Chapter 049: Imu, I've Been Wanting to Rip Your Neck Off
Staring at the colossal beast before him, the goat-bearded Gorosei felt a deep, hopeless sorrow—like being lost in a boundless sea.
This monster…
It destroyed Impel Down, obliterated Marineford,
And now, it's wreaking havoc in Mary Geoise…
What the hell does it want?
To go home.
If you asked Ghidorah what he wanted right now, his answer would be simple: "Go home."
It's like walking out one day only to find someone else has taken over your house—how would that make you feel?
Even if… he doesn't plan to live there anymore, he sure as hell isn't going to let others enjoy it in peace.
Just like a child with a broken toy: "Even if I don't want it anymore, I'd rather smash it than let you have it."
And right now, Imu is like a child clinging to a broken toy.
Can't play with it, can't toss it away.
So she made her choice—to break it all.
If no one gets to play, then let's ruin everything.
In other words: "kick up the sand and burn the whole sandbox down."
---
The chaotic battle had begun, and the evacuation of Pangaea Castle was underway.
However,
Compared to the fleeing people, the castle was simply too massive. Some didn't even make it to the gates before being crushed under falling rubble or the feet of towering giants.
"Hmph."
"How nostalgic."
"Fine then—if we're all still alive, it's a good chance for me to vent the grudge I've held for centuries."
Facing four giant warriors, Ghidorah felt no fear.
It was like this 800 years ago—and it's the same now.
Summoning lightning into his body, he opened his mouth and blasted out a golden beam.
The moment the radiant beam erupted, the three other giants quickly grabbed their massive shields from their backs, bracing them in front.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The beams were blocked, but their explosive force was overwhelming.
Even giants over a hundred meters tall were blasted backward by the sheer impact.
Ghidorah's eyes gleamed with ferocity as he stared at the colossal shields—ancient relics forged by the scientific division of the Twenty Kingdoms Alliance.
If not for that metal back then, he wouldn't have been sealed away in Impel Down.
The bitter memories reignited his fury.
He stopped using his gravitational beams and charged in with brute force.
Even without those beams, his overwhelming physical power was unmatched.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
His massive wings moved with the dexterity of arms, the sharp bones at their ends tough as steel.
He swept down buildings and sent a giant flying once again. Then with a powerful flap, he soared into the air, diving after the airborne giant.
Boom!
With a crushing stomp, his massive talons shattered the giant's chest armor—its internal metallic skeleton giving way under Ghidorah's massive weight.
Then, without hesitation, his right head lunged forward and bit down on the giant's skull.
CRUNCH!
Blood gushed upward as the enormous head and a chunk of the spine were torn clean off.
Only then did the left head, as if belatedly reacting, lower itself to sniff the spraying blood from the headless corpse.
ROAR!
The right head, clearly displeased, let out a thunderous growl.
---
"GHIDORAH!!"
A furious shout rang out, followed by violent tremors.
Hody, the squad leader, watched as one of his men was slain in a single blow—his eyes glowing red with rage.
He charged forward, shield raised.
The earth trembled underfoot as the remaining three giants surged forward again, their massive shields slamming into Ghidorah's frame.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The force staggered him—his massive form retreating a few steps.
He opened his mouth, about to unleash another beam—but the giants quickly raised their shields once more.
"Tch!"
Ghidorah spat disdainfully and gave up on the beam attack. Instead, his massive wings flared—lightning surging across his body like a thunder god.
He flapped again, stirring a hurricane.
Then with a tremendous roar, he hurtled low across the battlefield and crashed into another giant.
If he couldn't win with powers, he'd win with sheer tonnage.
Ghidorah landed with an earth-shaking crash, stomping down on the shoulders of two giants.
CRACK!
Their legs shattered—splintering from the knee down, bone piercing the earth.
Without hesitation, the right head lunged again and bit into one of the giants' skulls. With a sudden twist, like a dragon turning in flight—
CRUNCH!
The sickening sound of bones breaking rang out.
Only then did the left head again slowly lean in.
SWISH!!
SPLURT!!
Suddenly, a crescent-shaped slash of dark blue energy flashed across the battlefield.
In the blink of an eye—the left head was severed, soaring through the sky.
The severed head's massive golden eye blinked in confusion.
"Damn it!"
Ghidorah cursed under his breath.
He turned cold, focused eyes toward the source of the attack.
Among everyone here, only one person could combine quantum energy and strike hard enough to slice off his head.
"Imu…"
Ghidorah's icy voice rang out as he glared at the attacker.
---
"Why? Why must you always destroy everything?" Imu shouted back, eyes brimming with rage.
"There's no 'why.' You ungrateful creatures—I should have wiped you out a thousand years ago," Ghidorah growled.
Then, with a twitch of his left neck stump, the mangled flesh began to writhe. The right head tore off a patch of bio-membrane, and a new head slowly began to regrow.
Its fresh golden eyes blinked in a daze—before snarling at Imu, only to be headbutted into silence by the right head.
"If not for those damn old families on Pica, do you really think I would've spared you all back then?"
"Pica (OC)?" Imu froze for a moment.
"You invaders… You're all evil incarnate. You should've been erased from history long ago."
"Invaders?"
"Feh… Greedy cowards, all of you. There's no point talking."
As Ghidorah felt the left head fully regenerate, he roared in fury and let loose his energy beams.
Three beams fired in succession: the first two instantly shot forward, while the third lagged behind slightly before joining them—merging into one massive blast hurtling toward Imu.
But Imu had already abandoned Pangaea Castle. She wasn't stupid enough to go head-to-head in an energy clash—especially since her quantum reserves were hard to replenish.
With a flash, she dodged the beam entirely.
---
Missing his target enraged Ghidorah. He whirled around and redirected his next beam at Hody.
Hody raised his shield to block—
BOOM!
The violent explosion hurled the giant back, smashing him into the rubble.
He struggled to rise.
BOOM!!
Seeing the opening, Ghidorah whipped his tail, smashing the skull of another half-crippled giant, then took flight and descended upon Hody like a meteor.
BOOM!!!
His mountainous body crashed down, crushing Hody into the shattered earth.
SPLURT!
A geyser of blood exploded as Hody's head was ripped off by the right head and flung aside.
---
With everything done, Ghidorah turned, his massive golden eyes fixed on Imu. His voice cold and deadly:
"Now the extras are all gone…"
"Imu… It's been centuries… and I've really been dying to rip your neck off…"
