain in the future.
Morgan's lifeless eyes stared blankly at the sky. To an outsider, he seemed dead. But Roja knew better. He was under hypnosis.
After searching both warships, Kalifa approached Roja and reported, "No survivors besides this man."

Roja nodded slightly at the alert. A single day seemed like little time, but he was confident they could make it. With the warship's speed, Syrup Village was within reach.
"It seems Kuro has escaped," Roja mused, gazing at Morgan. "If I'm not mistaken, he's already made his way to Syrup Village."
Roja then knelt next to Morgan's bloodied form. "But before we go after Kuro, we should treat this man. After all, he's still a Marine of potential, and I'd prefer to prevent the dark path his life takes."
Kalifa frowned. "How can we help him? Neither of us knows hypnosis."
"That's unnecessary," Roja replied confidently. "Anything involving the mind, I can handle."
With that, Roja activated his Phantom Fruit ability. A soft light emanated from his eyes as he delved into Morgan's mind, planting an intricate illusion designed to break Jango's hypnosis.
This technique was an advanced use of the Phantom Fruit, something Roja had developed through meticulous experimentation. While it had limitations—it worked best on those with weaker wills—it showcased the fruit's vast potential.
Within minutes, the glaze in Morgan's eyes began to lift.
"Where am I…?" Morgan muttered as clarity returned. He stared around the blood-drenched warship in shock, his gaze falling on the lifeless bodies of his comrades.
"What… happened here?" Morgan's voice trembled. His memories were hazy, but the devastation was real.
Roja spoke calmly. "This wasn't your fault. If anyone is to blame, it's Kuro."
The name triggered Morgan's fragmented memories. "Kuro…" he muttered. "We were chasing him. He… he set us up! After that, everything goes blank…"
Roja nodded. "Kalifa, take Morgan and one of the warships to the nearest Marine base. I'll handle Kuro and regroup with you afterward."
Kalifa didn't hesitate. "Understood."
With that, Kalifa and Morgan departed, leaving Roja alone with his colossal Admiral-class warship. He steered it toward Syrup Village, his expression cold and determined.
Meanwhile, at Syrup Village…
The Black Cat Pirates had discreetly arrived on the shore, their ship anchored, and flags concealed to avoid suspicion.
"Captain," Jango said nervously, "are you sure about this? Leaving the sea behind…?"
Kuro adjusted his glasses, his face calm and calculating. "I'm tired of this life. From this moment, I'll live as a simple butler. In three years, you'll come to find me. By then, I'll have fully integrated into this island's life."
Known as "Hundred Plans" Kuro, his cunning was unparalleled. Even now, he was planning years ahead, ensuring his survival.
Jango sighed but complied. "Understood, Captain. We'll wait for your signal."
With a nod, Kuro stepped off the ship and vanished into the village, leaving Jango and the crew to their own devices.
Turning to the remaining pirates, Jango grinned. "From now on, I'm the captain of the Black Cat Pirates! Let's set sail!"
"Yes, Captain!" the crew cheered.
But their celebration was short-lived. As they set off, a massive shadow loomed over them—a giant warship, unlike any they had ever seen, closing in fast.
Jango's sharp eyes widened. "Wait… That's…"
The terrifying realization hit him. This was White Pigeon Roja, the Marine Admiral who had recently been making waves with his relentless pursuit of pirates. His reputation for capturing or eliminating criminals struck fear into even the most hardened pirates.
Jango wasted no time. "Raise your hands! Surrender! Now!"
The entire Black Cat crew, following their captain's lead, shot their hands into the air, yelling, "We surrender!"
Roja, standing tall on the warship's deck, couldn't help but chuckle at the absurdity of the scene.
The massive warship slowed to a halt. Roja gazed down at the pirate crew below, their fear palpable. The atmosphere was tense, and beads of sweat rolled down Jango's face.
Then Roja's calm but commanding voice rang out: "…"
