Chapter 112: King Raphael vs King Helix

"There is only one man here with a death wish, and that man is not me."

The guards recoiled at Raphael's words, some stepping forward out of anger, whilst others simply tightened their hands around their weapons, gesturing that they were ready.

But with a wave of his gloved hand, King Helix stopped them.

The words seemed not to bother the king, who simply smirked at his younger enemy. His wife beside him stood close, face giving away nothing of her thoughts.

Raphael kept the dragons ready. It had been a while since he last visited them, but they were sharp. When needed, they would burn down this king, as they had Emperor Joshua Brunell.

"So, false king. You somehow managed to defeat my angels." The man said, voice carrying through the crowd.

Raphael nodded his head. "With ease." He responded, partially telling the truth.

The King scoffed at the remark.

"That's the thing with subjects. Sometimes, it's best to get things done yourself."

Subjects... That's all they were to him.

My decision was certainly right. King Helix is a ruler that deserves to be taken down.

Then, a strange power suddenly began to form in King Helix's outstretched hand.

The force was terrible and seemed to contort the air and space itself.

On the guard's faces were knowing smiles. Whatever was about to happen, clearly filled them with confidence.

Raphael instinctively took a step backwards, keeping his distance between himself and the man.

Once the strange power formed, what remained was an ability foreign to the dragon king.

Over King Helix's right hand, was a large transparent gauntlet, spewing with incredible magical strength.

They were twice the size of a normal gauntlet. Like the man had a small boulder wrapped around his arm. As he clenched and unclenched his fist, testing the power, space continued to crack around him.

The crowd let out cheers of awe. It was a power they were clearly familiar with, but had never gotten to experience it themselves.

A particular cheer stood out to Raphael.

"There it is. The God's Glove!"

The guards standing around the King took steps backwards, giving the man the space that he needed. Only the queen lingered, watching her husband with a keen eye.

The man turned towards her and flashed her a confident grin. However, she hardly seemed to share his feelings.

"Be careful, my love. Your opponent is strong."

As soon as the words left her lips, King Helix's face suddenly contorted in anger.

He looked towards his beautiful wife, and with a snarl on his lips, he drew his unpowered hand back and slapped her across the face.

The woman fell to the ground, which made the crowd let out cries of shock. Helix did not care; however, his rage was evident on his face.

"Even my own wife lacks faith in me!" He spat, cheeks red with anger. The Queen rubbed at her face, trying her best to ease the pain.

"You suggest that I must be careful against such an opponent? I have defeated many-"

The king's words were cut off, as he sensed an incredible wave of heat travelling towards him. Quicky, he raised his God's Glove and created a transparent shield large enough to defend his entire body.

A torrent of white flames crashed into it, and instantly he found that they were stronger than he expected. He had to push his birthright to its maximum capacity just to stop them from burning through.

W-what is this? The King asked himself.

After only a few seconds, the flames subsided, leaving the man out of breath and heaving for air.

Standing ahead of him with an outstretched palm was the Dragon King. Face now solemn.

As he lowered his hand, Helix's rage grew even stronger.

He dares to strike me before the duel begins?

The crowd was going crazy at the events taking place before them. It wasn't every day that someone got to witness white flames.

"Not only are you a cruel leader, but you're a cruel husband too. A man that beats his wife." Raphael declared.

Queen Eva had now pushed herself to her feet and distanced herself from the battle. But as Raphael spoke, she watched him with a curious eye, wondering why he would stand up for his enemy.

Why he would be angered by a Queen, who was meant to be his opposition.

Her head was filled with thoughts.

Suddenly, a wave of heat washed over the entire field. The crowd's eyes trained on the source.

In Raphael's hand, a weapon began to form. One so large that it stood almost as tall as King Helix himself. It was a greatsword made from spiralling white and black flames, which the Dragon King took in both hands.

Afterwards, Violetta's red flaming armour spread over him, covering his body from head to toe.

Standing in the field, he now looked like a true warrior. A true Dragon King.

"He's the son of the flames!" Someone in the crowd cheered, going crazy at the spectacle before them.

King Helix couldn't take the man being praised any longer. The man dashed forward in a blind rage.

For such a large figure, he moved with speed. Arms swinging behind him, as though they were useless.

The distance between them was closed with speed, and the large man brought his fist down with terrible force aimed towards Raphael's head.

But he didn't let it land.

Instead, he brought up The Ender and crashed his blade into the incoming God Glove.

The two forces met with tremendous force, sending a wave of energy across the crowd which forced many to brace themselves against it.

Surprisingly, the two were equally matched, striking at each other again and again. None of them budged, both standing their ground and poising themselves for the clashes.

Suddenly, Raphael switched his methods.

It swiftly became clear to him that the King of the North was a one-dimensional fighter.

With only one glove, he struck with only one strike. It was easy to predict.

As the two continued to clash, Raphael couldn't help but smirk to himself.

Why are my fights so often easy to win?

His opponent swung his glove, and Raphael stepped to the side with speed, allowing the strike to swing through the air and miss its target.

Helix's eyes widened in surprise.

Isn't defeating a king supposed to be difficult?

Raphael brought The Ender down in a devastating arc, the sword biting into the gloved arm of his opponent.

It met hardly any resistance, cutting off the limb by the elbow and sending it falling to the ground with a thud.

For a moment, the city was silent, all watching in disbelief at what just happened.

King Helix finally looked down at the stump of his arm, realising what had just been done to him.

Then, moments later once the blood started to spray, the man began to scream.
