Chapter 283: Anne’s Actions
Electric propulsion and magnetic rotation are powers from the "Sea Tiger" world. However, in "Sea Tiger," the emergence of magnetic rotation ability wasn't much related to the Huangji Jingshishu. Huangji Jingshishu was a book found by Landa Tianwu, who already possessed electric propulsion ability.
This book, which records the ultimate principles of a world, perhaps carried the rules of that world itself, thus allowing the readers in this world to gain electric propulsion and even magnetic rotation powers after reading it.
Zephyr felt as if he had found a treasure when he saw the book. Though he only skimmed a few pages, he noticed that the content of this book was far more profound than anything he had read before!
Though the writing was difficult to understand, he believed the book contained the world-shaking wisdom he desired. If he could truly understand it, he could eliminate all pirates!
Zephyr spent his return journey to Marine Headquarters engrossed in the Huangji Jingshishu, even staying in for months without taking action. He had become completely absorbed.
While learning the knowledge within Huangji Jingshishu, he also began to experience the same changes Moria had. No wonder Moria had suddenly grown so much stronger.
Electric propulsion involved using one's willpower to make body cells rapidly friction and create positive and negative electrical poles, which could then be used. Further advancing to magnetic rotation would accelerate the cell movement even more, converting the electric current into a force that influences one's and external magnetic fields.
However, acquiring such power wasn't something that could be achieved overnight. Any profound path required a vast amount of time for accumulation.
Zephyr believed that if he could fully comprehend the book, eradicating all pirates might indeed be possible!
He hadn't expected that aiming to kill Moria would lead to such a pleasant surprise. After handing over Marine affairs to his mirror clone, Zephyr started absorbing the book's knowledge and mastering the electric currents within his body.
While Zephyr was in seclusion, the world was brewing new undercurrents.
Since returning from the original Ohara waters, Anne had been thinking about the "Demon Child." She knew she couldn't let that girl remain under Makima's control, or the Ohara incident would surely repeat in the future.
Anne, preoccupied, found Rouge, knowing that once her upcoming actions were exposed, even her position as Marine Admiral wouldn't be safe. This might be her last chance to care for Rouge and Ace openly.
But Rouge told her shocking news: she had been found by the Archangel of the Rear and invited to join God's Right Seat. After the Roger incident settled, Rouge would head to the Vatican to become the Right Seat of Fire.
Anne was aware of the reformation of God's Right Seat but never imagined Rouge would be chosen as the Right Seat of Fire.
Knowing Rouge had gained great power and was part of God's Right Seat, Anne felt relieved. Rouge and Ace's safety was now secured, freeing Anne from her worries about her next mission.
Rouge noticed Anne's distraction but didn't pry further.
"Roger's last request has finally been fulfilled to this point," Anne said, looking at the sleeping baby Ace. "Now, you'll be a nun of the Vatican, a member of God's Right Seat. No one will think you're Roger's wife. You and Ace can live safely in the light."
"Yes, all thanks to your help," Rouge said emotionally, understanding that Anne's actions could ruin her career if exposed. She was deeply touched, and seeing Anne's recent troubled expression, she wanted to help if possible.
But Anne couldn't let Rouge take such risks. They had finally secured a new life, and there was no need to drag them back into conflict.
Anything involving Makima was too heavy.
To increase her chances of success, Anne entered a new training phase after saying goodbye to Rouge.
Although Anne was already strong, having inherited Roger's Four Soul Jade fragments and part of his fusion power, and wielding the divine gun Kagekiri, she was confident she wouldn't lose to Makima.
But she wasn't going to fight Makima head-on; her mission was to secretly rescue the Demon Child while concealing her identity, which meant she couldn't use Kagekiri.
When Roger was alive, their spiritual connection allowed Anne to sense Roger's Observation Haki level.
Armament and Conqueror's Haki weren't easy to improve as they involved mind, will, and body, but due to her bond with Roger, Anne believed she could reach his level of Observation Haki.
If she could achieve that pinnacle of Observation Haki, her success rate would increase.
Anne's Observation Haki was already strong, and with Roger's influence, it wasn't impossible for her to reach his level.
A year passed quickly.
Anne slowly opened her eyes, exhaling softly.
She had finally succeeded.
"Sorry, Kagekiri, you won't be in action tonight."
Anne gently placed Kagekiri on the table. Tonight, she wouldn't use the weapon that had accompanied her for years.
After a year of preparing herself, Anne quietly opened the door.
Marine Headquarters at night was different from other places. Even at night, the island never ceased its operations, as it was the hub of the world's justice.
