It had been a few hours since Kai and his crew had settled into the bustling town of Water 7. They were enjoying their time exploring, chatting, and generally making the most of the brief respite. Kai leaned against the wall near the inn's entrance, watching his crew laugh and banter.

His moment of calm was interrupted when a young shipwright, barely out of his teens, approached hesitantly. The boy fidgeted, clearly nervous to address someone like Kai.

"E-Excuse me, sir," the apprentice began, clutching his hat tightly in his hands.

Kai raised an eyebrow, his eyes narrowing slightly. "What is it?"

"Iceburg-san sent me to find you," the apprentice explained quickly. "He says everything is ready to be discussed, and you should come to Dock 1 right away."

Kai smirked slightly. "So, the man's ready, huh? Took him long enough." He straightened up, rolling his shoulders lazily before turning to his crew.

"Alright, you lot," Kai said, clapping his hands once to get their attention. "Looks like I've got some business to take care of. You guys stay here and do whatever you want in the meantime."

Luca crossed his arms, frowning. "You're going alone? You sure that's smart?"

Mikita chimed in, "Yeah, what if this is some kind of setup?"

Kai waved them off, his eyes glinting with confidence. "Relax. It's a simple discussion about the ship. No danger here. Stay and enjoy the downtime—do whatever you want. I'll be back before you know it."

They weren't convinced, but Luca finally shrugged. "Alright, do your thing, Captain. But don't come crying to us if it gets messy."

Kai smirked, tipping an imaginary hat. "Noted." With that, he followed the apprentice out the door and toward Dock 1.

*****

Dock 1 was bustling with activity, the sounds of hammering, sawing, and shouted orders filling the air. Kai marveled at the sheer scale of the operation as he approached a shaded meeting area near the edge of the docks. Iceburg stood there, flanked by a group of shipwrights who radiated quiet competence.

Kai recognized some of them from the stories he'd heard—especially the burly man with wild orange hair and sunglasses, whose presence seemed to command respect without a word.

"So, Iceburg," Kai muttered to himself as he approached.

Iceburg greeted him with a polite smile. "Welcome again, Kai Silver. Let's get straight to business, shall we?"

Kai nodded, folding his arms as Iceburg continued.

"There's good news and bad news. The good news is that your gold has been exchanged. Its purity was remarkable, and the final sum comes to nearly 600 million berries."

Kai's eyes widened slightly, impressed. "Not bad."

Iceburg held up a hand, his expression turning more serious. "The bad news is about your ship. It can be repaired, but to be frank, it would be a waste of resources. The damage is too extensive, and even if we fixed it, it wouldn't last long."

Kai shrugged, unfazed. "Fine. That was my initial plan anyway—to get a new one built from scratch."

Iceburg blinked in surprise. "You're... remarkably detached. Most pirates I've met have a deep emotional bond with their ships. It's almost like losing a crewmate to them."

Kai chuckled, his tone light but laced with resolve. "Hah! Let's just say I'm saving that attachment for the ship you're going to build me. That one will be different."

Iceburg's expression softened, a hint of admiration in his eyes. "I see. Well, I hope we can meet your expectations. Do you have a vision in mind?"

Kai leaned in, his voice steady. "I know you built the Thousand Sunny for Straw Hat Luffy—the ship of his dreams. I want mine to be just as special, if not more. Something that can withstand the Grand Line and carry me to the ends of this world."

Iceburg raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "You know Straw Hat? Have you met Franky? How's he doing these days?"

Kai held up a hand, grinning. "Slow down. I only met Luffy in an... unfortunate situation. But as for Franky? He's fine. The Straw Hats are separated for now, but they're alive and well. You'll be hearing about them soon enough, believe me."

Iceburg seemed relieved but skeptical, studying Kai's face for any hint of deceit. Yet, the earnestness in Kai's words was undeniable, and Iceburg couldn't help but believe him.

"Well," Iceburg said with a nod, "if they're doing fine, that's good to hear. And if you're aiming to make a name for yourself like they have, I'll make sure this ship of yours can keep up with your ambitions."

Kai smirked, the weight of the moment sinking in. "Perfect. Let's build a legend."