If it stopped, it would mean the world's justice had stopped!
Anne walked slowly on the island, the cold air calming her mind. She took note of the Marine ships' positions and their upcoming missions before returning to her room.
This time, she was ready to act.
Fusion!
She had gained part of Roger's fusion fruit ability, but she wasn't merging with Marine Headquarters. Instead, she used it to move silently.
Her body sank into the ground, moving stealthily within Marine Headquarters, and quietly boarded a ship heading to the New World.
This way, no one noticed her disappearance.
Anne safely reached the New World, separating from the ship and swimming to the waters near Pandora Island.
Mariejois was very close to Pandora Island, making it convenient for her.
Seeing Pandora Island ahead, Anne knew it would be the real challenge.
The Black Order ensured Pandora Island's security, with either Makima or an Admiral stationed there, always a formidable opponent present.
She chose today because she knew Makima wasn't there. Her Observation Haki had revealed that tonight's defender was Thor.
Anne had worked with Thor in Wano before, but today they were on different paths, and a confrontation was inevitable.
"Besides Thor, Pandora Island is also filled with Vegapunk's machines and CP agents."
As a Marine Admiral, Anne knew Pandora Island well. If she had no knowledge of the island, she would be in trouble. Her position allowed her deep insight into the island's layout.
Confident in her understanding, Anne planned to rescue the Demon Child.
She knew that over a year ago, a forbidden zone had appeared on Pandora Island's south side, even off-limits to her. That should be where the Demon Child was held.
Now, she was in the southern waters of Pandora Island. She needed to avoid the island's surveillance and Thor's powerful Observation Haki.
Thor's Observation Haki was strong, especially with his Rumble-Rumble Fruit's electromagnetic sensing. This ability, combined with his Haki, made him a formidable opponent. Avoiding him wouldn't be easy.
This was why Anne had spent a year training her Haki, completely concealing her presence to evade Thor. She also used her fusion power to blend into the seawater.
This was a significant difference between her and Devil Fruit users. They became powerless in seawater, even Roger would be weakened.
But Anne's fusion power, derived from the idol worship theory, was unaffected by seawater, unlike Roger's Devil Fruit power.
Merging with the seawater didn't hinder her, and the natural fluctuations wouldn't alert the surveillance. She felt fortunate to have gained part of Roger's ability.
Under the dark night sky, the sea rippled gently. A blue-haired woman merged with the currents, approaching Pandora Island.
Eventually, Anne, blending with the sea, touched a solid object. Activating her fusion power again, she merged with the island.
Holding her breath, she advanced, finally sensing she had entered the forbidden zone.
Here, she felt nine-tenths of the surveillance was gone.
"It's not just surveillance, this whole area seems empty."
She thought of the vanished Ohara and understood.
It seemed the Demon Child's ability to make things disappear had left this area empty.
Everything vanished before her power, rendering any setup useless.
Seeing this, Anne relaxed. This made her infiltration much easier.
She continued stealthily, finally entering a steel room within the forbidden zone. Inside the steel walls, she saw a black-haired girl lying on the floor.
The girl, about ten years old, lay on the floor because the room had no bed.
Indeed, the room had no furniture. The only blanket seemed newly brought in, unsure when it would disappear.
Anne, merging with the steel, approached Robin and whispered, "Do you want to leave here?"
The sudden voice startled Robin. She covered her face with a cup and whispered, "Who?"
Anne whispered back, "Who I am doesn't matter. What matters is I can help you escape this prison."
Robin wanted to leave but didn't want to jump from one prison to another. Here, though researched daily, she was relatively safe.
But she couldn't trust this unknown person.
"You don't have to believe me, but remember my words."
Anne's head emerged slightly from Robin's blanket as she whispered, "The Black Order's marshal is a demon lord who wants to use your power. If you don't want to be her pawn, come with me."
"I swear I won't harm you. Once we leave this island, you can go wherever you want."
"A demon lord?" Robin whispered, "Makima is a demon lord?"
"Yes, I've been trying to fight Makima, but she's too strong now. All I can do is get you out of here."
Anne told Robin many things, hoping to make her realize the danger with Makima.
"I'll go with you, but if we're caught, I won't help."
Robin's stance was clear. She would go but wouldn't help if they were pursued.
"Of course."
Relieved by Robin's answer, Anne hadn't expected her to help, just not to resist.
Anne didn't know Robin's stance. If she sided with Makima or liked her more, Anne would have knocked her out and taken her by force.
But getting her cooperation was the best outcome.