Kai stood in the middle of Dock 1, surrounded by Iceburg and the shipwrights, a sense of excitement crackling in the air. He pulled out a notebook and began sketching with sharp, deliberate strokes, his hand moving with practiced precision. In a matter of moments, a detailed drawing emerged details he wanted on the ship, the sails, the mast, and a helmet with jagged edges and bold lines, radiating an almost mythical aura.

"This," Kai declared, holding up the drawing, "this will be the head of my ship."

The shipwrights leaned in, their eyes widening in awe. One of them muttered, "He draws like a pro…"

Iceburg examined the sketch, his brows raising in surprise. "You've got quite the talent, Kai Silver. This design… it's bold. Almost like something out of a legend."

Kai grinned, a rare enthusiasm lighting up his features. "It's inspired by a warrior I respect more than you can imagine—Radahn. He was a symbol of unyielding strength, and I want that same energy for my ship."

Iceburg nodded thoughtfully, tapping his chin. "A fascinating choice. And I have to admit, the details here are exceptional. It can definitely be done."

Kai clapped his hands together. "Amazing! Oh, and I want the ship built entirely out of Adam's Wood. Nothing less."

Iceburg smirked, crossing his arms. "Naturally. We've got plenty of Adam's Wood ready to go. It's the best material for a ship like this."

Kai's excitement briefly dimmed as a thought struck him. "Wait a second, Iceburg… there's something else. I know you guys build ships for the Marines too."

Iceburg's expression stiffened, but he nodded for Kai to continue.

Kai gestured downward. "I need my ship to have what their warships have—the ability to cross the Calm Belt. Whether it's sea stone to keep the sea kings away or whatever other trick they use, I want it on my ship."

The room fell silent. Iceburg studied Kai, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Impressive. For a rookie pirate, you're remarkably well-informed."

Kai smirked and shrugged. "It's nothing, really."

Iceburg's demeanor shifted, his tone growing serious. "That's going to be an issue. Whenever the Government orders a ship with that capability, they send their own shipwrights to install those parts. It's part of our contract. They pay us a fortune for it, so we don't ask questions."

Kai frowned, leaning forward. "So, what are we gonna do?"

Iceburg tapped his fingers on the table, his mind clearly racing. After a moment, his lips curled into a sly grin. "There might be a way. As it happens, there are Cipher Pol agents on the island right now. They're here for one of the ships we've built for the Marines. If you're bold enough, you could steal the blueprints from them. Their ship's docked in the official Government dock here in Water 7."

The shipwrights exchanged uneasy glances. One of them whispered, "He's seriously suggesting going up against Cipher Pol…"

Kai laughed, the sound sharp and confident. "Sounds like a plan. Sure, it's reckless, being this close to Enies Lobby and Marineford, but who cares?" He fixed Iceburg with a knowing look. "I gotta say, you really don't like the Government, do you?"

Iceburg's expression darkened, his voice low. "Let's just say I've got bad history with them—both the old and the recent."

Kai's grin widened. "I got you. I'll handle this."

Iceburg nodded, his respect for Kai growing despite himself. "Good luck. Just don't get yourself killed. I'd rather not have to explain to your crew why their captain went missing."

Kai turned on his heel, his confidence practically radiating off him. "Don't worry, old man. I'll be back before you know it."

With that, he strode out of Dock 1, leaving the shipwrights watching him in a mix of admiration and disbelief.

As Kai's figure disappeared from sight, the shipwrights remained silent, the tension in the air thick enough to cut with a blade. One of the shipwrights, a tall man with a cigarette dangling from his lips and a perpetual scowl, finally broke the silence.

"Boss," Paulie said, his voice edged with concern. "Are you sure you did the right thing? We could've just told him no. Why go to such lengths to send him after the Cipher Pol agents? You know what kind of trouble that could stir up on the island. Did you forget what happened the last time with CP9? You're the mayor, for God's sake!"

Iceburg leaned back slightly, his expression unreadable, though a flicker of something—defiance or bitterness—flashed in his eyes. He exhaled slowly, placing a hand on the table as if grounding himself before answering.

"Well, Paulie," Iceburg said, his tone calm but with an edge of finality. "Maybe I really do hate the Government that much."
